LCW Showdown Television Results 02.04.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (February 4, 2009) live from the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, LA.

LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown and announced that, as announced last week on LCW Showdown, this week’s edition of LCW Showdown would featuring an eight-man tournament to determine the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship at the LCW Descent 2009 pay-per-view on Sunday, February 22nd. Bockwinkel introduced LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham who joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth. Bockwinkel wished the legends in the tournament good luck and then left the entrance stage.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko officially welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. They welcomed Graham into the broadcast booth and said that Graham would be with them for the duration of the tournament.

Don Muraco (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin (with Precious) in 8:18 by pinfall after the inverted piledriver in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament quarterfinal match. After the match, as Muraco left ringside with Humperdink, he stepped into the broadcast booth and shook hands with fellow New House of Humperdink member LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham. Graham congratulated Muraco and wished him luck during the rest of the tournament. After Muraco left the broadcast booth, Schiavone asked Graham how he’d feel about defending his title against Muraco and Graham told Schiavone and Zbyszko that he’d be proud and honored to defend his title against his friend.

Barry Windham (with J.J. Dillon) defeated Koko B. Ware in 4:38 by pinfall after the Superplex in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament quarterfinal match.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW United States Champion Tito Santana about his recent issues with Greg The Hammer Valentine and the Honky Tonk Man. As Santana was talking about the issues, Valentine and Jimmy Hart appeared, interrupting Santana and insulting him saying that a Mexican wasn’t worthy of being the United States Champion and needed to go back to Mexico and win Mexican titles and stop taking titles from Americans. Santana took offense and grabbed Jimmy Hart. Valentine attacked Santana and the two men brawled for a moment, but the brawling was stopped abruptly when the Honky Tonk Man appeared and blasted Santana with his guitar. Hart, Valentine and Honky Tonk started kicking at Santana until Rick Martel appeared with a steel chair and chased them away. Martel leaned down to check on Santana as the show went to commercial.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW United States Champion Tito Santana, who was still holding his head after the guitar shot from the Honky Tonk Man, and Rick Martel. Martel challenged Greg Valentine and Honky Tonk to a tag team match next week on LCW Showdown. Martel said the Strike Force were back together and better than ever.

Paul Orndorff (with J.J. Dillon) defeated Superfly Jimmy Snuka in 6:55 by pinfall after the piledriver in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament quarterfinal match. After the match, from the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone, Larry Zbyszko, and LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham talked about the possibility Barry Windham and Paul Orndorff facing each other in the finals of the tournament and Graham noted that Windham has to get past Don Muraco in the semifinals of the tournament and he didn’t see that happening.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Terry Funk and Big Van Vader. Funk said that they were attacked by the Powers of Pain last week and he couldn’t understand why they would want to start something with the Hardcore Icon and the Mastadon, but if that was the battle that Mr. Fuji wanted to lead the Powers of Pain into he welcomed it and suggested they might have to take the LCW United States Tag Team Championships from them. Vader said he didn’t give a damn about the LCW United States Tag Team Championships, but the Powers of Pain made a mistake last week when they attacked them last week. Vader said he was going teach the Powers of Pain the true definition of pain.

Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) defeated Billy Jack Haynes in 5:11 in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament quarterfinal match by pinfall after the double foot stomp. During the match, from the broadcast booth, LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham talked with Tony Schaivone and Larry Zbyszko about his past with Kevin Sullivan including their past in Florida and their issues last year in Legends Championship Wrestling including their falls count anywhere match in which Luna Vachon ran down Graham with a car, taking him out of action for several months. Graham said he’d love to get his hands on Sullivan one more time.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys about their upcoming locked box ladder match next week on LCW Showdown against the Destruction Crew. The Nasty Boys said they shouldn’t even have to face the Destruction Crew because they stole the titles from them, but they understood business and they knew it was good for business and if it was good for business to watch the Destruction Crew get beaten down again then they would do what was good for business. The Nasty Boys said they were going to climb the ladder, grab the key, and unlock the locked box at the top of the entrance stage and take back their titles.

Don Muraco (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated Barry Windham (with J.J. Dillon) in 11:05 by pinfall with a rollup after Windham missed an attempted clothesline in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament semifinal match. As Muraco passed by the broadcast booth, LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham gave Muraco the thumbs up and said, “Two down, one to go, brother.”

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the Disciples of Allah (The Iron Sheik, Ken Patera, Abdullah the Butcher, the Bolsheviks and managers General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie). The Iron Sheik said he was a peaceful man and only wanted to make peace, not war, but LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA had a problem with him and wanted to start a war with the Disciples of Allah. The Iron Sheik said if Magnum TA wanted to start a war, he would have a war saying that the Disciples of Allah would fight to the end to destroy Magnum TA. The Iron Sheik said he was the only man in the Disciples of Allah who was a former World Champion and he was going to lead the group to victory and take the LCW Universal Championship from Magnum TA personally. The Disciples of Allah all walked away except for Patera who stayed behind for a moment before walking away, joining the Disciples of Allah.

Kevin Sullivan and the End of WCW DVD

Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) defeated Paul Orndorff (with J.J. Dillon) in 0:09 in an LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament semifinal match when Sullivan pinned Orndorff. Before the match, Ric Flair came out and demanded that Orndorff give up his spot in the tournament to him, but Orndorff refused. Flair said no one refused him anything especially if they wanted to call them self a Horsemen. Orndorff said maybe he didn’t want to call himself a Horsemen. Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham had gotten into the ring and Flair said they could expedite Orndorff’s expulsion from the group. Blanchard and Windham then attacked Orndorff, Windham laying him out with a vicious clothesline and Blanchard hitting him with the slingshot suplex. Flair threw the referee into the ring and told him to make the three count. A confused Sullivan covered Orndorff as the referee made the reluctant pinfall count, giving Sullivan the win. After the match, the Horsemen continued attacking Orndorff. Flair locked the figure four leglock on Orndorff as Windham and Blanchard continued kicking at Orndorff. Diamond Dallas Page then came out and got in the ring. Blanchard jumped out of the ring with Baby Doll while Page focused in on Windham, hitting him with the Diamond Cutter. Flair released the figure four leglock and slipped out of the ring before Page could get his hands on him. Page checked on Orndorff and challenged the Horsemen to get back into the ring as the show went off the air.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Ric Flair about turning on Paul Orndorff and Flair said that was the ultimate test of loyalty and doing what was right for the greater good, doing what was right for the Horsemen and Orndorff failed the test. Flair said he didn’t care about the LCW Heritage Championship saying there was only one title he cares about and it would come to him in time. Orndorff burst into the scene trying to get at Flair, but Blanchard and Windham started attacking Orndorff as Flair exited with Baby Doll and J.J. Dillon. Page appeared and chased Windham and Blanchard away with a steel chair before checking on Orndorff and helping him to his feet.

Kevin Sullivan (with Luna Vachon) defeated Don Muraco (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) in 14:07 in the final match of the LCW Heritage Championship Contenders Tournament by pinfall after Luna Vachon hit Muraco with Humperdink’s cane after hitting Humperdink with a low blow to become the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship at the LCW Descent 2009 pay-per-view on Sunday, February 22nd, in the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. After the match, LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham ran down to ringside and chased Sullivan and Vachon out of the ring. As Humperdink crawled into the ring, Graham helped him and Muraco to their feet. Meanwhile, Sullivan and Graham exchanged words as Sullivan exited up the entrance ramp with Vachon as the show went off the air.
