LCW Showdown Television Results 03.11.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (March 11, 2009) live from the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, CA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone talked about Nick Bockwinkel quitting as LCW General Manager as a result of Ted Turner being named the new Chairman of the Board. Schiavone announced that they didn’t know who the new General Manager would be but they had been informed by the production truck that Ted Turner was here and was on his way to the arena.

LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner came out and introduced the new LCW General Manager… Eric Bischoff! Bischoff thanked Turner for the opportunity and said it was an honor to be back in Legends Championship Wrestling. The audience booed as Turner and Bischoff walked to the back.

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain (with Mr. Fuji) defeated Big Van Vader and Nikita Koloff in 7:19 by pinfall when the Barbarian pinned Vader after the flying headbutt. During the match, Kendo Nagasaki and the Great Kabuki came out and watched the match from the entrance ramp. After the match, the Powers of Pain turned their focus to Nagasaki and Kabuki and Fuji challenged them to get into the ring. Kabuki and Nagasaki stared them down for a moment before walking away.

In the back, LCW Television Champion Brutus The Barber Beefcake confronted new LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner and new LCW General Manager Eric Bischoff and demanded a match with Wildfire Tommy Rich, Austin Idol, and Hollywood John Tatum. Turner said he couldn’t wrestle all three of them at once and Bischoff said that wasn’t exactly true. Bischoff suggested a non-title gauntlet match. Bischoff added, “If any one of the three men can pin you, they will get a shot at the LCW Television Championship at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view in two weeks. However, if you can pin all three of them, I’ll let you pick your opponent for the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view in two weeks.” Beefcake thanked Bischoff and walked away.

LCW Television Champion Brutus The Barber Beefcake came out and called out Wildfire Tommy Rich, Austin Idol, and Hollywood John Tatum who came out with their manager Missy Hyatt. The three men argued over who would go into the ring first, presumably because the last man in the ring would have the best chance of securing the title shot at the LCW Breaking Point pay-per-view in two weeks, but Hyatt produced three straws and Idol drew the shortest straw, with Tatum drawing the second shortest straw and Rich getting the longest straw and therefore he would be facing Beefcake last.

LCW Television Champion Brutus The Barber Beefcake defeated Austin Idol (with Missy Hyatt) in 4:11 by pinfall in a non-title match after a high knee lift. After the match, Idol rolled out of the ring and left ringside with Hyatt and joined Rich on the entrance stage as Hyatt walked down to ringside with Hollywood John Tatum.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW Heritage Champion Kevin Sullivan, with valet Luna Vachon. Sullivan talked about becoming the LCW Heritage Champion and what a great champion he was, being honor and dignity back to the LCW Heritage Championship since taking it from Superstar Billy Graham last month. Paul Orndorff appeared and said he didn’t know how much dignity and honor he had brought to the title since he got a lucky break to win the tournament to even become the number one contender for the title in the first place and hadn’t defended the title once since winning it last month. Orndorff said, “Let’s cut to the chase, Sullivan. You have that because of me, because you beat me in the Heritage Contenders Tournament last month. Oh wait, that’s right, you never actually beat me. The Horsemen beat me down and took advantage of the beat down and pinned me." Orndorff said that Sullivan would be defending the title soon enough and would have to prove that he deserved to be the champion. Orndorff walked away.

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys defeated The Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) in 5:32 by pinfall when Brian Knobbs pinned Boris Zhukov after a running powerslam. Before the match, the number one contenders for the LCW World Tag Team Championships, Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater, came out with their manager Col. Robert Parker and joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth. Parker discussed turning on Maw Bass last week and said that he did what he had to do for his team and he did what was best for business. After the match, Maw Bass came out with the Long Riders and started arguing with Parker. Bass slapped Parker across the face as the Long Riders and the Stud Stable started brawling with each other beside the broadcast booth.
