LCW Showdown Television Results 10.28.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 28, 2009) live from Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reminded everyone about the LCW Showdown Championship Draft Series that would continue this week with every champion defending his title against a predetermined challenger as a result of the LCW Showdown Championship Draft a few weeks ago.

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Bass Brothers (with Maw Bass and Col. Robert Parker) defeated the Fantastics in 4:37 by pinfall when Outlaw Ron Bass pinned Bobby Fulton after the Texas Gourdbuster. Before the match, the Nasty Boys joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest commentary during the match and Jerry Sags noted that they weren’t worried about the Bass Brothers, the other Desperados or Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater. Brian Knobbs said all those guys were nasty, but not as nasty as the Nasty Boys and they were going to take back their LCW World Tag Team Championships.

LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated Don Muraco in 9:44 by pinfall after the Spear. During the match, Goldberg tried to interfere in the match, but Williams hit Goldberg with the Spear, knocking him out of the ring. The two men started to brawl as security officials came out and pulled them apart as the show went to commercial.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Wildfire Tommy Rich about being attacked by Hollywood John Tatum last week and Missy Hyatt costing him the LCW Heritage Championship. Rich asked Mooney if he was really surprised. He said Hyatt was really only good at one thing and it had nothing to do with wrestling. Rich said he wasn’t worried about Tatum and he was done with Hyatt. He said he was going back to basics and doing what he does best: wrestling.

Dynamite Kid defeated LCW Heritage Champion Bret Hart in 24:17 by submission with the Crossface. During the match, Dynamite attempted a flying headbutt, but Hart avoided the move and locked the Sharpshooter on Dynamite. Dynamite managed to get to the ropes, but Hart pulled him away taking him back to the middle of the ring. Dynamite again managed to get to the ropes and this time Hart was forced to break the hold. As Hart approached Dynamite, Dynamite kicked him in the gut, grabbed him by the trunks and pulled him over his head, through the ropes, and Hart tumbled out of the ring. As Hart tried to get back in the ring, Dynamite got to his feet and tried to suplex Hart into the ring. As he had Hart in the air, Hart managed to fall and sneak behind Dynamite, rolling him up for an attempted pinfall, but Dynamite managed to get out of the attempted pinfall and locked on the Crossface with which he forced Hart to submit for the win to become the new LCW Heritage Champion.

In the back, the new LCW Heritage Champion Dynamite Kid was shown celebrating with several Legends including the Honky Tonk Man, Jimmy Hart, Greg Valentine, and the Rougeau Brothers. Hart asked Dynamite Kid about having to face Macho Man Randy Savage next week and Kid said, "Did you not just see what I did out there? Do you think I'm worried about Randy Savage at all. No, I'm not worried about him at all. I'm going to beat him next week and I'm going through the rest of the other challengers for this title in the Draft Series. This is the only time this title is changing hands in the Draft Series."

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko discussed the first title change in the "Showdown Championship Draft Series." Zbyszko said, "See, this is what I love about this concept. It's about opportunities. On any given week, any one of these randomly drawn challengers could win the championship they've been drawn to challenge for. Tonight was Dynamite Kid's night. His name was randomly drawn three weeks ago and he was prepared and ready for this opportunity and he took advantage of it and tonight he's the new LCW Heritage Champion." Schiavone asked if Austin Idol would have the same fate with LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page.

LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page defeated Austin Idol in 7:03 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko announced that the traditional Sam Muchnick Battle Royal would take place at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special on Saturday, November 7th. Schiavone noted that the winner of the battle royal normally receives a shot at the LCW Universal Championship on the following week’s episode of LCW Showdown. “However, due to the Showdown Championship Draft Series,” Schiavone said, “Bob Backlund already has a shot at the LCW Universal Championship on that week’s Showdown.” Schiavone announced that the winner of the Sam Muchnick Battle Royal would earn a shot at the LCW International Championship at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view on Sunday, November 29th.

Spider Lady defeated Wendi Richter in 5:09 by pinfall after a gutwrench powerbomb. The match started evenly contested, but Wendi Richter quickly got the upperhand. Just as Richter was about to deliver her swinging armwrench facebuster, Luna Vachon came down and sprayed mace in her face as Spider Lady distracted the referee. After the gutwrench powerbomb, Spider Lady pinned Richter and Vachon raised her arm in victory. Backstage Lock was watching the match, scowling at the monitor and cracking her knuckles.

On the LegendsTron, a special video featuring Madusa’s career highlights played as Rihanna’s “Shut Up and Drive” played in the background. The video also featured cutaways to an interview with Madusa in which she talked about her career highlights included Madusa winning the LCW Women’s Championship from Akira Hokuto in 2005 and from Luna Vachon in 2008. One of the cutaways had Madusa noting that she had never actually lost the LCW Women’s Championship; it had been stripped from her every time. She said, “I don’t care who comes out of that fatal fourway match at LCW Showdown at the Chase, I don’t care who faces me in the final match to crown the new LCW Women’s Champion. I know two things: I’m going to be the LCW Women’s Champion for a third time at the end of the night and no one is ever taking this title from me without killing me first!”
