LCW Showdown Television Results 10.14.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 14, 2009) live from the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA.

Tonight's episode of LCW Showdown is dedicated in loving memory to Captain Lou Albano (1933-2009).

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko discussed last Sunday night's LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view including the fact that Magnum TA defeated Sid Vicious and is now the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Schiavone and Zbyszko also noted the passing of former LCW manager and WWE Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano.

From ringside, ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta announced Captain Lou Albano's passing this morning at the age of 76 and asked for a moment of silence as the bell was tolled ten times in his memory and honor.

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out with the champions of Legends Championship Wrestling: LCW Heritage Champion Bret Hart, LCW World Tag Team Champions The Bass Brothers (with Maw Bass), LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page, LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams, who came out to a thunderous eruption of applause after his performance last Sunday night at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view with Bill Goldberg, and the LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. Calaway announced that over the next ten weeks, all six of these men would be defending their titles every week on LCW Showdown. Their opponents would be drawn at random over the course of the evening. Calaway announced officially that as a result of his victory over Sid Vicious last Sunday night at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view, Magnum TA was officially the new number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship and would get his shot at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view on Sunday, November 29th. Austin stepped up and grabbed the microphone from Calaway and said he was fine with Magnum TA getting a shot at the title at Redemption Day, but said, “I want to talk about kicking Sid Vicious’ ass tonight! A few weeks ago, that son of a bitch tried to take me out of action when he powerbombed me on this stage and he did just that. He took me out of action, but he made one mistake. He didn’t kill me! I want that big, dumb son of a bitch in that ring tonight!” Calaway said, “I can’t do that.” The audience booed, but Calaway said, “Let me finish. I can’t do that…tonight. As much as I’d like to, Steve, the ball is already rolling on the “Showdown Championship Draft,” and I can’t do anything about it as the LCW Board of Directors has already approved the concept and it begins tonight. But the “Showdown Championship Draft” has no impact or influence on the Showdown at the Chase television special on Saturday, November 7th. I’ll tell you what, title or no title because tonight someone’s name could be drawn that could beat you for that title. But no matter what, whether you’re champion on November 7th or not, I promise you a match, one on one, with Sid Vicious!” The audience cheered and Austin said with or without the title, for or not for the title he was going to kick Sid Vicious’ ass, “And that’s the bottom line, ‘cause Stone Cold said so!” Austin left the entrance stage. Calaway excused all the other champions, but LCW Heritage Champion Bret Hart who would be there while Calaway drew for his opponent this week and the contenders over the next nine weeks on LCW Showdown. Calaway drew Tito Santana’s name as Hart’s opponent tonight and then drew the other nine names as contenders for the next nine weeks: Wildfire Tommy Rich, Dynamite Kid, Macho Man Randy Savage, King Kong Bundy, Paul Orndorff, Kevin Von Erich, Sgt. Slaughter, Superfly Jimmy Snuka, and Kamala.

LCW Heritage Champion Bret Hart defeated Tito Santana in 8:56 by submission with the Sharpshooter after Santana missed an attempted flying forearm smash. Santana and Hart shook hands before the match and Hart helped Santana to his feet after the match.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out again with a tumbler with less names than before and announced that this tumbler was especially for the tag teams of Legends Championship Wrestling. He said all fourteen tag teams, sans the reigning LCW World Tag Team Champions The Bass Brothers, had their names in the tumbler and would be drawn for the “Showdown Championship Draft.” Calaway drew for the Bass Brothers’ opponents this week and the contenders over the next nine weeks on LCW Showdown. Calaway drew the Bushwhackers name as the Bass Brothers’ opponent tonight and then drew the other nine names as contenders for the next nine weeks: The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, The Fantastics, The Destruction Crew, Doom, The Powers of Pain, The Midnight Express, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express, The Wild Samoans, and The Rougeau Brothers. Former LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys came out and demanded to know why their names weren’t drawn. Calaway explained that there were fifteen tag teams in the tumbler and only ten spots available in the draft. Brian Knobbs said he was going to exercise their rematch clause and demanded a match with the Bass Brothers at Showdown at the Chase. Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater came out and Orton said, “What about us? We have unfinished business with those sons of a bitch, the Bass Brothers as well.” Calaway said at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special on Saturday, November 7th, the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Bass Brothers would defend their titles against the Nasty Boys and Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater in a triple threat match! Moments after the announcement, as the Nasty Boys, Orton and Slater exchanged words, the Desperados (the Bass Brothers, Stan Hansen, Dirty Dutch Mantel, and Black Bart) attacked the Nasty Boys, Orton and Slater from behind before security officials came out and separated the men. Calaway sent the Bass Brothers to the ring and called out the Bushwhackers who came out as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Bass Brothers (with Col. Robert Parker and Maw Bass) defeated The Bushwhackers in 5:27 by pinfall when Ron Bass pinned Luke Williams after the Texas Gourdbuster. After the match, Orton and Slater chased the Bass Brothers, who left their titles in the ring, from ringside. The Bushwhackers picked the titles up, pointed to the rafters and then placed them down in the ring before leaving ringside. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted that the act was a tribute to Captain Lou Albano who helped guide a record 15 tag teams to championship gold throughout his legendary career.

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out again with the original tumbler and the LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page. Calaway drew Iceman King Parsons' name out of the tumbler as the Page’s opponent tonight and then drew the other nine names as contenders for the next nine weeks: Ron Garvin, Austin Idol, Stan Hansen, Wild Bill Irwin, Superstar Billy Graham, Tully Blanchard, Col. DeBeers, Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin, and Bill Goldberg. Page looked shocked when Goldberg’s name was drawn and Calaway smiled at the thought of the two friends, who actively worked to keep Ted Turner in power as Chairman of the Board and expel Calaway from Legends Championship Wrestling only two months ago, having to potentially face each other in less than two months. Calaway sent Page to the ring for his match with Parsons as the show went to commercial.

LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page defeated Iceman King Parsons in 6:54 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter.

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out again with the tumbler and LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams who, once again, received thunderous applause from the audience. Calaway drew Nikita Koloff’s name as Williams’ opponent tonight and then drew the other nine names as contenders for the next nine weeks: One Man Gang, Don Muraco, Abdullah the Butcher, Barry Windham, Black Bart, Marty Jannetty, Koko B. Ware, Big Van Vader, and Ken Patera. Calaway sent Williams to ringside after a handshake and called out Williams’ opponent tonight, Nikita Koloff who came out as the show went to commercial.

The Wild Samoans, Don Muraco, and Bruno Sammartino wrestled Nikolai Volkoff, the Iron Sheik (with Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie), Greg Valentine (with Jimmy Hart), and Ivan Koloff in 6:09 to a no contest in an eight-man tag team match dedicated to Captain Lou Albano after George The Animal Steele came out and cleared everyone out of the ring. In his hands was his stuffed animal, Mine, which had Albano's trademark rubber bands safety pinned to his face. Albano started tearing apart one of the top turnbuckles and yelled, "Lou," as he did. All the men involved in the match were managed by Albano at one time. Sammartino calmed Steele down as he was about to destroy another turnbuckle and accompanied him to the back.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Nikita Koloff defeated LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams in 12:02 by disqualification after Bill Goldberg interfered and hit Koloff with the Spear. After the match, Williams confronted Goldberg about his interference and Koloff, after getting back to his feet, wanted a piece of Goldberg as well. Williams calmed Koloff down and asked Goldberg what was wrong with him. Goldberg grabbed the microphone and said, “Last Sunday night, we tore the house down and I want to do it one more time. I want one more chance at that title.” LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out and announced that at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special on Saturday, November 7th, Williams would defend the LCW International Championship against Bill Goldberg in a Night of Horrors rematch. Goldberg left the ring as the show went to commercial.

Backstage, the fire alarm is going off and several crew members run into a spare dressing room. A pile of photographs of Luna Vachon lay burning on the floor. The crew members quickly extinguished the flames and noticed written on the wall in red paint the words: BETRAYAL OF THY SISTER.

Ivory defeated Leilani Kai in 6:32 by pinfall after the Poison Ivory to advance to the fatal fourway match to crown the new LCW Women’s Champion at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special. During the match, Kai gave Ivory a powerful big boot and climbed on top of the turnbuckle to do the Hawaiian Splash. Ivory recovered just in time and avoided the attack. Kai stumbled to her feet, only to have her face mashed into the mat by Ivory's devastating Poison Ivory.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out again with the tumbler and LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. Calaway drew Dan Spivey’s name as Austin’s opponent tonight and then drew the other nine names as contenders for the next nine weeks: Manny Fernandez, Kevin Sullivan, Brutus Beefcake, Bob Backlund, Hollywood John Tatum, Honky Tonk Man, Dirty Dutch Mantel, Greg Valentine, and Tracy Smothers. Calaway sent Austin to the ring and called out Dan Spivey who attempted to come to ringside with Sid Vicious, but Calaway stopped Vicious and made him walk to the back.

LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin defeated Dan Spivey in 5:28 by pinfall after the Stone Cold Stunner. After the match, Sid Vicious ran down to ringside and attacked Austin, hitting him with a chokeslam. Vicious then moved to Spivey and helped him to his feet before hitting him with a chokeslam as well. Austin went to hit Vicious with a Stunner, but only managed to kick Vicious as he rolled out of the ring before Austin could grab him for the Stunner. Vicious backed up the entrance ramp, keeping his eyes on Austin the entire time. Spivey slowly made his way to his feet and moved to attack Austin, but Austin spun around and hit Spivey with the Stone Cold Stunner before leaving ringside and chasing Vicious up the ramp as the show went off the air.
