LCW Showdown Television Results 12.31.08
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special year-end edition of LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed some highlights from the LCW Endgame pay-per-view last Sunday including the fact that Demolition and the Rock lost their respective Ultimate Endgame matches and that LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA retained his title.
Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard came out with Baby Doll and celebrated Flair’s victory over the Rock in the Ultimate Endgame match. Flair said he sent the Rock back to Hollywood. “I guess you could say, I laid the smackdown on that jabroni’s candy ass,” Flair added, laughing with Blanchard and Baby Doll. Flair continued, “But seriously, I have to be honest and say that I couldn’t have done it without someone else’s help. Well, I could have done it without his help, but he just made it a little easier for me.” Flair called out Paul Roma to the ring and thanked him for his help. Flair said he would be proud to welcome Roma back to the Horsemen. Flair and Blanchard raised Roma’s arms in victory. Baby Doll walked behind them, dropped to her knees, and hit Roma with a low blow before Flair and Blanchard starting putting the boots to Roma. Flair said Roma would never be a Horsemen and the next time he interfered in his business, it would be his last time interfering in anything. Suddenly, Macho Man Randy Savage ran out and cleared Flair and Savage out of the ring. While it seemed for a moment he might be there to save Roma, he climbed to the top rope and hit Roma with the flying elbow smash. Savage grabbed the microphone Flair dropped upon his exit from the ring and said he didn’t care about who is or isn’t a Horsemen, but he does care who is the LCW Universal Champion and until it’s him again he’s going to make everyone’s life a living hell. Savage demanded a title shot tonight and said he was leaving the ring until he got the title shot from LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel personally. Bockwinkel came out and said Savage couldn’t have a title shot tonight because, after Magnum TA’s performance at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view, he was giving the champion the night off. Bockwinkel said, however, that Savage could earn the right to be named the number one contender by competing in a 20-man battle royal. Savage said that wasn’t good enough and Bockwinkel said it would have to do. Savage said he said he was leaving until he got a title shot and Bockwinkel said since Savage wouldn’t leave the ring maybe he needed to send someone into the ring to make him leave. Nikita Koloff came out and brawled with Savage until Savage slipped out of the ring an through the crowd. As Koloff called Savage to come back into the ring, Dr. Death Steve Williams, with manager Cowboy Bill Watts, and The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez came out and attacked Koloff from behind, double teaming him until LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out and joined Koloff in fighting them out and clotheslining them out of the ring. As Williams, Watts, and Fernandez retreated, Koloff thanked Magnum for helping him and the two friends challenged Williams and Fernandez to come back into the ring, but they continued walking up the entrance ramp to the back as the show went to commercial.
