LCW Showdown Television Results 01.21.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (January 21, 2009) live from the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena.

The Yakuza Mafia’s limousine arrives and drives into the arena, parking next to the entrance stage. Keiji Muto, Masahiro Chono, Kensuke Sasaki, Hiroyoshi Tenzan, and their manager Genichiro Tenryu, got out of the limousine and made their way to the ring. Mr. Fuji came out with the Orient Express, Kendo Nagasaki, and the Great Kabuki and challenged the Yakuza Mafia to a match.

Keiji Muto, Masahiro Chono, Kensuke Sasaki, and Hiroyoshi Tenzan (with Genichiro Tenryu) defeated the Great Kabuki, Kendo Nagasaki, and the Orient Express in 6:43 by pinfall when Muto pinned Sato after the Shining Wizard. After the match, the Iron Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, Ken Patera, and the Bolsheviks came out and joined Fuji’s guys in attacking the Yakuza Mafia. Nikita Koloff and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out with steel chairs and cleared Fuji’s guys and the Disciples of Allah out of the ring. With Abdullah the Butcher as the last man from the Disciples of Allah in the ring, Magnum hit him with the belly-to-belly suplex before he rolled out of the ring and joined the rest of the Disciples as they retreated from ringside. As Fuji’s guys and the Disciples of Allah left up the entrance ramp together, Magnum, Koloff, and the Yakuza Mafia stood together in the ring and challenged them to come back into the ring.

In the back, Paul Roma and Paul Orndorff were preparing for their upcoming tag team match with Tully Blanchard and Barry Windham. Orndorff told Roma he meant what he said at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view, that if Roma ever cost him another victory again, he’d break his neck. Orndorff said the only reason he was teaming with Roma tonight was to get his hands on Barry Windham.

Paul Roma and Paul Orndorff defeated Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) and Barry Windham in 5:02 by disqualification after Paul Orndorff turned on Paul Roma and started attacking Roma. After the match, Orndorfff continued attacking Roma, hitting him with the piledriver before leaving with Blanchard, Windham, and Baby Doll. They walked up the entrance ramp and were joined on the entrance stage by Ric Flair who said the re-formation was complete. The Horsemen were four again. Flair said Orndorff wasn’t the Enforcer, but he was an enforcer and said he was proud to have Orndorff as a part of the new Four Horsemen.

In the back, Rick Martel approached the new LCW United States Champion Tito Santana and congratulated his Strike Force partner on his victory over Ken Patera at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view to win the LCW United States Championship. Martel said he was excited about getting back into tag team action. Santana said he couldn’t team with Martel tonight because he already had a rematch with Patera tonight. Martel said he understood and said he would be in Santana’s corner tonight to make sure the Disciple of Allah don’t interfere and he’d find another partner to face the team of Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum. Santana apologized again, but promised Martel that Strike Force would be reunited next week on LCW Showdown. Martel said he understood and left with Santana as the show went to commercial.

LCW United States Champion Tito Santana defeated Ken Patera (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) in 6:21 by pinfall after the flying forearm smash. After the match, as Martel and Santana celebrated, Patera tried to attack them, but they quickly outnumbered him. Greg The Hammer Valentine came out and helped Patera out of the ring, but not before letting his intentions be known: he was coming after Tito Santana and the LCW United States Championship.

In the back, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached the Destruction Crew who were polishing the LCW World Tag Team Championship title belts that they stole from the Nasty Boys last Sunday night at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view. Bockwinkel demanded that they surrender the titles to them, but they refused. Bockwinkel said if they didn’t surrender the titles, not only would they never receive another title shot ever again, but he’d have no choice but to release them from their contracts. The Destruction Crew relented and surrendered the titles to Bockwinkel, but wanted to know when they’d receive their next title shot. Bockwinkel said he’d have an announcement later in the evening.

Beefcake said he beat Tatum and he was done with Idol and Tatum and was moving on to bigger and better challenges.

LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham defeated the Honky Tonk Man (with Jimmy Hart) in 6:31 by pinfall after a powerslam. After the match, Jimmy Hart tried to hit Graham with the guitar, but Graham caught the guitar and blasted Hart with the guitar, knocking him out. As Graham was leaving ringside, he was attacked in the entrance way by Greg Valentine who was coming to the ring to check on Hart. The two men brawled in the entrance way as security officials came out and tried to seperate them. After the security officials managed to seperate them, Graham continued up the entrance way as Valentine got into the ring and helped Honky Tonk Man to his feet and check on Hart.

In the back, Hollywood John Tatum and Austin Idol were talking about their tag team match with Rick Martel and his unknown partner when Missy Hyatt approached them. Hyatt apologized to Tatum for costing him the LCW Television Championship at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view last Sunday night. Tatum said it would all be forgotten if she could get both he and Idol back on track with a win over Rick Martel and his partner tonight. Hyatt said that would be easy and said he couldn’t get anyone to work as well with him as Tito Santana and with Santana out of the way, they had nothing to worry about. Don Muraco walked up to them with Sir Oliver Humperdink and Muraco laughed and said, “Yeah, you guys have got something to worry about…me!” Muraco and Humperdink walked away as Idol and Tatum looked concerned.

In the back, The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez confronted LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel and demanded a rematch with Terry Funk, saying that Funk’s victory over him was a fluke and he wanted to set the record straight. Bockwinkel said he was going to get the chance to set the record straight because tonight he was going to face Terry Funk and Dory Funk, Jr., in a tag team match. Bockwinkel told Fernandez to find a tag team partner and walked away.

Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum (with Missy Hyatt) defeated Rick Martel and Don Muraco (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) in 4:31 by pinfall when Idol pinned Muraco after the Heartthrob Bomb piledriver.

In the back, LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Hart Foundation thanked the Dynamite Kid for their help last Sunday night at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view. Dynamite said he didn’t really do anything but take out General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie. Bret Hart said losing that distraction insured their victory over the Bolsheviks. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached them and announced that since the Dynamite Kid helped them retain the title at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view, he could do it again tonight on LCW Showdown. Bockwinkel announced that the Hart Foundation would team with the Dynamite Kid to take on the Bolsheviks and the Iron Sheik and he also announced that the LCW United States Tag Team Championships would be on the line. If the Bolsheviks scored the deciding pinfall on the Hart Foundation, they’d be the new champions. Jim Neidhart didn’t like the announcement, but Bockwinkel said it would be worth the risk because it would be the last time that the Bolsheviks would get a shot at the titles. Hart and Neidhart said that sounded good with them and agreed to the match.
