LCW Showdown Television Results 01.28.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (January 28, 2009) live from the Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, KS.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena.

In the back, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham and said he was proud of how Graham had defended the title and carried himself as champion. Bockwinkel said he knew that Graham had a title defense against Valentine tonight, but he had an announcement to make regarding the LCW Heritage Championship. Bockwinkel announced that there wasn’t a clear number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship at the LCW Descent pay-per-view in the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, and there were so many worthy contenders so he was going to help narrow the field a bit. He announced that next week on LCW Showdown, the entire show would feature an 8-man tournament with the winner become the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship and getting their title shot at the LCW Descent pay-per-view. Graham said it sounded like a great idea to him and he welcomed any and all challengers. Bockiwnkel told Graham to focus on Valentine tonight and wished him luck as he shook his hand before walking away.

In the parking lot, a limousine arrived and the Four Horsemen: Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham and the newest member of the Horsemen, Paul Orndorff, got out with Baby Doll and J.J. Dillon. Sean Mooney approached them and requested an interview. Mooney asked Flair about his involvement in WWE WrestleMania 25 as a trainer to Mickey Rourke in his rumored match with Chris Jericho. Flair said he couldn’t comment on that because he was here to take care of business in Legends Championship Wrestling. Flair said there were a lot groups in Legends Championship Wrestling trying to be like the Horsemen, trying to be as powerful as the Horsemen, trying to dominate like the Horsemen have for over 20 years, but there was only one Horsemen, “Well, actually, there’s four of them again.” Flair laughed as Mooney asked Orndorff about turning on Paul Roma last week and Orndorff said Roma was a worthless piece of trash and the rest of the Horsemen weren’t going to waste anymore time on him. Flair said they weren’t wasting any time on anyone tonight because the Horsemen were going to do what they do best and that was party. Flair said Barry Windham and Orndorff would be taking part in the eight-man tournament next week on LCW Showdown to determine the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship at the LCW Descent pay-per-view in Tokyo, Japan, and because of that they were taking the night off. As Flair was saying they were going to take the night off, “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel appeared and seemed to think he was a part of the Horsemen. Flair asked Landel what he was doing and Landel said Dillon was his manager and since he was his manager that made him a part of the Horsemen. Flair laughed and told Dillon to take care of Landel. Dillon stepped forward and said their business arrangement had been dissolved because he had upgraded and didn’t have any time to deal with a loser like Landel. Landel seemed to take exception to being a called a loser and got in Dillon’s face, but the rest of the Horsemen moved closer to Dillon and Dillon laughed as Landel started to walk away. Before Landel walked away, he turned around and tried to take a shot at Orndorff, but Orndorff blocked the punch and took out Landel with a punch of his own. The Horsemen started attacking Landel, tearing his suit off of him. Flair said they were taking the night off after they took out the trash. Flair left with the rest of the Horsemen as they continued their gang attack on Landel to the entrance way. In the arena, Landel stumbled through the curtain and the Horsemen continued. Orndorff kicked Landel in the head and he rolled feet over head halfway down the entrance ramp before stopping midway. The Horsemen walked down the entrance ramp and Windham punted Landel in the mid-section sending him rolling on his side down the rest of the entrance ramp, stopping at the ring apron. Orndorff picked up Landel’s almost lifeless body and threw him into the ring. Orndorff hit Landel with a piledriver and covered him for a pinfall which Baby Doll mocked with a three count. Flair grabbed a microphone and got in Landel’s face and said, “And the next time you call yourself the Nature Boy, he’s (pointing to Paul Orndorff) going to break your neck with that piledriver.” Flair said Barry Windham and Paul Orndorff would be taking part in the eight-man Heritage Contenders Tournament to determine the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship next week on LCW Showdown.

The Iron Sheik (with Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie and General Skandor Akbar) defeated The Dynamite Kid in 6:21 by submission with the Camel Clutch after Al-Kassie interfered and broke his cane over the Dynamite Kid’s back. After the match, the Iron Sheik was joined by the rest of the Disciples of Allah in the ring as Sheik berated Dynamite Kid as the referee helped him out of the ring. On the LegendsTron, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA appeared and said, “The Disciples of Allah have been running roughshod over everyone in Legends Championship Wrestling for far too long and at the LCW Descent pay-per-view from the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, I’m going to end your reign of terror personally. But I’ll be honest and say that I know I can’t do it alone. The truth is, sometimes you just need backup. Sometimes you just need reinforcements. Sheik, you wanted to put a target on my back. Being the champion automatically puts a target on my back. You brought the challenge to me, but you made the biggest mistake you’ve ever made. You and your boys wanted to make this a war, Akbar. Well, you’ve got yourself a war and I’ve got myself an army…” The camera panned back from Magnum’s face to show the Yakuza Mafia: The Great Muta, Masahiro Chono, Kensuke Sasaki, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, and their manager Genichiro Tenryu, all wearing white suits, standing behind Magnum TA.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Terry Funk who said that when The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez, or the “Raging Bully” as Funk called him, took out his brother, Dory Funk, Jr., last week he must have thought that that would be the end of it and he’d have to get in the ring with Fernandez and Williams two-on-one. Funk said it wasn’t over and he had found a new tag team partner tonight. Mooney asked who Funk’s new partner would be and Funk said he would have to wait and see just like everyone else, but especially just like Fernandez and Williams.

LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel demanded that the titles be returned to him and announced that in two weeks, on LCW Showdown, the titles would once again be defended in a ladder match…a locked box ladder match!

In the back, Hollywood John Tatum and Missy Hyatt approached the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol and Tatum asked Idol if he’d like Hyatt’s managerial services and Idol said he would because he didn’t trust “that slimy, sneaky butterball” Sir Oliver Humperdink. Terry Funk came out and introduced his partner…Big Van Vader! Fernandez and Williams looked on in shock as Vader and Funk made their way down the entrance ramp and got into the ring to start the match.
