LCW Showdown Television Results 12.24.08
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special Christmas Eve edition of LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed what happened last week on LCW Showdown when LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA teamed with Nikita Koloff to take on Dr. Death Steve Williams and The Raging Bull, the two men considered the top contenders for the LCW Universal Championship, in the main event. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel announced that if Williams or Fernandez won the match, the man scoring the deciding fall would be named the number one contender. However, Magnum and Koloff won the match and Bockwinkel, impressed with Koloff’s performance announced after the match that this week on LCW Showdown, Nikita Koloff, The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez and Dr. Death Steve Williams would face each other in a triple threat match to determine the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Schiavone reminded everyone that the winner of the match would face LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA in the main event at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The Nasty Boys defeated Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater (with Col. Robert Parker) in 4:17 by pinfall when Brian Knobbs pinned Slater after a running powerslam. Before the match, Maw Bass came out and approached Col. Robert Parker at ringside and, only moments into the match, Parker left ringside with Maw Bass as Orton and Slater yelled at him to come back to ringside. Parker continued walking away with Parker and the distraction allowed the Nasty Boys to take advantage and gain control of the match. After Parker and Maw Bass left ringside, the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express came out with their manager Dennis Condrey and watched the match from the entrance stage. After the match, the Midnight Express attacked the Nasty Boys, but Knobbs and Sags quickly managed to gain control and sent the Midnight Express out of the ring and hit Condrey with the Pit Stop. Eaton and Lane returned to the ring and got Condrey out of the ring, but they left behind their titles. Knobbs and Sags picked up the titles, looked at them for a moment, before putting them back down on the mat and leaving through the crowd.

In the back, an angry Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater made their way through the arena corridor looking for Col. Robert Parker. They found Parker talking with Maw Bass and they yelled at Parker for leaving them at ringside during their match with the for leaving them to be with Maw Bass. Maw Bass tried to calm them down, but Slater said, “Shut up, you old, hag!” Parker told Slater to show the lady some respect, but Orton said he was tired to women shifting Parker’s focus from where it should be, on he and Slater. Orton said maybe he was the reason why they had never won the LCW World Tag Team Championship. He said, “If it isn’t Lady Amazon, it’s Maw Bass, or some other dame.” Parker suggested that Orton and Slater’s not winning the LCW World Tag Team Championships didn’t have anything to do with him or the women in his life, but maybe had something to do with their inability to measure up and get the job done. Orton said he was going to pretend Parker didn’t say that and told Parker that he needed to refocus on what was important and “ditch the bitch” referring to Maw Bass. Bass said, “Who you calling a bitch,” and slapped Orton across the face. Orton went to slap Maw Bass, but Parker grabbed his arm and the Long Riders, Outlaw Ron Bass and Black Bart appeared and started brawling with Orton and Slater.
Don Muraco, Greg Valentine (with Sir Oliver Humperdink), and Terry Funk defeated LCW United States Champion Ken Patera, The Iron Sheik, and Abdullah the Butcher (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) in 6:11 by pinfall when Muraco pinned Patera after the reverse piledriver. During the match, Valentine hit Patera with an elbow smash and went to put Patera in the figure four leglock, but the Iron Sheik knocked Valentine out of the ring. Muraco picked up Patera and hit him with the reserve piledriver for the pinfall and the win. After the match, Valentine took exception to Muraco taking advantage of his elbow smash and Muraco said he was just trying to win the match for the team. Valentine didn’t want to hear it and he walked out of the ring without Muraco or Humperdink. Early in the match, Terry Funk and Abdullah the Butcher started brawling with each other and ended up brawling through the crowd and away from ringside.
In the parking lot, a black limousine appeared and The Rock got out of the limousine with his father, Rocky Johnson. Sean Mooney approached them and asked Rock about his Ultimate Endgame match with Ric Flair at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday in Canada in which the loser would have to leave Legends Championship Wrestling. Rock said he couldn’t speak for Ric Flair, but he wasn’t going anywhere. Rock walked away with his father and passed by Terry Funk and Abdullah the Butcher who were still brawling as the show went to commercial.

The Hart Foundation defeated the Long Riders (with Maw Bass) in 7:31 by pinfall when Bret Hart pinned Black Bart after the Hart Attack to become the number one contenders for the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. Before the match, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and announced that the match would determine the number one contenders for the LCW United States Tag Team Championships and the winners would get their title shot at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday. During the match, Col. Robert Parker came out and tried to get the attention of Maw Bass, but she was focused on the match. Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater came out and tried to get Parker to come back to the back with them. Outlaw Ron Bass became distracted by Orton and Slater at ringside and took offense to Parker trying to get his mother’s attention. Bass grabbed Parker and was going to hit him, but Orton and Slater attacked Bass, knocking him out with a savage clothesline. Meanwhile, in the ring, the Hart Foundation took advantage of the distraction outside the ring and hit Black Bart with the Hart Attack for the pinfall and the win. After the match, Orton, Slater, and Parker left ringside as Maw Bass threw a fit as she tried to help Ron Bass to his feet and back into the ring where she also helped Black Bart back to his feet.
In the back, Ric Flair was talking with Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll about Paul Roma. Flair and Blanchard were upset that Roma had defeated Sam Houston two weeks and, because of Paul Orndorff and Harley Race’s interference, he had also defeated the LCW International Champion Big Van Vader by countout last week. Blanchard warned Flair that if they couldn’t find someone to beat Roma they would have to let him in the Four Horsemen. Flair said he knew what was at stake and there was no way that he was going to let “that wannabe” be a Horsemen ever again.

LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham and Kevin Von Erich defeated Stan Hansen and Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) in 6:09 by pinfall when Graham pinned Blanchard after Paul Roma interfered and accidentally dropkicked Blanchard when Von Erich, who Blanchard was holding in place, moved out of the way. Before the match, Stan Hansen came out without the LCW Heritage Championship that he stole from champion Graham and gave it to the timekeeper. After the match, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and retrieved the LCW Heritage Championship from the timekeeper and left ringside with the title.
In the back, Ric Flair confronted Paul Orndorff and Harley Race and asked them if they realized what they did last week. Race said they were taking care of business and Flair said they were getting involved in his business and he had only one more week, one more chance to find someone to beat Paul Roma and prove he isn’t worthy of calling himself a Horsemen. Flair asked them what they were going to do about it and Race took exception to the suggestion that they should have anything to do with Flair’s problem, but Orndorff told Race that he’d take care of Flair’s “light work.”

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel who had the LCW Heritage Championship in his hands and announced that at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday the title would be suspended above the ring and Graham and Hansen would battle for the title in a ladder match, a no nonsense, no locker box, traditional ladder match.
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone announced that, Canada’s own, Nickelback would perform their song, Burn It To The Ground, the official theme of the LCW Endgame 2008 pay-per-view, live at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday.
Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Baby Doll came out and Flair talked about facing the Rock at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday and sending him back to Hollywood after their Ultimate Endgame match in which the loser would have to leave Legends Championship Wrestling. Flair then called out Paul Roma and sent him into the ring. Blanchard seemed to want to attack Roma for interfering in the tag team match earlier in the evening, but Flair held him back. When Roma got to the ring, Flair reminded him that if he ever wanted to call himself a Horsemen again, he’d have to win three matches in a row. Flair said he wasn't impressed two weeks ago with Roma's win over Sam Houston and he certainly wasn’t impressed last week because he would have never beaten Big Van Vader without help from Paul Orndorff and Harley Race. Flair said Roma would have to beat his personal pick this week. Flair introduced Paul Orndorff and Orndorff’s music played, but he didn’t come out. Flair introduced Orndorff again and the music restarted, but still Orndorff didn’t come out. Flair got angry and demanded to know what was going on. On the LegendsTron, Orndorff was shown on the floor writhing in pain and when the camera zoomed out, The Rock was shown standing over Orndorff. Rock walked away and made his way through the arena corridor. The cameraman followed Rock through the crowd, grabbed a steel chair and a microphone, and got into the ring. Rock placed the steel chair in the corner and, as Flair, Blanchard, and Baby Doll watched on from the entrance stage, said to Roma, “Who, in the powder blue hell are you?” Rock handed the microphone to Roma, but as Roma went to speak took it back and said, “Come on, man, where have you been? Haven’t you seen me do this? It doesn’t matter who you are?” The audience exploded and Roma laughed it off and Rock said, “No, but seriously though, man, who the hell are you?” The audience laughed again and Rock said, “No, wait, wait, I know who you are. You were that guy in the Young Stallions tag team in the WWF in the late ‘80s, right, the team that was every other team’s bitches in the WWF, right? No, no, I know where I know you from. You were that guy that was Hercules’ bitch in the Power and Glory tag team in the WWF in the early ‘90s, right?” Roma started getting upset, but Rock continued, “No, I know how I know you. You were Paul Orndorff’s bitch in the Pretty Wonderful tag team in WCW in the late ‘90s, right?” Roma said he wasn’t anybody’s bitch, but he was willing to make the Rock his bitch tonight and prove himself to be worthy of being a Horsemen. Rock laughed and Flair said it sounded good to him. Rock sarcastically said, “Well, since it sounds good to you Ric, please allow me to help you out by kicking this jabroni’s ass tonight. There’s nothing more I’d like to do than help you.” Flair wasn’t amused by Rock’s sarcasm and Rock continued, “Seriously though, Paul Roma, you know I’m just messing with you, man. Of course I know who you are and I’m all about making that man’s (pointing to Ric Flair on the entrance stage) life as miserable as possible and it seems to me that you being in the Four Horsemen would just about do it. So, as I see it, we can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way? Now, I like the easy way because the easy way is easy for both of us. It involves me laying down here in the center of the ring and letting you pin me for the one, two, three. So, let’s get a referee in the ring and get this thing started.” A referee came out and got in the ring. From the entrance ramp, Flair said he never agreed to this and said he wasn’t going to allow the Rock to do this to him. Rock said, “You know what, Ric, you’re right? This just doesn’t seem right to me. Roma, you wouldn’t learn anything. You wouldn’t have earned anything. You wouldn’t have proven yourself worthy. I do agree with Ric Flair on one thing: you should prove yourself worthy. Hell, before tonight I didn’t even know you were a former member of the Four Horsemen. So, Ric, if you agree to this match, if you agree to make me your official pick, I will kick this jabroni’s ass and make sure he’s never a member of the Four Horsemen.” Flair seemed suspicious, but asked the Rock if he was sincere and serious and Rock said he was serious. Flair said he agree and called for the referee to ring the bell. With the match officially underway, Rock said, “Oh, wait, I forgot, we weren’t going to do this the easy way, but Roma, I never told you what the hard way was. Now, I said I wanted to make Ric Flair’s life miserable and making you a part of the Four Horsemen was a way to do that, but I said I wasn’t going to lay down for you, but I really don’t feel like wrestling tonight, but I do genuinely think you need to prove yourself worthy of calling yourself a Horsemen. That brings me to the hard way.” Rock went to the corner of the ring and grabbed the steel chair and the referee went to stop him and Rock said, “Oh wait, that’s right, huh? Since this is now an officially sanctioned match, if I use this steel chair on Paul Roma, he wins the match by disqualification and would be a part of the Horsemen, huh?” Roma didn’t seem to want to be hit with the steel chair, but Rock said, “How bad do you want it, Roma?” Roma looked at the audience and then looked up the entrance ramp at Flair, Blanchard, and Baby Doll and told the Rock to bring it on. Rock reared back with the steel chair, but Flair and Blanchard ran down to ringside and tried to interfere, but Rock blasted Flair with the steel chair and swung for Blanchard as well, but Blanchard slipped out of the ring and pulled Flair out of the ring. Meanwhile, Roma rolled up Rock for a pinfall attempt, but Rock kicked out, grabbed the steel chair and blasted Roma with the chair. The referee called for the bell and ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta announced that Paul Roma was the winner as a result of a disqualification. Rock left ringside as Baby Doll, Blanchard, and Flair, still somewhat dazed from chair shot, threw a fit in the ring. Blanchard grabbed the microphone and said what just happened was bullsh*t and that Roma hadn’t proved anything. Blanchard got in Roma’s face and said, “There’s only one way that you’re going to be a Horsemen again and that’s by going through me.” Blanchard picked up Roma and hit him with the slingshot suplex. Blanchard said, “You know, Roma, Rock was right about one thing: you are a bitch and at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view this Sunday, I’m going to prove it once and for all when I kick your ass.” Blanchard left with Flair and Baby Doll.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the Destruction Crew who talked about their Ultimate Endgame match at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view in which the loser would have to leave Legends Championship Wrestling. Wayne Bloom said they weren’t going anywhere and wished Demolition luck in trying to find work in this economy. Enos joked that maybe the Rock could help them find work in Hollywood. Bloom said they weren’t going anywhere and they were going to prove once and for all that they were not only better than Demolition, but they deserved to be in Legends Championship Wrestling and deserved to be the number one contenders for the LCW World Tag Team Championships. Bloom said they had wasted enough time with Demolition and were going to use them as stepping stones to the LCW World Tag Team Championships.
Austin Idol and Hollywood John Tatum (with Missy Hyatt) defeated LCW Television Champion Brutus Beefcake and Wildfire Tommy Rich in 5:29 by pinfall when Idol pinned Beefcake after the Heartthrob Bomb piledriver. After the match, Tatum attacked Rich with a neckbreaker as he was checking on Beefcake. As Idol and Tatum left ringside, Idol signaled to Beefcake that the title would be his at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view and Tatum signaled that he was going to take Rich out at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view as Beefcake helped Rich to his feet.
In the back, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel announced that Ron Garvin would face The Genius Lanny Poffo in a taped fist match. Poffo appeared and said he was confident that he would finish the job he started when he and his brother Macho Man Randy Savage broke Garvin’s hand several months ago. Meanwhile, Garvin appeared behind Poffo and silently told Bockwinkel not to let Poffo know of his presence as he taped his fist. When Poffo turned around, Garvin leveled Poffo with a hard right hand punch. Garvin walked away as Bockwinkel stood over Poffo before calling for a medic and then walking away.

Nikita Koloff defeated Dr. Death Steve Williams and The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez in 15:49 in a triple threat match by pinfall when Koloff pinned Williams with a bridging German suplex. Before the match, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out and joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest commentary. During the pinfall, Koloff actually collapsed at the start of the count and his shoulders hit the mat and there seemed to be some question if he had actually won the match. But when ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta announced Koloff as the winner, the decision seemed officially. After the match, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came into the ring and congratulated his friend, Koloff and Koloff was announced the winner. Sean Mooney got into the ring to interview Koloff about his upcoming match with his friend, Magnum at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view. Koloff said the last time they met, Magnum took the title from him and he was ready to take it back. He said last time he was a different person, but this time he was looking forward to proving which man was the better of the two without sacrificing their friendship. Meanwhile, the referee was speaking with the ring announcer and Cowboy Bill Watts and several other officials at ringside about the finish. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out as Koloff and Magnum kept talking about facing each other. Koloff realized what was going on and went to join the discussion. In a conversation that couldn’t be overheard, Bockwinkel seemed to make a decision that pleased Watts, Williams, and Fernandez, but seemed to anger Koloff. From ringside, ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta announced Bockwinkel’s official decision. Capetta announced that Koloff’s shoulders were also down during the pinfall and therefore he wasn’t the number one contender. Bockwinkel whispered in Capetta’s ear and Capetta corrected himself announcing that Koloff wasn’t the only number one contender. Capetta announced that at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA would defend his title against Nikita Koloff, Dr. Death Steve Williams, and The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez in a fatal fourway match! Williams and Fernandez seemed satisfied with the decision, Koloff was pissed, and Magnum seemed confident as Williams, Watts and Fernandez left ringside. Koloff and Magnum left ringside together, but from the broadcast booth Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko questioned if perhaps Koloff would be walking away with the LCW Universal Championship this Sunday at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view or would it be Fernandez or Williams or would Magnum TA once again overcome the odds to retain his title. Schiavone wished everyone a Merry Christmas as the show went off the air.
