LCW Showdown Television Results 12.17.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (December 17, 2008) live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA came out and talked about being the special guest referee last week for a match between The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez and Dr. Death Steve Williams to determine the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Magnum talked about being attacked by both men during the match and saved by his friend Nikita Koloff. Williams came out with his manager Cowboy Bill Watts and Watts said The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez had his chance and failed to win the title. Watts said Williams, unlike Fernandez, actually won his match at LCW Redemption Day when he beat Nikita Koloff last month and he wanted another shot at the title. Fernandez came out and said if he hadn’t agreed with Williams and Watts to attack Magnum last week on LCW Showdown, he would have beaten Williams and there would already be a new number one contender. Magnum challenged them both to come into the ring and they could settle the issue immediately. Williams and Fernandez headed into the ring and Magnum managed to maintain the advantage for a moment, but the numbers proved to be too much and Williams hit Magnum with a spear and joined Fernandez in attacking Magnum. Nikita Koloff came out with his chain and cleared Fernandez and Williams out of the ring and helped Magnum to his feet. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and announced that tonight’s main event would answer the question of who the number one contender was when LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA teams with Nikita Koloff to face Williams and Fernandez and if Fernandez or Williams scored the pinfall they would be the number one contender and earn a shot at the LCW Universal Championship at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view on Sunday, December 28th.

LCW Heritage Champion Superstar Billy Graham defeated The Genius Lanny Poffo in 6:53 by disqualification after Stan Hansen interfered and attacked Graham, hitting him with the Lariat clothesline before going outside the ring and stealing the title belt from the time keeper and leaving ringside with the title. After the match, The Genius Lanny Poffo was leaving up the entrance ramp and when he reached the entrance stage, he turned around to face the crowd and Ron Garvin appeared from the back and started wrapping his fist in tape. When Poffo turned around, Garvin hit him with the taped fist, knocking him out cold on the entrance stage. In the back, the Destruction Crew were shown making their way through the arena corridor surrounded by members of a SWAT team. Sean Mooney approached them and asked them about the SWAT team and Wayne Bloom said they are the best tag team in Legends Championship Wrestling and that also means they are the smartest. Bloom said they knew they had placed a target on their back by doing some of the things they’ve done to Demolition over the past few months, but they had the SWAT team for protection tonight. When they get into the ring with Demolition at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view they wouldn’t need protection, but until then the SWAT team would be there to protect them from Demolition interfering in their business, the business of winning.

The Destruction Crew defeated the Killer Bees in 4:36 by pinfall when Wayne Bloom pinned Brian Blair after the Wrecking Ball. After the match, Demolition’s entrance music played and the members of the SWAT team quickly got into the ring and surrounded the Destruction Crew. Two members of the SWAT team took off their helmets and revealed themselves to be Demolition Ax and Smash. The rest of the SWAT team left the ring and the Destruction Crew seemed confused as until they turned around and saw Demolition. Ax and Smash attacked the Destruction Crew with their batons, knocking them out of the ring. The Destruction Crew quickly exited up the entrance ramp. Meanwhile in the ring, Demolition Ax had some kind of remote control device and pressed a button on the remote and just as the Destruction Crew made their way to the top of the entrance ramp, a giant wrecking ball fell from the ceiling, putting a dent in the entrance stage, just missing the Destruction Crew. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and said he couldn’t allow this kind of thing happen. Bockwinkel chastised Demolition for damaging a multi-million dollar set and endangering the lives of their fellow LCW legends. He said he understood they were trying to make a point, but they just couldn’t do that kind of thing. The Destruction Crew agreed with Bockwinkel, but he quickly turned his attention to them saying it was also their fault for antagonizing Demolition and for trying to end Demolition Ax’s career by crushing that cinder block on his head with a sledgehammer last month. Bockwinkel said it seemed pretty clear to him that they would never be able to settle this thing between them, but it would be settled at LCW Endgame pay-per-view on Sunday, December 28th, when Demolition faces the Destruction Crew in an Ultimate Endgame match with the losing team having to leave Legends Championship Wrestling.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff defeated The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez and Dr. Death Steve Williams (with Cowboy Bill Watts) when Koloff pinned Williams after the Russian Sickle clothesline. During the match, Williams attempted to pin Magnum after a spear, but Fernandez broke up the count by pulling Williams out of the ring. The two men argued as Watts tried to calm them and get them back into the ring. Watts managed to calm the two men and Williams got back into the ring. Fernandez then blasted Watts with a clothesline and then got into the ring and hit Williams with the Flying Burrito. Magnum grabbed Fernandez and hit him with the belly-to-belly suplex. Williams slowly got back to his feet and Koloff his him with the Russian Sickle clothesline for the pinfall and the win. After the match, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and said he announced earlier that if Williams or Fernandez scored the pinfall on either Magnum or Koloff they would become the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship, but he never announced what would happen if Koloff scored the pinfall. Bockwinkel said he was torn because as much as he wanted to announce Koloff was the new number one contender he just couldn’t because he couldn’t forget that Williams beat him at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view last month. Bockwinkel said he was impressed by Koloff tonight and wanted to give him a chance to prove himself worthy of being the number one contender. Bockwinkel announced that next week’s main event would feature a triple threat match between Dr. Death Steve Williams, The Raging Bull, and Nikita Koloff with the winner being named the number one contender and facing LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view on Sunday, December 28th. Koloff and Magnum shook hands as Fernandez and Williams got back into the ring and tried to attack them from behind, but Koloff and Magnum made quick work of them, clotheslining them over the top rope and out of the ring. Meanwhile, Magnum had dropped the title and when Koloff and Magnum met in the middle of the ring, they stood face to face with the title between them. Koloff picked up the title and looked at it for a moment before handing it to Magnum and walking out of the ring as the show went off the air.
