LCW Showdown Television Results 04.29.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (April 29, 2009) live from the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville, SC.

Tonight's episode of LCW Showdown is dedicated in loving memory to Playboy Buddy Rose.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena.

Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon), Abdullah the Butcher, and the Iron Sheik (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) defeated Don Muraco, Paul Orndorff, and Ken Patera (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) in 8:51 by pinfall when Sullivan pinned Orndorff with a rollup with his feet on the ropes. During the match, Patera left ringside, chasing Abdullah the Butcher through the crowd and to the back, basically turning the match into a tag team match.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the Hart Foundation and the Dynamite Kid and Dynamite, on crutches after being attacked last week from behind by an unknown assailant, said he would be out of action for several weeks, but that would give him time to find out who attacked him and time to plot his revenge.

Bischoff was on his cell phone and said, “Sure, whatever!” Bischoff continued with his call as Landel and Roma walked away satisfied.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage of Abdullah the Butcher defeating Don Muraco last week on LCW Showdown in an opening round match in the King of the Legends tournament. Schiavone noted that Abdullah would face the winner of the next opening round match in the tournament.

Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated Stan Hansen in 10:25 by pinfall in an opening round match in the King of the Legends tournament after Sgt. Slaughter interfered and hit Hansen with the Slaughter Cannon from the top rope. After the match, from the entrance stage, Sean Mooney interviewed Slaughter as Hansen slowly made his way to his feet. Slaughter told Hansen that when he woke up he had better realize that the days of attacking him from behind were over. Slaughter said he was going to take the battle to Hansen and they were going to settle their issues at Uprising in two weeks. He said Hansen Pearl Harbored him from behind for no reason last month. Slaughter had said Hansen had better study his history and realize that after Pearl Harbor came World War II, but Hansen’s Pearl Harboring him started World War III. Slaughter said he pulled the Slaughter Cannon out of mothballs. He said if Hansen wants to hit him with the Lariat from behind, from out of nowhere, he has a Lariat of his own, from the top rope, like an ICBM missile, the Slaughter Cannon. Hansen, now back to his feet, called Slaughter to come back into the ring. Slaughter said they would settle this at LCW Uprising, but told him to remember the Slaughter Cannon, because it wouldn’t be the last time he would feel it. Slaughter walked away as Hansen got out of the ring and made his way up the entrance ramp as the show went to commercial break.

In the back, Iceman King Parsons was looking for Dark Journey and he found her talking with LCW United States Champion Rick Martel. Parsons approached them and pulled Journey away. Martel told the upset Parsons to calm down and Parsons said he wasn’t going to calm down and warned Martel to stay away from Journey and to stay focused on their match at LCW Uprising because in two weeks Dark Journey wasn’t going to be the only thing that Parsons was going to be pulling away from Martel. He’d also be pulling the LCW United States Championship from him. Parsons and Journey walked away and Journey looked back at Martel and Martel smiled at her as she walked away.

Diamond Dallas Page came out with a black duffel bag and said last week he proved not only why he was the former Lord of the Ring and Battlebowl Champion, but why he deserved to be and already was King of the Legends. Page said he would play the game and win the tournament, but he already had the resume and already knew he was the King of Legends. Page pulled the WCW World Heavyweight Championship out of the bag that he brought with him into the ring. Page said he was the “three time, three time, three time” World Heavyweight Champion. He said that made him the real deal because, “this is the real deal, not like that piece of crap they carry around up North,” (referring to World Wrestling Entertainment)” He said Orndorff could boast and brag all he wanted to about being the LCW Universal Champion, but he only won the title once and Page was the World Heavyweight Championship three times! Page said he beat Orndorff last week and it didn’t matter whether it was Macho Man Randy Savage Page or his good friend Bill Goldberg who advanced in the tournament to face him in the semifinals because he would beat either one of them. Page left the entrance stage and joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth as the show went to commercial.

After the match, Hyatt left ringside with Rich and Tatum as Ware challenged Rich to get in the ring. Hyatt grabbed a microphone and said that Koko needed to worry about Austin Idol because he would have to go through him next week before he could get to Rich at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view. Hyatt said she was going to be a fair and impartial referee, but she had faith that Ware wouldn’t be able to get past Idol next week.
