LCW Showdown Television Results 05.20.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (May 20, 2009) live from the Cajundome in Lafayette, LA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special three-hour edition of LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko talked about the LCW Uprising pay-per-view two weeks ago including the return of Ric Flair and the fact that he attacked LCW Universal Championship Magnum TA after Barry Windham’s failed attempt to win the title.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out and talked about being attacked by Ric Flair two weeks ago at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view. Magnum said he had been trying to find Flair since then, but Flair had been avoiding him. Magnum said he had heard that Flair had decided to hide from him and went back to the WWE. Magnum said Flair made the right decision by not being in the arena tonight. On the LegendsTron, a limousine was seen arriving in the parking lot. LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard, Baby Doll, Barry Windham, and JJ Dillon got out of the limousine as a black pickup truck sped past them. The pickup truck drove into the arena as Stone Cold Steve Austin’s entrance music started playing over the public address system. Austin pulled the truck up to ringside and got out of the trucking, posing for the crowd before getting in the ring with Magnum TA. Austin grabbed a microphone and said he didn’t mean to interrupt, but the last time he and Magnum TA were in a ring together they tore the damn house down. Austin said he had heard that LCW SuperClash was just around the corner and he couldn’t imagine a better way to remove the bad taste that last year’s SuperClash left in his mouth than beating Magnum TA for the LCW Universal Championship. Magnum said there was no one else in professional wrestling who had earned his respect over the past four years more than Austin. Magnum said it would be an honor to defend the title against him SuperClash, but he had business to settle with Ric Flair first. Magnum said he didn’t care what Flair was doing up north, but he wanted Flair to be a man and show up so he could kick Flair’s ass in the heart of Horsemen country. LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard, Baby Doll, JJ Dillon and Barry Windham came out and joined Austin and Magnum in the ring. Dillon said he was glad that Magnum and Austin had come to an agreement that worked for them, but it didn’t work for him. Dillon said he wanted a rematch for Windham for the LCW Universal Championship at LCW SuperClash. Austin said that wasn’t going to happen and he’d kick Windham’s ass if he had to make sure that it didn’t happen. LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner came out with Eric Bischoff, Diamond Dallas Page, and Bill Goldberg. Turner announced that at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view on Sunday, June 14th, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA would defend his title against Barry Windham. Dillon smiled and the audience exploded in a chorus of boos. Dillon told Austin that it helped to have friends in high places. Austin smiled back and said, “I know what you mean.” LCW Founder Christian Calaway came out and said that at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view on Sunday, June 14th, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA would defend his title against Stone Cold Steve Austin. Windham and Dillon threw a fit and Dillon told Calaway that he couldn’t do that. On the LegendsTron, the Board of Directors appeared and Bruno Sammartino said, “Actually, Mr. Dillon, he can do that. But, unfortunately, Mr. Turner can also name you as the number one contender for the title. Because the lawyers are still working to determine who is indeed in charge of Legends Championship Wrestling, who is the Chairman of the Board, we’re forced to make…operational compromise. There’s only one way to settle this issue of who is the official number one contender. Tonight, on LCW Showdown, in the main event Barry Windham will face Stone Cold Steve Austin one on one to determine the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view Sunday, June 14th.” The LegendsTron went dark as Windham and Blanchard attacked Austin and Magnum. Austin and Magnum started to gain the upper hand, but Turner sent Goldberg and Page to the ring. Calaway called to the back for reinforcements and Dr. Death Steve Williams, Nikita Koloff, and Macho Man Randy Savage, and the Hart Foundation came out and, with Austin and Magnum, cleared Windham, Blanchard, Goldberg and Page out of the ring. Williams, Koloff, and Savage stayed in the ring and Magnum and Austin stood face to face and as Windham signaled that the title would be his as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Television Champion Wildfire Tommy Rich defeated Koko B. Ware in 6:33 by pinfall after the Wildfire Driver. During the match, Missy Hyatt jumped up on the ring apron to distract Koko B. Ware, but Baby Doll came out and pulled her off the ring apron and the two women brawled as Rich hit Ware with the Wildfire Driver for the pinfall and the win. After the match, Rich pulled Baby Doll off of Hyatt. LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard came out and pushed Rich away and told him to keep his hands off of Baby Doll. He warned Rich that the next time he touched Baby Doll, he’d kick his ass. Blanchard went to walk away with Baby Doll, but Missy Hyatt swung him around and slapped him across the face and then went after Baby Doll as Rich attacked Blanchard. Blanchard managed to gain the upper hand and tackled Rich down to the arena floor, hitting him with several punches and then kicking at him before walking away to separate Missy and Baby Doll again. He pulled Baby Doll away, but Missy kept trying to get at her. Blanchard grabbed Missy by the arms and pushed her down to the floor where Rich was laying. Blanchard walked away with Baby Doll.

In the back, LCW Founder Christian Calaway was with LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Nikita Koloff, Macho Man Randy Savage and the Hart Foundation. Calaway thanked them for their loyalty and said if there was anything he could do for them all they had to do was ask.

In the back, an irate LCW Television Champion Wildfire Tommy Rich, with Missy Hyatt, confronted Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum and berated them for not coming out to help him with Tully Blanchard. Idol and Tatum said they thought Rich had everything handled. Rich yelled at them and said he didn’t have it handled and he needed them. Rich said if they didn’t have his back he’d find someone who would. He said they could be replaced and walked away with Missy.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Manny Fernandez and Terry Funk came out with the LCW World Tag Team Championships and the LCW United States Tag Team Championships and declared themselves the Unified Tag Team Champions. One Man Gang and Big Van Vader came out and Vader said neither Fernandez nor Funk could call themselves the champions. Vader said he only knew one way to settle this: the two of them, Gang and Vader, come down to the ring and kick Fernandez and Funk’s asses. Vader and Gang left the entrance stage and started making their way down the entrance ramp.

Manny Fernandez and Terry Funk wrestled Big Van Vader and One Man Gang to a no contest in 3:28 after Vader and Gang started brawling with each other. After the match, LCW Founder Christian Calaway came out and announced that as of the LCW Uprising pay-per-view two weeks ago, the LCW World Tag Team Championships and the LCW United States Tag Team Championships were vacant. Calaway announced that at LCW SuperClash there would be a triple threat match to officially unify the LCW World and United States Tag Team Championships. Calaway said he had selected partners and just as he was about to announce the partners, LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner came out and said Calaway couldn’t make this decision unilaterally. Turner said he wanted to allow Vader and Gang to pick their own partners and Calaway agreed to the decision. Turner said next week Gang and Vader would announce their partners for the triple threat match at LCW SuperClash.

In the back, the Dynamite Kid, still on crutches after being attacked by an unknown assailant backstage last month, was talking with the Hart Foundation. Dynamite said he was narrowing in on who attacked him and he was going to speak with a janitor who may have seen who attacked him. In the back, Diamond Dallas Page and Bill Goldberg walked by and started making jokes about the Dynamite Kid and the Hart Foundation had to hold Dynamite back. Bret Hart suggested that Page should be more worried about Dr. Death Steve Williams. Page went to attack Hart, but Goldberg held him back and said, “Maybe you boys should just be worried about us tonight.”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Macho Man Randy Savage defeated LCW United States Champion Rick Martel in 9:47 by pinfall to win the LCW United States Championship after the flying elbow smash after Tito Santana interfered and hit Martel with a flying forearm smash. After the match, Santana chased Martel from ringside.

In the back, Sir Oliver Humperdink, Kevin Sullivan, and Luna Vachon were watching the footage of Humperdink turning on Paul Orndorff two weeks ago at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view. They laughed as they watched Humperdink hit Orndorff with his cane. Humperdink said he was tearing down the New House of Humperdink and rebuilding it better and stronger than ever before and he was laying the foundation with Kevin Sullivan. Humperdink said they had to tear down the New House of Humperdink and they were going to start with Don Muraco tonight.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Kevin Sullivan (with Sir Oliver Humperdink and Luna Vachon) defeated Don Muraco in 6:10 by disqualification after Paul Orndorff came out and attacked Sullivan, chasing him through the crowd and to the back. As Orndorff chased Sullivan through the crowd, Humperdink got in the ring with Muraco and was going to hit him with his cane, but Muraco got to his feet and grabbed Humperdink, but Vachon hit Muraco with a low blow. As Muraco fell to the mat, Humperdink and Vachon left ringside.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Diamond Dallas Page, the new King of the Legends, came out wearing his robe, crown, and carrying his scepter, came out with Eric Bischoff and Bill Goldberg. They got into the ring and Bischoff introduced Page as the King of the Legends. They demanded that the crew members bring Page’s throne into the ring so they could proceed with his coronation ceremony that was rudely interrupted by Dr. Death Steve Williams two weeks ago at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view when Page beat Williams in the finals of the King of the Legends tournament. Bischoff said Page beat Williams clean, fair and square, without any doubt or question. He said Page hit him with the Diamond Cutter and it was all over, but Williams couldn’t accept defeat like a man and instead he decided to attack Page like a coward during his coronation ceremony. Footage from the attack, including Williams hitting Page with the spear through the throne and breaking the throne, played on the LegendsTron. Bischoff asked again for crew members to bring out Page’s throne. Dr. Death Steve Williams came out carrying the broken pieces of the throne and asked if this was what Page and Bischoff were looking for. Williams said the throne was just the start of the devastation he was going to unleash on them. Williams told Page and Bischoff to take a good, long look at the broken throne because Williams was going to break Page just like he had broken the throne. Williams walked away as Page and Bischoff looked on, worried, and stared at the broken throne on the entrance stage.

The Hart Foundation came out to face Bill Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Bill Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page (with Eric Bischoff) defeated the Hart Foundation in 7:53 by pinfall when Goldberg pinned Jim Neidhart with a devastating Spear and the Jackhammer. During the match, Goldberg was going to hit Bret Hart with the Spear, but Neidhart pushed Hart out of the way and Goldberg hit Neidhart with the Spear instead. After the Spear, Neidhart was limp and Goldberg had a hard time picking him up off the mat to hit him with the Jackhammer as Hart and Page brawled outside the ring. After the match, Neidhart had to be taken from ringside on a stretcher.

In the back, Slick, with a big smile on his face, was shown walking through the arena corridor with Butch Reed and Ron Simmons as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Doom (with Slick) defeated the Bushwhackers in 0:29 by pinfall when Ron Simmons pinned Luke after the Dominator. After the match, Slick said Doom was back in Legends Championship Wrestling and they didn’t want to waste their time with losers like the Bushwhackers and they wanted to be the first team to face the LCW Unified Tag Team Championship no matter which team comes out of LCW SuperClash as the champions. The lights went out in the arena and the Skyscrapers came out to the entrance stage. Sid Vicious said the Skyscrapers were back and the only team that was going to face the new LCW United Tag Team Champions after LCW SuperClash would be them. Sid Vicious said he and Dan Spivey had some issues a few months ago, but they took some time off, settled their issues and were back and better than ever. Doom suggested that they find out now who would be the first team to get a shot at the tag team titles after they are unified at LCW SuperClash.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the Hart Foundation about Jim Neidhart’s condition after being hit with the Spear and the Jackhammer. As the medic continued checking on Neidhart, Hart said that Neidhart was fine and he was just knocked out, but considering his history of concussions they thought it was best to take him from ringside on a stretcher. Hart thanked Neidhart sacrificing himself and taking the hit for the team.

In the back, LCW Heritage Champion Nikita Koloff was talking in Russian to someone on a cell phone when Sgt. Slaughter approached him. Koloff saw Slaughter and ended his conversation. The two men shook hands and Koloff congratulated Slaughter on his victory over Stan Hansen two weeks ago at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view. Slaughter congratulated Koloff on successfully defending his title against Butch Reed. Koloff thanked Slaughter and added that even though he won, it didn’t end so well. Slaughter said he saw that and suggested that maybe he and Koloff should team up sometime so he could help Koloff exact some revenge on Doom. Koloff said he liked that idea. Koloff said if Slaughter didn’t have anything to do tonight, maybe he’d like a shot at the LCW Heritage Championship tonight. Slaughter thanked Koloff for the opportunity and promised him a great match.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Heritage Champion Nikita Koloff wrestled Sgt. Slaughter to a no contest in 6:04 after the Disciples of Allah interfered and attacked both Koloff and Slaughter. After the match, the Disciples of Allah continued attacking Koloff and Slaughter, including Abdullah the Butcher who hit Koloff with the Sudanese Meat Cleaver before Ken Patera came out with a steel chair and cleared the Disciples of Allah out of the ring.

In the back, the Destruction Crew approached Manny Fernandez and Terry Funk, who were polishing the LCW World Tag Team Championships and the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. Mike Enos said, “The last time we saw you guys, we were helping you, Manny, kick this old man’s ass. So, since we’re all friends again, we were thinking maybe you’d give us a sot at the unified LCW Tag Team Championships. We might even be able to help you unify the titles at LCW SuperClash if it ensures that we get the first shot at the titles.” Fernandez and Funk laughed and Fernandez said, “You thought maybe we’d give you a shot at the unified LCW Tag Team Championships.” Funk said, “And we need your help to win the titles?” Fernandez and Funk laughed again and Funk said, “We thought maybe you’d get in line and earn a shot like everybody else.” Wayne Bloom said, “Look around you. Forget about what’s right in front of you. Doom wants a piece, the Skyscrapers are back, and there’s a locker room full of teams who are looking to take those titles from you. If you do happen to walk out of SuperClash with the titles, just remember, we’re coming for you and we’re going to get you and those titles at some point.” Bloom and Enos walked away.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Barry Windham (with JJ Dillon) defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin in 16:31 by pinfall to become the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship after Bill Goldberg interfered and hit Austin with the Spear and a Jackhammer.
