LCW Showdown Television Results 12.03.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (December 3, 2008) live from the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, GA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone announced that last Sunday night on the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view (click here for the complete results), LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway was absolved of any wrongdoing and that that there was insufficent evidence to formally charge him with any crime. Schiavone then announced that Calaway had left the country and his whereabouts were unknown. Schiavone said he didn’t know what else to do, but move forward and he and Zbyszko reviewed the events of last Sunday night’s LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view including Magnum TA retaining the LCW Universal Championship in his main event match with Manny Fernandez.

General Skandor Akbar, Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie, Ken Patera, The Iron Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, and LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks came out and got into the ring. Akbar said something was missing and it was one man’s fault. Akbar said it was Don Muraco’s fault that Ken Patera lost the LCW United States Championship to Superfly Jimmy Snuka. Muraco came out with his manager Sir Oliver Humperdink and said Snuka didn’t need his help to win the title, he only needed his help to make sure that Akbar and Al-Kassie didn’t interfere. Akbar said it didn’t matter what Muraco had to say because Patera was going to use the rematch clause in his contract and would take back his title from Snuka tonight. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel then came out and announced that while Ken Patera would get his rematch with Snuka tonight for the LCW United States Championship, but he was going to do what Don Muraco was trying to do at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view: stop Adnan and Al-Kassie from interfering. Bockwinkel announced that tonight Patera would face Snuka in a steel cage match for the LCW United States Championship! As Akbar, Al-Kassie, and Patera threw a fit in the ring, Bockwinkel, Muraco, and Humperdink walked away to the back.

In the back, Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Baby Doll arrived and were making their way when they passed by Paul Roma who extended his hand to shake Flair’s hand. Flair acted as if he didn’t know who Roma was and asked Roma who he was and Roma said he was Paul Roma. Flair didn’t seem to know who Roma was and Roma said, “I was a Horsemen.” Flair and Blanchard laughed and Roma asked why they were laughing and Flair said, “Because you weren’t a Horsemen, you were a joke.” Flair, Blanchard, and Baby Doll laughed and walked away.

LCW Heritage Champion Stan Hansen (with Lady Amazon) defeated Iceman King Parsons (with Dark Journey) in 4:19 by pinfall after the Lariat clothesline. After the match, Hansen bragged about outsmarting Von Erich to win the LCW Heritage Championship in the locked box ladder match at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view last Sunday night. Hansen said it was a setup from the beginning. When he suggested the locked box ladder match he knew he was going to have Lady Amazon switch out the keys so that he would get the right key. Hansen also talked about Lady Amazon’s return and said she wasn’t’ going to go anywhere ever again. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and congratulated Hansen on winning the LCW Heritage Championship, but told him that effectively immediately he was stripping Hansen of the title as a result of the way he won the title. Hansen said that Bockwinkel couldn’t do that and called him a son of a bitch. Bockwinkel said that he could do it and added, “Speaking of bitches…” The audience exploded knowing that he was talking about Lady Amazon. Bockwinkel said that Amazon interfered in a match which was to determine her continued employment in LCW, but she interfered in the match and had an impact on the outcome. Bockwinkel announced that also effective immediately Lady Amazon was fired! Amazon threw a fit and Hansen said she wasn’t going anywhere and neither was the LCW Heritage Championship. Kevin Von Erich ran past Bockwinkel and down to the ring and brawled with Hansen, locking the claw on him and knocking him out. Meanwhile, while Von Erich had the claw locked on Hansen, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express came out and pulled Lady Amazon out of the ring and dragged her to the back. From the broadcast booth, Schiavone noted that it was the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express that Lady Amazon originally managed before she betrayed them and turned on them. After the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express pulled Amazon to the back, Von Erich released the claw and picked up the LCW Heritage Championship, walked up the entrance ramp with the title, and stopped in front of Bockwinkel, looked at the title for a moment, and then handed the title to Bockwinkel before walking to the back.

In the back, Don Muraco and Sir Oliver Humperdink were talking with LCW United States Champion Superfly Jimmy Snuka about his upcoming steel cage match with Patera. Snuka thanked Muraco for his help inspite of their past history. Muraco said it was all in the past and he was focused on the future. Snuka said he was still worried about Akbar and Al-Kassie interfering, even in a steel cage match and Muraco said Sir Oliver Humperdink would be at ringside with Snuka. Snuka thanked Muraco and Humperdink and Muraco said, “Just kick Ken Patera’s ass tonight, Superfly!”

The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez came out and demanded a rematch for the LCW Universal Championship tonight and he demanded that Magnum TA come out and face him like a man right now. Fernandez said Magnum TA extended his hand to him and Fernandez admitted to disrespecting Magnum by not shaking his hand because he was upset about lsoing the match. Fernandez asked for another chance to shake Magnum’s hand…so he could grab him and kick his ass again. Dr. Death Steve Williams came out with his manager Cowboy Bill Watts and Watts suggested that maybe if Fernandez wasn’t such an asshole and had shook Magnum’s hand like a man rather than being a sore loser, maybe Magnum would give him a shot at the title tonight. Watts said, “But since it doesn’t seem like Fernandez is coming out anytime soon, why don’t we do this, why don’t you stay in the ring and I send Dr. Death into the ring to kick your ass just like he kicked Nikita Koloff’s ass last Sunday night.” Fernandez challenged Williams to bring it on and Williams started making his way to the ring when LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and said that next week on LCW Showdown, Manny Fernandez would face Steve Williams and the winner would be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view on Sunday, December 28th. Fernandez and Williams stared each other down as the show went to commercial.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko discussed the match at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view for the LCW World Tag Team Championships in which the Midnight Express hit Rick Martel with a spike piledriver re-injurying Martel’s neck. In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Tito Santana who said Martel would be out 2-4 months. Santana said that he was going to stay by Martel’s side, train with him, and they’d come back stronger and better than ever.

Paul Orndorff (with Harley Race) defeated Sam Houston in 5:49 by pinfall after the piledriver. After the match, Harley Race said he would do whatever it took to see Big Van Vader defeated, beaten, and destroyed. Race said he was Paul Orndorff’s manager because he felt Orndorff was the one man qualified enough to get the job done. Race said, “I will not die before I see Vader defeated, beaten, and destroyed!” Race and Orndorff left ringside.

In the back, Stan Hansen burst into LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel’s office and demanded to know what was going on with his LCW Heritage Championship. Bockwinkel said it wasn’t his title anymore, but it was going to be someone’s by the end of the night because tonight there would be a 20-man battle royal to determine the new LCW Heritage Championship. Hansen said, “I just want to make sure that me and Kevin Von Erich are in that battle royal because if I don’t regain my title tonight, I want to make sure that I’m the one that keeps him from winning it.” Hansen walked out of Bockwinkel’s office as the show went to commercial.

Nature Boy Ric Flair - The Definitive Collection DVD

Ric Flair came out with Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll and talked about interfering in Blanchard’s match with the Rock at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view. Flair said he enjoyed locking the figure four leglock on the Rock and making him scream in pain. Flair said Rock was so Hollywood and it felt so good to give him a wrestling lesson. Flair said Rock was and overrated, over produced product of sports entertainment and that had forgotten what it’s really all about…professional wrestling! Flair said he was an entertainer, but would never forget what brought him to the dance, he would never be like the Rock and abandon what made him a star…wrestling! Flair said without the millions and millions of fans chanting his name, without the million dollar paychecks, the Rock wouldn’t even be in Legends Championship Wrestling. Flair talked about the Rock comparing him to Moby Dick, calling Flair his great white whale that he has to defeat and Flair said, “Don’t you understand, Rock, that’s the way it’s always been and that’s the way it’ll always be. I’ve said it before and it’s not just a slogan, it’s not just a motto, it’s the truth: to be the man you’ve got to beat the man and last time I check you’ve never beaten me, man. So come on Captain Ahab, come get me, come get the great white whale, because just like in Moby Dick, this great white whale is going to drag you down to your death.” Flair and Blanchard were about to leave the ring when Paul Roma came out and joined them in the ring. Roma suggested that they reform the Horsemen here tonight. Flair got in Roma’s face and told him to look around the ring. Flair said he was in the ring with two people that he would reform the Horsemen with and Paul Roma wasn’t one of them. Roma said he was Horsemen material and he just wanted the chance to prove it. Flair was against it, but Blanchard interruped and said that perhaps he and Flair could make it interesting. Blanchard suggest that he, Baby Doll, and Flair each pick an opponent for Paul Roma for the next three weeks and if Paul Roma could beat all three opponents then maybe they would reform the Four Horsemen and let Roma be a part of the group. Roma accepted the challenge and said he looked forward to beating each other their hand picked opponents. Flair told him to settle down because they said they would only think about letting Roma be a Horsemen if he beat all three opponents.

Maw Bass came out and gave her son a hug and left with Bass and Bart.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express, with manager Dennis Condrey, and Condrey said they put Strike Force on the shelf and warned Rick Martel that if and when he returned the next step might be to paralyze him permanently. The Hart Foundation appeared and Bret Hart challenged them to put him on the shelf. Jim Neidhart laughed and said, “Yeah, how about you try and paralyze me, right now?” Hart held Neidhart back and Condrey held back the Midnight Express
