LCW Showdown Television Results 09.23.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (September 23, 2009) live from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.

Tonight’s episode if dedicated in loving memory to Lester Welch and Karl Afflis.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special three-hour edition of LCW Showdown. They then reviewed footage from last week’s edition of LCW Showdown and the attack of LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin by number one contender Sid Vicious. Vicious attacked Austin before a match and powerbombed him on the entrance stage. Schiavone reported that Austin was released from the hospital last week and would be interviewed live via satellite from his home in Victoria, Texas tonight to talk about his condition after the attack and rumors that he won’t be medically cleared to defend the title against Vicious at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view on Sunday, October 11th.

LCW Heritage Champion Bret Hart and One Man Gang defeated Honky Tonk Man (with Jimmy Hart) and Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) in 5:39 by disqualification after Kevin Sullivan hit Gang with a steel chair. During the match, Sullivan demanded that Vachon go around to the other side of the ring and distract Gang. At first Vachon refused, but he grabbed her and yelled at her to do it. Vachon reluctantly went to the other side of the ring, jumped up on the ring apron and distracted the referee as Sullivan grabbed a steel chair and jumped up on the ring apron. Vachon told the referee to turn around and pointed at Sullivan as he blasted Gang with the steel chair. The referee called for the bell and awarded the match to Hart and Gang by disqualification as Vachon left ringside with Sullivan trailing behind her, yelling at her all the way up the entrance ramp and to the back.

In the back, LCW General Manager Harley Race approached Sid Vicious. Race told Vicious that what he did was inexcusable, disgusting and cowardly. Race said he was removing Sid Vicious from the main event at the LCW Night of Horrors and removing his status as the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Race said he warned Vicious that if he interfered in the match he would be removed as the number one contender. Vicious told Race that he didn’t interfere in the match. He said he attacked Austin before the match. Race added that Vicious attacked him from behind like a coward. Vicious said, “Why don’t I show you what a coward I am, old man?” Race got in Vicious’ face and said, “I really wish you would. I wish you’d give me a reason not only kicking your ass, but a reason to send you to the unemployment line.” Vicious backed off and said he didn’t care what Race did, but wanted Race to remember that he didn’t interfere in the match. Vicious walked away.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

The Young Stallions defeated Black Bart and Dirty Dutch Mantel in 6:18 by pinfall when Paul Roma pinned Mantel after Marty Jannetty interfered and hit Mantel with the Rocker Dropper. Before the match, LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest commentary during the match. They spoke about how impressed they were by the spark that had been lit in the Young Stallions since they had reunited. Brian Knobbs said they weren’t taking anybody lightly and they’d take on all comers. When asked about Bart and Mantel, Jerry Sags said they’d need some more time together before they could be considered a threat to the Nasty Boys reign as champions. Zbyszko asked about the Bass Brothers and Sags said, “Now, those boys, we’d like to see some more of those boys in the ring. They’re almost as nasty as we are, man.” After the match, Jannetty celebrated the victory with Roma and Powers as the Nasty Boys looked on and nodded approvingly when Roma and Powers signaled to them from the ring. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted that, regardless of the means, the Young Stallions continued their unprecedented winning streak. Suddenly, the Bass Brothers, with Maw Bass, ran down to the ring and attacked the Young Stallions and Marty Jannetty. Bart and Mantel joined the attack until the Nasty Boys left the broadcast booth and cleared the heels out of the ring. Bart, Mantel, and the Bass Brothers retreated with Maw Bass as the Nasty Boys challenged them to get back into the ring.

In a pre-recorded, sit-down interview, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW General Manager Harley Race about the reinstated LCW Women's Championship. Race explained why the title was reinstated saying, "We came to the decision that although we have the utmost respect for Madusa and her decision to surrender the Women's Title, the choice to disband the Women's Division was wrong. It wasn't fair to the Lady Legends and it wasn't fair to the fans.” Mooney then asked what the plans for the LCW Women's Championship were and Race replied that a twenty-woman battle royal had been scheduled for the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view on Sunday, October 11th, with the last eight Lady Legends in the ring moving on a single elimination tournament. The winners of the four opening round matches would then go on to the LCW Showdown at The Chase Television Special on Saturday, November 7th, to wrestle in a fatal fourway match with the winner of that match going on to face former LCW Women’s Champion Madusa in a one-on-one match to crown the new LCW Women's Champion. When asked who would be featured in the battle royal, Race said to Mooney, “Mooney, check this out.” Race pointed in the camera and a video played featuring the Veronicas’ “4ever” and video footage of the Lady Legends in the battle royal: Leilani Kai, Donna Christanello, Judy Martin, Mad Maxine, Peggy Lee Leather, Terri Powers, Debbie Combs, Rockin' Robin, Wendi Richter, Ivory, Joyce Grable, Velvet McIntyre, Jacqueline, Susan Sexton, Heidi Lee Morgan, Lady Apache, Spider Lady, Bambi, and Candi Deivne. Mooney finished by saying that he's sure the fans will be excited about the return of the Lady Legends, thanked Harley Race for his time and said to stay tuned for the first match of the new Women's Divsion. Race said there was one more entrant into the battle royal that we didn’t know about and it would be a match between Velvet McIntyre and Kevin Sullivan’s hand picked replacement for Luna Vachon’s in the battle royal. Race said he was interested to see who Sullivan had selected to be Vachon’s replacement and Mooney said he was as interested as well and he was sure so too were all the fans. Mooney said we’d find out who Luna Vachon’s replacement was right after the commercial break.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko discussed the women’s division and the video which featured footage of a woman in a black mask and black bodysuit named Spider Lady. Zbyszko said he wanted to know who that was. Schiavone said, “Well, whoever’s under that mask we know it’s not the Fabulous Moolah, may she rest in peace.”

Kevin Sullivan came out with Luna Vachon and got into the ring. Sullivan explained how last week LCW General Manager Harley Race offered Luna Vachon a spot in the Lady Legends battle royal at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view on Sunday, October 11th. Sullivan said he wanted her focused on what he was focused on: destroying the One Man Gang, especially now that she’s the special guest referee in his match with Gang at Night of Horrors. Sullivan said she knew what she had to do and she was going to do it. Sullivan said he had arranged to have someone to take Luna’s place in the battle royal and introduced Luna’s sister…Lock! Lock came out and got in the ring for a match with Velvet McIntyre.

Lock (with Kevin Sullivan and Luna Vachon) defeated Velvet McIntyre in 4:47 by pinfall after a Hammerlock Suplex pin that Tony Shiavone said has been nicknamed the Lock, Stock & Barrel. Madusa’s entrance song began to play over the speakers. She came out and stood at the entrance stage with the LCW Women's Championship belt and locked eyes with Lock. Madusa raised the belt up over her head and the crowd roared.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko talked about the upcoming interview, live via satellite from his home in Victoria, Texas with LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. A production assistant was seen placing a lapel microphone on Austin as he spoke with Jesse The Body Ventura.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage from last week’s edition of LCW Showdown on which the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship, Sid Vicious, attacked LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. After showing the footage, Schiavone introduced Jesse The Body Ventura who appeared on the LegendsTron live via satellite from Austin’s Victoria, Texas home. Ventura introduced Austin and asked him about his condition. Austin said he was feeling fine. He said Vicious’ powerbomb gave him a Grade II concussion, but he would be in the ring at LCW Night of Horrors to defend his title like a champion. LCW General Manager Harley Race came out and apologized for the interruption. Race said he already knew that Austin wouldn’t be medically cleared to wrestle at Night of Horrors. Race said the doctors had told him that Austin should not wrestle for at least 30 days. He said he didn’t want to strip Austin of the title for failure to defend the title within the 30-day limit. Race suggested that someone defend the title on his behalf at Night of Horrors. Race said to Austin, “If your replacement can successfully defend the title on your behalf,” Race said, “He will automatically become the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view in November.” Austin didn’t look happy, but listened as Race continued, “However, if Sid Vicious does manage to defeat the man who replaces you in the Night of Horrors main event and becomes the new LCW Universal Champion, you will automatically be the number one contender at Redemption Day.” Austin said he didn’t like the arrangement, but he’d have to deal with it. Austin asked who would be taking his place at Night of Horrors and Race said he was glad Austin asked. Race said that next week on LCW Showdown, a match will take place between two men to determine who would go on to Night of Horrors to replace Austin and take on Sid Vicious. Race said those to men were the former LCW Universal Champions: Magnum TA and Bill Goldberg! Austin said that no matter what happened, no matter who won, whether Sid Vicious won the title or not, Vicious had a target on his back and was going to get his ass kicked. Austin said, “It’s just a matter of when and where, but it’s going to happen. And that’s the bottom line ‘cause Stone Cold said so!”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Paul Orndorff defeated Bill Goldberg in 6:22 by disqualification after LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page interfered and hit Orndorff with the Diamond Cutter. After the match, LCW General Manager Harley Race came out and announced that at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view Page would defend his title against Paul Orndorff. He added that tonight, Page would defend the title against Magnum TA…right after the commercial break!

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Stan Hansen defeated Marty Jannetty in 1:06 by pinfall after the Lariat clothesline. After the match, as Stan Hansen was making his way up the entrance ramp, he was approached by Col. Robert Parker who put his arm around Hansen and walked with him to the back saying he wanted to talk business with Hansen.

The lights in the arena went out and thunder rolled and lightning struck the LegendsTron before a video package aired featuring religious symbolism and a voiceover that said, “He will show you the truth, the light, the way. His was a heart blackened by deceit, but you believed in him and gave him the strength to carry on. The Veritas is coming…”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Baby Doll came out with Tully Blanchard for the “Doll House” interview segment. Doll introduced her special guest, the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez. Fernandez told Blanchard to stay away from him because, “I still hate your guts and I’d just as quick cut you and leave you for dead, daddy, as you left me…” Baby Doll calmed Fernandez down and told him that Blanchard wasn’t why he was there. Doll said, “You’re here to talk about Tito Santana.” Fernandez said, “That’s right, Baby Doll, I am. You just make sure that piece of crap (pointing to Tully Blanchard) stays in that seat.” Fernandez said he kept taking the fight to Tito Santana, “but just like a cowardly matador running from a bull, he keeps running the other way.” Tito Santana came out and ran down to ringside and into the ring. Baby Doll quickly exited the ring as Blanchard attacked Santana as he got into the ring. The two men brawled until Santana managed to gain the upper hand and threw Blanchard out of the ring. Fernandez charged toward Santana and Santana threw him into the Doll House set, knocking it down. Blanchard got back in the ring and attacked Santana from behind. Blanchard hit Santana with the slingshot suplex before leaving ringside with Baby Doll. Fernandez locked the Bull’s Brand triangle choke as security came out and pulled him off Santana and out of the ring as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) in 7:55 by pinfall after the Oklahoma Stampede. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted that with Bill Goldberg on the cusp of being the man designated to defend the title on LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin’s behalf at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view, he could have to wrestle twice at the event if he can beat Magnum TA next week. Zbyszko said that if he does have to wrestle twice, he shouldn’t look past Williams.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Wildfire Tommy Rich (with Missy Hyatt) defeated Tracy Smothers in 6:08 by pinfall after the Wildfire Driver. During the match, Austin Idol provided guest commentary with Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth. After the match, Rich turned his attention to Idol in the broadcast booth and said, “You’re next.” Idol stood up and said, “We don’t have to wait, Rich. We can do this right now.” Suddenly, Hollywood John Tatum attacked Idol from behind and slammed his head into the broadcast booth and tried to choke him out with the headset wire as security officials arrived and dragged Tatum away. As he was being pulled away, Tatum was heard screaming, “I did it for you, Missy. I did it for you!”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

In the back, LCW General Manager Harley Race approached Wildfire Tommy Rich and Missy Hyatt and told them that next week on LCW Showdown they would be teaming with Hollywood John Tatum to take on the team of Austin Idol and Tracy Smothers.

Magnum TA defeated LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page in 9:42 by disqualification after Sid Vicious interfered and attacked Magnum TA. Moments later, Bill Goldberg came out and hit Magnum with a spear as he was getting back to his feet. Vicious and Goldberg stood face to face as the show went off the air.
