LCW Showdown Television Results 01.14.09
Tonight's episode of LCW Showdown is dedicated in loving memory to Lanny "Cousin Junior/Moondog Cujo" Kean (1961-2009).
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special edition of LCW Showdown, live from Belfast, Ireland as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko talked about the main event tag team match featuring the LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and his partner Nikita Koloff taking on the number one contender for the LCW Universal Champion Macho Man Randy Savage and his brother The Genius Lanny Poffo. Schiavone and Zbyszko also discussed the contract signing between Magnum TA and Savage for their main event match at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Schiavone said that it had taken two weeks, hours of discussions and meetings between Magnum TA, Savage, and their lawyers, but the details were finalized and the contract was ready to be signed.
In the ring, a table was setup for the official contract signing between LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and the number one contender for the LCW Universal Champion Macho Man Randy Savage. In the ring, Bill Mercer introduced LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel who came out and Magnum and Savage. Magnum came out alone, but Savage was joined by his brother The Genius Lanny Poffo. Magnum wasted no time signing the contract, but Savage said he was tired of hearing how Magnum was invincible and kept overcoming the odds and kept beating whoever was put in front of him. Savage said he knew how to stop Magnum: “All I really need is a dark, rainy night, a Porsche and a telephone pole.” Magnum took offense to the reference to his 1986 car accident and got in Savage’s face and said, “That car accident didn’t stop me and it’s not going to stop me from kicking your ass this Sunday in Manchester, England!” The audience exploded and Savage said he wanted to see if Magnum TA could really overcome the odds and he told Bockwinkel he wanted his match with Magnum at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday to be a no countout, no disqualification match. Bockwinkel asked Magnum if this was acceptable and Magnum told Bockwinkel to make it happen. Bockwinkel said he would, but said he knew what Savage was trying to do and he wasn’t going to let it happen. He said he knew that Savage wanted to make sure that The Genius Lanny Poffo could interfere in the match without any repercussions. He said he would agreed to Savage’s stipulation, but now Savage would have to agree with another stipulation. Bockwinkel said that tonight Savage would be teaming with Poffo to take on Magnum and Nikita Koloff in the main event. He said that if Savage and Poffo won he could have his no countout, no disqualification match, but if they lost Poffo would be banned from ringside. Poffo threw a fit, but Savage calmed him down and agreed to the stipulation before signing the contract. As he signed the contract, Poffo sneaked behind Magnum and attacked Magnum after Savage signed the contract. The two men double teamed Magnum until Nikita Koloff came out and cleared the ring, clotheslining Savage over the top rope and hitting Poffo with a spinebuster through the table. As Poffo rolled out of the ring, Koloff helped Magnum to his feet as Savage helped Poffo to his feet and they exited up the entrance ramp.

In the back, Tully Blanchard was talking with Ric Flair, Barry Windham, and Baby Doll when Butch Reed and Slick walked by and Blanchard said he needed to go talk with them. Blanchard and Baby Doll stopped Reed and Slick and Blanchard said he had heard that Butch Reed was the number one contender for the LCW International Championship and would get the first shot against the new LCW International Champion Big Van Vader at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Blanchard asked Slick for Reed’s shot at the LCW International Championship. Slick laughed and said Blanchard must be out of his mind. Slick said Reed was going to Ascension and was going to win the LCW International Championship from Vader. Blanchard said he wouldn’t if the Horsemen kicked his ass before Sunday night. Reed got in Blanchard’s face and Flair and Windham walked up behind Blanchard. Slick pulled Reed back as LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel appeared and said he might have a solution. Bockwinkel said that LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham needed an opponent at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Bockwinkel announced a tag team match with Reed teaming with Blanchard to take on Vader and Graham. If Blanchard or Reed could pin Vader or Graham, they would get a shot for the title of the respective champion they pinned and the man who doesn’t score the pinfall would get a title shot with the other champion. If either of the champions scored the deciding pinfall, he would be able to choose who he wants to defend his title against at LCW Ascension. Slick and Reed didn’t seem to like the decision, but Blanchard and Baby Doll seemed pleased as they walked away with Flair and Windham. Seconds later, Flair came back and got in Slick’s face and said, “Whooo,” before walking away.
Don Muraco (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) defeated the Honky Tonk Man (with Jimmy Hart) in 6:57 by pinfall after the reverse piledriver. After the match, Greg Valentine came out and attacked Don Muraco. The Rougeau Brothers came out and joined Valentine and Honky Tonk Man in attacking Muraco. Humperdink tried to attack Jimmy Hart, but the Honky Tonk Man blasted Humperdink with his guitar. Valentine, Honky Tonk, and the Rougeau Brothers continued attacking Muraco until the Wild Samoans came out and cleared the heels out of the ring.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW International Champion Big Van Vader and asked him about saving his former manager Harley Race last week from a double team attack from Paul Roma and Paul Orndorff. Vader said he still thought Race was a backstabbing piece of trash that he would never trust again, but he couldn’t deny all that Race had done for him and he still had respect for Harley Race and would always respect Harley Race, but he also couldn’t deny all that Race had done to him since they split and he could never be able to trust Race again. Mooney asked Vader about the tag team match with Graham tonight when they face Butch Reed and Tully Blanchard. Vader said he didn’t care who he faced at LCW Ascension and said he wasn’t losing the LCW International Championship again anytime soon.

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Hart Foundation defeated the Long Riders (with Maw Bass) in 4:31 by disqualification after the Bolsheviks, with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie, came out and attacked the Hart Foundation. The Hart Foundation made quick work of the Bolsehviks, fighting them off and then chasing them out of the ring, over the security barricade and through the crowd. Meanwhile, as the Hart Foundation chased the Bolsheviks away, Col. Robert Parker came out with a dozen roses and got in the ring and said he wanted to speak with Outlaw Ron Bass and Black Bart like men. Parker handed the roses to Maw Bass and then said that the Long Riders had to settle their issues with the Stud Stable because he was in love with Maw Bass and he thought she felt the same way. Maw Bass smiled at Parker as she smelled her roses. Parker asked Bass if there was any way that he would earn his respect because he was thinking about asking Maw Bass to marry him. Maw Bass looked shocked and said, “Marriage!?! Marriage!?! Ain’t nobody getting married around here.” Parker looked crushed as Maw Bass continued, “And as for my boys, the Long Riders, making peace with your boys the Stud Stable, well Col. Parker, there’s only one thing we can do about that.” Maw Bass then hit Parker with the roses and the Long Riders attacked Parker. Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater ran out and brawled with the Long Riders. The Long Riders managed to gain the upper hand and grabbed their bullropes and choked out Slater and Orton before leaving the ring with Maw Bass.
In the back, Paul Roma approached Paul Orndorff and seemed excited and happy about what happened last week on LCW Showdown when they reunited when Orndorff saved Roma from the Horsemen and then they attacked Harley Race later in the show. Orndorff said, “Roma, as far as I’m concerned, that reunion last week was a reunion of opportunity. We aren’t reuniting. We’re not going to be Pretty Wonderful anytime soon. I’ll always have your back, man, but tonight you’re going to go your way and do your thing and I’m going to go do my thing. And right now, my thing is kicking the ass of the Nature Boy Ric Flair.” Orndorff walked away, leaving a disappointed Roma behind.

In the back, a furious Col. Robert Parker, Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater confronted LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel and demanded a match with the Long Riders at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Bockwinkel said the match had already been requested by the Long Riders. Parker said, “Good!” Bockwinkel said, “And it’ll be a double bullrope match!” “Parker exploded asking, “What!?!” Bockwinkel told him again that it would be a double bullrope match and Parker tried to talk his way out of it, but Orton and Slater reassured him that it wouldn’t be any problem. Parker seemed unsure but said, “Well, if you boys are sure…” Orton and Slater reassured him they were sure they could handle it.
Ric Flair (with Baby Doll) defeated Paul Orndorff in 10:31 by pinfall after Barry Windham interfered and blasted Orndorff with a steel chair while Baby Doll distracted the referee. After the match, Flair left with Windham and Baby Doll as an angry Orndorff looked on.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Tito Santana about facing LCW United States Champion Ken Patera at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday and Santana said he was ready for Patera and said he’d take on all Disciples of Allah if it meant bringing the LCW United States Championship back to America. Mooney asked Santana about his Strike Force partner Rick Martel and Santana said Martel was at home still recovering from his neck injury, but would be watching from home and was supportive and behind him all the way. From out of nowhere, Ken Patera appeared with managers General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie and blasted Santana with the title belt, knocking him out cold. Patera said, to an unconscious Santana, “I hope Martel saw that at home.” Patera, Akbar, and Al-Kassie all walked away laughing as Mooney leaned in to check on Santana.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Terry Funk who said he took care of one bully several months ago when he beat One Man Gang, putting the brakes on his shortlived undefeated streak. Funk reminded Mooney that he said he didn't like bullies then and he still doesn't like bullies now. Funk said Manny Fernandez should be renamed the Raging Bully instead of the Raging Bull. Funk said he was going to put the brakes on Fernandez just like he did Gang.
Butch Reed (with Slick) and Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) defeated LCW International Champion Big Van Vader and LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham (with Sir Oliver Humperdink) in 12:30 by pinfall when Blanchard pinned Vader after Paul Orndorff came out with a steel chair and blasted Vader with the chair, knocking him out. After the match, Barry Windham came out and brawled with Orndorff and the two men brawled to the back. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and announced that as a result of the victory Tully Blanchard would get to choose which champion he would face at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view. Blanchard chose Vader and Bockwinkel announced officially that LCW International Champion Big Van Vader would defend his title this Sunday against Tully Blanchard and LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham would defend his title against Butch Reed.
In the back, Missy Hyatt and Hollywood John Tatum were walking through the arena corridor on their way to ringside with Austin Idol. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel approached them and said Hyatt and Tatum would have to stay backstage because they were banned from ringside. Bockwinkel said he didn’t know why Tatum would want to interfere anyway because if Idol won that would mean that Tatum would have to face his friend for the LCW Television Champion. Tatum said they would cross that bridge when they get there and Idol said they would and then walked away as the show went to commercial.

In the back, medical officials checked on Sir Oliver Humperdink who was hit with the Honky Tonk Man’s guitar earlier in the show. Humperdink tried to assure them that they were all right, but Don Muraco said he wanted to go and kick the Honky Tonk Man’s ass, but Humperdink told him that he needed to focus on beating Greg Valentine at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez who said, "Terry Funk wants to go around renaming things, he wants to go around renaming people. Well, Terry Funk, how about I rename something? How about my triangle choke? How about we rename the triangle choke the Bull's Brand? How's that sound Mooney? It might sound like some kind of barbeque sauce or something, daddy, but I'm not good ol' JR. You want to know why I'm calling it the Bull's Brand, Mooney? Because at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday, I'm going to slap the Bull's Brand on that old mother Funker and when I do, daddy, I'm going to make him tap and if he doesn't tap I'm going to knock his ass out, but either way Terry Funk is going to be marked with my brand, the Bull's Brand, and that mark is going to let everyone know that now only did I kick your ass, Terry Funk, but I made you my bitch!"
LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys defeated the Rougeau Brothers (with Jimmy Hart) in 5:16 by pinfall when Brian Knobbs pinned Raymond Rougeau after a powerslam. Before the match, the Destruction Crew came out and joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest commentary. After the match, the Nasty Boys chased them out of the broadcast booth. Meanwhile, the Wild Samoans came out and chased the Rougeau Brothers from the ring, over the security barricade and through the crowd.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff about their main event tag team match with Macho Man Randy Savage and The Genius Lanny Poffo. Magnum said the stakes had never been higher, but from day one the odds had been stacked against them and every time they are he prevails and this time would be no exception. Koloff said that Savage’s first mistake was asking for a no countout, no disqualification match because if Poffo tries to interfere in Magnum and Savage’s match at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday, he’d find out why they call him the Russian Nightmare.

Macho Man Randy Savage and The Genius Lanny Poffo defeated LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff in 16:21 by pinfall when Savage pinned Magnum while holding onto his trunks for added leverage. As a result of pre-match stipulations, Poffo can now be at ringside during Savage’s no countout, no disqualification match with Magnum at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. After the match, Savage slipped out of the ring. As Magnum went to chase after him, Poffo tried to attack Magnum, but Koloff hit him with a spear and started putting the boots to him as Magnum stalked Savage up the entrance ramp and to the back. As Koloff dominated Poffo in the ring, Magnum continued stalking Savage in the back. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, someone blindsided Magnum, hitting him with a solid hit that took him off his feet. When the camera zoomed out, Sheamus O’Shaunessy was seen standing over the fallen Magnum TA. As O’Shaunessy stood over the fallen champion, from the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone said, “Where the hell did Sheamus O’Shaunessy come from? Savage’s old bodyguard, the Irish Curse is back and has he ever made an impact! But what’s he doing here?” Larry Zbyszko said, “It’s pretty clear to me why he’s here, Tony. He’s here to help Savage win the LCW Universal Championship.” Schiavone said, “Is that true? If that’s the case, the deck has been stacked, the odds are once again against the champion. Can Magnum TA overcome the odds, again? We saw it earlier in the evening when Magnum TA and the Macho Man Randy Savage signed the contract for the main event this Sunday at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view in Manchester, England, Savage can have whomever he wants with him at ringside and it’s a no countout, no disqualification match. Can he overcome the insanity of Macho Man Randy Savage, the cunning and the guile of the Genius Lanny Poffo, and now the brute strength and power of the Irish Curse Sheamus O’Shaunessy?”
