LCW Showdown Television Results 03.04.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (March 4, 2009) live from the San Diego Sports Arena in San Diego, CA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone talked about last week’s main event which saw Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff defeat the Nature Boy Ric Flair in a rematch from their LCW Descent 2009 pay-per-view match. After the match last week, Flair walked out without the Four Horsemen. Footage was shown from LCW Showdown after it went off the air which featured Flair storming out of the arena and getting into a car with his gear and leaving the arena.

In the parking lot, Sean Mooney was waiting to interview the new LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner who was expected to arrive during the show. A limousine pulled up and Mooney assumed it was Turner, but it was J.J. Dillon, Tully Blanchard, Baby Doll, and Barry Windham that got out of the limousine instead. Mooney asked Dillon about the absence of The Nature Boy Ric Flair and Dillon said that Flair had taken a sabbatical from Legends Championship Wrestling to enjoy WrestleMania weekend and induct Ricky Steamboat into the WWE Hall of Fame. Mooney asked if Flair was upset about suffering his second loss to Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff in a single week last week on LCW Showdown. Dillon said Flair’s absence had nothing to do with his loss to Orndorff and added that if it wasn’t for Dr. Death Steve Williams last week and Tatsumi Fujinami at the LCW Descent 2009 pay-per-view, he would have never lost to Orndorff. Dillon assured Mooney that Orndorff and Williams would both be taken care of tonight. Windham, Blanchard, Baby Doll, and Dillon walked away.

The Iron Sheik (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) defeated Ken Patera (with Sgt. Slaughter) in 7:31 by knockout with the Camel Clutch after Abdullah the Butcher interfered and hit Patera with the Sudanese Meat Cleaver. During the match, the referee was knocked out and Akbar and Al-Kassie tried to interfere, but Slaugher pulled them off the ring apron and knocked each one of them out with a punch. Abdullah the Butcher then came out and rammed Slaugher into the steel ring post before getting into the ring and hitting Patera with the Sudanese Meat Cleaver. When the referee regained his senses, the Iron Sheik had a knocked out Patera in the Camel Clutch and the referee called for the bell. Abdullah, Sheik, Akbar, and Al-Kassie left ringside together as Slaughter crawled into the ring to check on Patera.

In the back, J.J. Dillon approached LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel in his office as he was packing a bag. Dillon asked Bockwinkel for a tag team match between Barry Windham and Tully Blanchard and the team of Paul Orndorff and Dr. Death Steve Williams. Bockwinkel started walking out of the office and Dillon followed after him asking him for the match. They walked out to the parking lot as a limousine arrived. The new LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner got out of the limousine and Bockwinkel looked at him and then looked at Dillon and said, “J.J., ask your new boss about that tag team match.” Dillon asked him what he meant and Turner said he was curious as to what Bockwinkel meant as well. Bockwinkel said it was simple: he didn’t think Turner could be trusted. Bockwinkel said he thought Turner was behind Verne Gagne’s removal from the Board of Directors and “it makes me sick that he would take advantage of a man’s diminished mental capacity to remove him from a position of honor on the Board of Directors.” Bockwinkel got into his car and drove away. Turner looked at Dillon and said, “Well, how do you like that?” Dillon said it was disappointing, but he was looking forward to working with Turner. Dillon said he had some business to discuss with Turner and the two men walked away.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage from last week’s LCW Showdown in which Mr. Fuji berated the Great Kabuki and Kendo Nagasaki for losing to LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys even though it was Fuji’s fault after he threw powder Kabuki’s face. After the match, LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain came out and attacked Kabuki and Nagasaki.

The Great Kabuki and Kendo Nagasaki defeated the LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain (with Mr. Fuji) in 6:49 by pinfall when Kabuki pinned the Barbarian in a non-title match after Mr. Fuji accidentally hit the Barbarian, who was holding Kabuki in position so Fuji could hit him, after Kabuki moved out of the way. After Fuji hit the Barbarian, Kabuki spit his green mist in Fuji’s eyes and then covered Barbarian for the pinfall and the win.

In the back, J.J. Dillon approached Tully Blanchard, his valet Baby Doll, and Barry Windham and told Blanchard and Windham that they had a tag team match tonight with Paul Orndorff and Steve Williams. Suddenly, the Nature Boy Buddy Landel approached them and told that Space Mountain had been shut down, but they didn’t have to worry because the real Nature Boy had arrived. Windham laughed and said Landel apparently didn’t get the point after the ass beating the Horsemen gave him several weeks ago. Windham suggested that maybe they needed to kick his ass again. Windham moved to attack Landel, but Blanchard stopped him and said maybe they could use him. Blanchard suggested that maybe their match with Orndorff and Williams could be a handicap match. Windham said that didn’t sound like a bad idea and said that Landel had one last chance. Blanchard told Dillon to go speak with LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner and Windham and Blanchard walked away with Landel.

LCW United States Champion Tito Santana defeated the Honky Tonk Man (with Jimmy Hart) in 8:10 by pinfall after the flying forearm smash. During the match, Rick Martel joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest commentary. After the match, Santana pointed at Martel in the broadcast booth and challenged him to get in the ring. Martel stood up and threw down the headset and acted like he was going to head to the ring, but when he made it halfway down the entrance ramp he turned around and walked away.

In the back, Nikita Koloff approached Paul Orndorff and Steve Williams and said he had heard about their handicap match with Barry Windham, Tully Blanchard, and Buddy Landel. Koloff said he had history with both Orndorff and Williams, but he was focused on the future and he wanted his future to be free of the Horsemen. Koloff said he spoke with LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner and if they’ll have him, he’d be their partner tonight to make it a six-man tag team match. Orndorff said they didn’t really need Koloff because with Landel as the Horsemen’s partner it isn’t much of a handicap match, but if Koloff wanted to get in on the fun he was welcome to join them. Koloff shook hands with Orndorff and Williams.

Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater (with Cowboy Bob Orton) defeated the Long Riders (with Maw Bass) in 12:17 by pinfall when Orton pinned Black Bart after the Superplex after Col Robert Parker hit Black Bart with Maw Bass’ purse in a number one contenders match for the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. During the match, Orton put Bart on the top rope and was going to hit him with the Superplex, but Maw Bass handed Parker her purse and told him to hit Orton. Parker got up on the ring apron and looked at Orton for a moment before he blasted Bart with the purse. Maw Bass screamed at Parker as he jumped off the ring apron and as Orton hit an unconscious Bart with the Superplex before the pinfall and the win. After the match, Maw Bass threw a fit in the ring, crying and stomping around as Bart and Bass tried to calm her down. Meanwhile, Parker walked away with a smile on his face with the new number one contenders for the LCW World Tag Team Championships. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone said, “Col. Robert Parker has just screwed Maw Bass out of a shot at the LCW World Tag Team Championships. She’s heartbroken! Maw Bass is in tears! She trusted Col. Robert Parker and he just screwed her over!”

In the back, LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain, with manager Mr. Fuji, were walking through the arena corridor when they happened upon Big Van Vader. The two men started brawling with Vader and the numbers proved to be too much for the Mastadon. The Powers of Pain beat down Vader until Nikita Koloff appeared with his chain and chased the Powers of Pain away before checking on Vader and helping him to his feet. Vader wanted to go after them, but Koloff calmed him down and told him they would get the Powers of Pain together.

In the back, One Man Gang confronted the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez and suggested that maybe Fernandez was getting soft after he beat Terry Funk last week and then helped him to his feet and hugged the soon to be inducted WWE Hall of Famer. Gang said, “Terry Funk said I was a bully and I kicked his ass. Then he said you were a bully, but maybe I’m the only real bully around here.” Fernandez said, “Why don’t we see just how soft I’ve gotten, daddy?” Fernandez then punched Gang and they brawled with each other until security officials appeared and separated the two men.

Nikita Koloff, Paul Orndorff and Dr. Death Steve Williams defeated Barry Windham (with J.J. Dillon), Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll), and Buddy Landel in 14:13 by pinfall when Orndorff pinned Blanchard after Diamond Dallas Page interfered and hit Blanchard with the Diamond Cutter. During the early moments of the match, Windham and Blanchard wouldn’t tag into the match to help Landel. At one point, Williams threw Landel into the corner and Landel’s hand slapped Windham’s hand on the turnbuckle and the referee considered that a tag and called Windham into the ring. During the match, J.J. Dillon tried to interfere, but LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out and chased him away from ringside. After Dillon got through the curtain, Muta came out and met Magnum TA on the entrance ramp and spit his red mist in Magnum’s eyes before leaving to the back. Medical officials came out to check on Magnum TA as Dillon returned to ringside. Moments later, LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Powers of Pain came out and attacked Nikita Koloff after he was thrown out of the ring by Windham. Big Van Vader came out and started brawling with the Powers of Pain and Koloff regained his senses and joined the brawl with the Powers of Pain. Meanwhile, in the ring, Diamond Dallas Page came out through the crowd and hit Blanchard with the Diamond Cutter before exiting through the crowd. After the match, Williams and Orndorff exited up the entrance ramp as security officials came out and tried to separate the Powers of Pain and Vader and Koloff who were still brawling at ringside. Meanwhile, in the ring, Blanchard and Windham blamed Landel for the loss and Landel tried to say it was Diamond Dallas Page that hit Blanchard with the Diamond Cutter, but they said Landel should have stopped Page. Windham hit Landel with the running clothesline and Blanchard then hit Landel with the slingshot suplex before leaving the ring.

In the back, LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner was seen getting into his limousine. Before he got into the limousine, he was on his cell phone and said, “So you’ll be here next week? Great, because I think you’ll be perfect as the new LCW General Manager. Thanks. I’ll see you next week.” Turner got in the limousine and it drove away as the show went off the air.
