LCW Showdown Television Results 10.29.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 29, 2008) live from the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT.

Tonight's episode of LCW Showdown in dedicated in loving memory to Conrad "SD Jones" Efraim (1945-2008).

In the back, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkle approached Harley Race and he told Race that he had to leave for the evening and was leaving Race in charge as the General Manager for the night. Race thanked Bockwinkel and Bockwinkel told him not to screw anything up too badly and then walked away. Race said he wouldn’t with a smile on his face.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko discussed last week’s main event in which the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez attacked LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA during a tag team match against Nikita Koloff and Superstar Billy Graham. Fernandez appeared in the broadcast booth and said, “Schiavone, I don’t need anyone apologizing for me. I meant what I said last week and I’d say it again if it wouldn’t get us kicked off the air. You see, I don’t want to get us kicked off the air, daddy. Everybody has been crying to me and asking me why I attacked Magnum TA last week. Everybody wants to know why I did what I did. I live by a very simple motto, a manta: no excuses, no sympathy. I want everyone to know that what I’m going to do to Magnum TA isn't personal. I don't give a damn about Magnum TA or anybody else. I just care about being the best and being the best means being the LWC Universal Champion. I want everyone to know right now, it’s the Year of the Bull, daddy, and Manny Fernandez is going to be the LCW Universal Champion before the end of 2008!” Schiavone tried to move on with the introduction and Fernandez started to rough up Schaivone. Zbyszko stood up pushed him away and Fernandez punched Zbyszko in the face, knocking him down to the floor before leaving the broadcast booth.

In the back, General Manager for the night Harley Race was on the speakerphone with Lady Amazon who said she wanted LCW Heritage Champion Kevin Von Erich to have to face Dr. Death Steve Williams tonight. Race said that sounded like a fine match, even if it was a non-title match, and noted that it would happen after the commercial break.

After the match, Williams and Koloff brawled to the back and Von Erich announced that Stan Hansen, his opponent at the LCW Redemption Day pay-per-view on November 30th, would have to beat his hand picked opponent at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special this Saturday if he wanted to pick the stipulation for their Redemption Day match. Von Erich announced that Hansen’s opponent would be…Terry Funk! Funk came out and said he would fight Hansen at Showdown at the Chase, but only if Von Erich agreed that if he beat Hansen he could choose the stipulation for Hansen and Von Erich’s match at Redemption Day. Von Erich said it sounded good to him. Von Erich joined Funk on the entrance ramp and the two men left together.

In the back, Don Muraco approached General Manager for the night Harley Race and said he wanted a match with Mr. Fuji tonight. Race said he couldn’t put Mr. Fuji in the ring with Don Muraco one-one-one, but he could give Muraco a match with the Great Kabuki. Muraco said that would work for him. Race said Muraco didn’t let him finish because he wasn’t just going to face Kabuki one-on-one because that had already been done. Race said tonight Kabuki would be teaming with the Powers of Pain to face Muraco and two partners of his choosing. Race told Muraco to choose wisely and wished him luck before walking away.

Fuji said he would be surprised if Muraco would even be able to find a partner because when he was a bad man he was a very bad man. In the back, LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks were yelling at General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie about losing to the Nasty Boys when they approached the Fantastics who were just standing around and talking and laughing with each other. The Bolsheviks confronted them and accused the Fantastics of laughing at them. Bobby Fulton said, “We were laughing at your boys. But now that you mention if, I do think it’s funny that we beat you by pinfall in a non-title match, we beat you by countout at Night of Horrors; we beat you last week by disqualification, and tonight you lose to the Nasty Boys in a non-title match. That makes me wonder if you boys aren’t ripe for the picking and if those titles aren’t ready to be taken away from you. I think it’s time to beat you by pinfall again, but this time with the titles on the line.” The Bolsheviks started to brawl with the Fantastics and the Bolsheviks started to gain the upper hand with help from Akbar and Al-Kassie. The Nasty Boys appeared and evened the odds, chasing the Bolsheviks away and helping the Fantastics to their feet. General Manager for the night Harley Race appeared and the Fantastics said they wanted a piece of the Bolsheviks and said they didn’t care if the titles were on the line or not. Race said he liked the sound of that and granted the Fantastics a match with the Bolsheviks and said the match would take place this Saturday at the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special and said the titles would be on the line. Before Race walked away he warned the Fantastics to “get the job done” because, “You guys have had ample opportunities to win those titles and your match at Showdown at the Chase will be a last chance match.”

Austin Idol defeated Sam Houston in 4:27 by pinfall after the Heartthrob Bomb piledriver. After the match, Wildfire Tommy Rich, with half of his head shaved, ran down the entrance ramp and chased Idol out of the ring before grabbing a microphone and said, “Austin Idol! What I did to you was temporary, but what you and Missy Hyatt and Hollywood John Tatum did to me is going to take a lot longer to go away because it’s going to take awhile for my hair to grow back. But more importantly it’s going to take a awhile for me to pick you three off one by one. Speaking of which, at LCW Redemption Day, I’m going to start with you because I want you one on one, and I want it to be a hair vs. hair match because either I’m going to lose and you’re going to get to finish the job or I’m going to hurt you and embarrass you more than you tried to embarrass me when you shaved half of my hair off. Because I’m not as connected to my hair as you are. I know you like making yourself pretty. You take pride in the way you look. But I don’t give a damn how I look. I want you to know that I’m going to leave this streak you shaved down my head the way it is. I’m going to walk through airports, I’m going to check into hotels, I’m going to go all around this country with people staring at me, and pointing at me, and laughing at me. But I’m going to wear it as a source of pride, I’m going to wear it with honor, I’m going to wear it to fuel my drive, and I’m going to wear it as a constant reminder of what you did to me and at LCW Redemption Day I’m going to get redemption when I beat your ass and shave you bald!” Idol was in shock on the entrance stage and as Rich started making his way up the entrance ramp, Idol made a hasty exit.
