LCW Showdown Television Results 05.27.09
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko talked about the return of Ric Flair to WWE and his departure from LCW. They also discussed the fact that Barry Windham had been selected as his replacement in the main event match at LCW SuperClash to face LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA for the title. Schiavone noted that on LCW’s Official Twitter account (twitter.com/lcwrestling) there were rumors that Flair had met with LCW Founder Christian Calaway, LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner, and Magnum TA to discuss salvaging the main event at SuperClash, but that nothing had come of the meeting, if it even really happened.
In the ring, a table was setup and Sean Mooney introduced LCW Founder Christian Calaway and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA. After they got in the ring and took their places at the table, Mooney introduced the number one contender for the title, Barry Windham, who came out with JJ Dillon, LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard, and Baby Doll. Windham and Dillon sat down at the table across from Magnum and Calaway. Magnum TA signed the contract without saying a word. As Windham went to sign the contract, LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner came out and said, “Wait a minute. Wait a minute! Mr. Windham, please don’t sign that contract.” Turner had a contract in his hand and got into the ring. He announced that he was removing Windham from the main event. Calaway said he couldn’t just take someone out of the main event and, more importantly, he couldn’t just remove someone who had earned his spot in the main event. Turner said he could just take someone out of the main event because he was the Chairman of the Board and, as for Windham earning his spot, Turner said, with a smile on his face, “From what I saw last week, he wouldn’t have stood much of a chance against Stone Cold Steve Austin without help from Bill Goldberg.” Turner then introduced Windham’s replacement in the main event…the Nature Boy Ric Flair! Flair came out and got in the ring and shook Windham’s hand. Turner said Flair would take Windham’s place because he deserves to be the number one contender. He also said he was taking a certain amount of pride in giving Flair the match just because it pissed Calaway off. Calaway reminded Turner that due to the lawyers and the LCW Board of Directors, he and Turner had to function under a code of “operational compromise.” Calaway said, “With that in mind, I’m all right with Ric Flair being the number one contender…when he earns it. So if you want Flair to be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship, well, he’s going to have to earn it. In the interest of ‘operational compromise,’ I’ll give you Ric Flair in the main event for the LCW Universal Champion against Magnum TA in Charlotte, NC, if he can beat…Barry Windham tonight!” Flair, Dillon, and Windham threw a fit, but Calaway stood his ground and said, “That’s how it’s going to be boys. You can thank Ted Turner.” Magnum and Calaway walked out of the ring as Turner talked with Dillon, Flair, and Windham as the show went to commercial.

In the back, LCW Founder Christian Calaway approached LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner and said, “You know, Teddy, since we’re working so well together with the ‘operational compromise’ I thought maybe tonight you and I might stage an epic main event. Now, while it doesn’t get much better than Horseman vs. Horseman, I think we can do one better. How about a double main event? How about a tag team match? How about you take Bill Goldberg and team him with Diamond Dallas Page and we pit them against two of my guys?” Turner laughed and said, “You have guys?” Calaway said he had guys and Turner dismissively said, “Sure, whatever.” Calaway asked if Turner wanted to know who Goldberg and Page would be facing and Turner said, “Sure, whatever.” Calaway whistled and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Stone Cold Steve Austin walked up and stood next to him. Calaway said, “I’m sure you saw the wrestling clinics these two put on when they were in the ring together a few years ago. I mean, we’re talking Matches of the Year, genuine classics. Imagine what they can do as a team. Good luck, Teddy.” Calaway, Austin, and Magnum walked away as Turner looked on shocked.
Kevin Sullivan (with Sir Oliver Humperdink and Luna Vachon) defeated Ken Patera in 5:52 by pinfall after the double stomp. Before the match, Humperdink said that he picked up Ken Patera when the Disciples of Allah threw him out. Humperdink welcomed Patera to come to the New House of Humperdink with he and Sullivan. Patera answered Humperdink with a punch that knocked him down to the mat and Humperdink rolled out of the ring as Sullivan attacked Patera from behind to start the match. After the match, Paul Orndorff came out and said he was tired of chasing Sullivan. He challenged Sullivan to a match next week, but Sullivan refused saying he didn’t want to waste his time with Orndorff anymore. Orndorff suggested making it a handicap match. Orndorff said he would take on Sullivan and a partner, but only if he could pick the partner. Sullivan laughed and said he didn’t want to fall into a trap, but he liked mind games so he would play along. Sullivan agreed to the match and asked who his partner would be. Orndorff smiled and said, “Sir Oliver Humperdink!” Humperdink looked shocked and didn’t want to be in the match, but Sullivan said everything would be all right and they would take care of Paul Orndorff once and for all together. They both smiled as Orndorff walked away.
In the back, the Destruction Crew approached Manny Fernandez and Terry Funk, who were holding the vacated LCW World Tag Team Championships and the vacated LCW United States Tag Team Championships. Mike Enos said they were serious about a title shot and wanting to be the first challengers when Funk and Fernandez officially unified the titles at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view. Fernandez said they might just have a way for the Destruction Crew to prove themselves worthy contenders. Funk and Fernandez walked away and the Destruction Crew looked at each other and Bloom said, “Wait a minute? Aren’t we the team that sent Demolition packing? What the hell do we need to prove?” They walked away.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed former LCW United States Champion Rick Martel about his rematch with the new LCW United States Champion Macho Man Randy Savage. Martel said if it wasn’t for Tito Santana, he’d still be the champion. He said he was going to make everything right again and regain the title tonight. “And if Santana wanted to interfere in my business again, maybe I’ll just have to break his back again,” Martel said before walking away as the show went to commercial.

In the middle of the crowd, Martel tripped and Santana got his hands on Martel and managed to lock him in the Boston Crab. Security officials arrived and tried to get Santana to release the hold, but he refused. They eventually managed to pull him off of Martel and Martel crawled away as security held Santana back.

In the back, Manny Fernandez and Terry Funk confronted Big Van Vader in the locker room and said they had a match for him and his new partner tonight, if he even had a partner. Vader said his partner was already in the building. Funk and Fernandez said they’ll face the Destruction Crew tonight. Vader told Funk and Fernandez to bring it on, but not to forget what this was all about: the titles that Funk and Fernandez were holding over their shoulders. Funk and Fernandez walked away as Vader continued preparing for action.
Baby Doll came out to host the “Doll House” interview segment and introduced her guest, Missy Hyatt. Missy came out and said she agreed to talk with Baby Doll and work everything out like women. Baby Doll started talking about Wildfire Tommy Rich and how proud she must be to have taken him to the LCW Television Championship. Baby Doll said she was proud of Tully Blanchard and his multiple title runs in Legends Championship Wrestling including his current run as the LCW International Champion. Missy said Baby Doll must be proud of her interview segment as well, the “Doll House.” Baby Doll said she was proud, but not as proud as Missy Hyatt must have been to host “Missy’s Manor,” during her time in the WWF. Missy said even though it didn’t work out, she was proud just like she was proud of her time with Hot Stuff & Hyatt International. Baby Doll laughed and asked if Missy was seriously trying to compare a third rate, territorial group with the most dominant, elite, and respected group in professional wrestling history, the Four Horsemen. Baby Doll said, “And Missy, you must be so proud of your little website, MissyHyatt.com, where you pose naked for horny little perverts and, in spite of all your plastic surgery, the fake tits and the posing naked, you still can’t get a spread in Playboy. I’ve been asked three times to be in Playboy, twice in the ‘80s and once again only two years ago. See, the biggest difference between you and me, Missy, is that you give it away almost for free, but me, they can’t afford me.” Missy got in Baby Doll’s face and both women dropped their microphones, but Missy could be overheard saying something about Sam Houston. At that point, Baby Doll tackled Missy and started laying in punches. Missy grabbed Baby Doll by the hair and turned her over and started punching Baby Doll. Tully Blanchard ran out and pulled Missy, kicking and screaming, off of Baby Doll. Wildfire Tommy Rich, Hollywood John Tatum, and Austin Idol ran out and attacked Tully Blanchard, beating him down and tearing apart the “Doll House” set, using the pieces of the set as weapons on Blanchard. Satisfied that they had sufficiently beaten down Blanchard, Rich, Idol, and Tatum walked away from ringside with Hyatt.
In the production truck, Dynamite Kid talked with a security guard from Duluth, GA, who showed Dynamite a video tape from the Gwinnett Arena where he was attacked in April. The cameraman tried to get the best angle to see the videotape, but the audience couldn’t really see who was attacking Dynamite. The security guard said, “Isn’t that who I think that is? I mean, it’s him, right?” Dynamite said, “You’re damn right it’s him. Son of a bitch.” Dynamite stormed out of the production truck as the show went to commercial.
{COMMERCIAL BREAK}
The Skyscrapers defeated the Orient Express (with Mr. Fuji and Slick) in 5:21 by disqualification after Mr. Fuji interfered and broke his cane over Spivey’s back as Spivey had Sato in a bear hug and Slick distracted the referee. After the match, Sid Vicious grabbed Slick and pulled him into the ring, hitting him with the powerbomb before leaving ringside with Spivey. Medical officials came out and took Slick from ringside on a stretcher.
{COMMERCIAL BREAK}
The Dynamite Kid came out and passed by Slick who was being wheeled to the back beside the entrance ramp as Dynamite made his way to the ring. He asked the Hart Foundation to join him in the ring and Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart came out and got in the ring with Dynamite. Dynamite said he saw video tape footage from a security camera in the arena the night he was attacked and he knows who attacked him…Jim Neidhart! Hart wouldn’t believe it and said it couldn’t be Neidhart. Neidhart said it was true. He was the one that attacked Dynamite. Dynamite went to attack Neidhart, but Hart held him back. Neidhart said he did it for them, for the team. He said the Hart Foundation deserved the title shot, not Hart and Dynamite. He says he did it for Hart. Neidhart said everything he had ever done was for Hart. He said he took a bullet last week when he pushed him out of the way and took the Spear from Goldberg. Hart said he didn’t want to hear it and said that what Neidhart did was wrong and crossed the line. Neidhart said that was Hart’s problem. He wasn’t willing to cross the line. He wasn’t willing to do what it took, whatever it took, to be the best, to get the job done. Neidhart said Hart was holding them back and he was tired of it. Hart said he had enough and if this was the way Neidhart wanted to play things then they were through as a team. Hart went to leave the ring with Dynamite, but Neidhart attacked Hart from behind. Dynamite pulled Neidhart off of Hart and threw him into the corner. Dynamite went to check on Hart, and Neidhart chop blocked Dynamite’s injured knee, sending him down to the mat, writhing in pain as Neidhart left the ring laughing.

LCW Heritage Champion Nikita Koloff wrestled Abdullah the Butcher (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) to a no contest in 4:10 after the Disciples of Allah interfered and attacked Koloff. After the match, as the Disciples of Allah continued attacking Koloff, Sgt. Slaughter and Ken Patera came out and cleared the heels out of the ring. Patera challenged the Disciples of Allah to a six-man tag team match at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view. If he, Slaughter and Koloff won the match, the Disciples of Allah would have to disband. General Skandor Akbar came out with Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie and Akbar said he would need something in return if the Disciples of Allah won. Akbar said he wanted the LCW Heritage Championship on the line. When a member of the Disciples of Allah scores the deciding pinfall or submission victory, regardless of who they pin or make submit, the title will change hands. The man with the decision victory will be the new LCW Heritage Champion, regardless of whether they pin Koloff, Slaughter, or Patera. Koloff agreed and the match was official as the Disciples of Allah walked away.

Bill Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page (with LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner) defeated LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Stone Cold Steve Austin (with LCW Founder Christian Calaway) in 8:34 by disqualification after Dr. Death Steve Williams interfered and hit Page with a Spear. After the match, Calaway said he was tired of “operational compromise” and he wanted his damn company back. Calaway suggested that Bill Goldberg and Stone Cold Steve Austin square off at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view with Turner and Calaway in the respective corners with the respective winner getting control of the company. Turner agreed and said when Goldberg beat Austin he didn’t want to see Calaway’s face ever again.
In the back, Barry Windham approached JJ Dillon and asked him if he was going to accompany him to ringside. Dillon said he thought it was best that he stay in the back. Windham said he understood and shook Dillon’s hand. Dillon wished him luck and Windham walked away as the show went to commercial.
