LCW Showdown Television Results 10.22.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 22, 2008) live from the Veterans Memorial Arena in Phoenix, AZ.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view last Sunday night.

General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie came out with the Disciples of Allah: The Iron Sheik, Abdullah the Butcher, and LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks and Adnan introduced the newest member of the Disciples of Allah, new LCW United States Champion Ken Patera who came out and joined the Disciples of Allah in the ring. Akbar presented Patera with the keffiyeh headdress which Al-Kassie placed on Patera’s head. Patera and Al-Kassie embraced as Akbar explained that it was not Patera who was turning his back on America, but America who had turned their back on Patera. Akbar noted that the LCW United States Championship was back where it belongs, where it was going to stay, not with some lame American, but with a real American, an American not afraid to speak the truth, an American like Ken Patera. Akbar said some might think there would be some issue between former LCW United States Champion The Iron Sheik and Ken Patera, but he said that the Sheik knows his place in the Disciples of Allah and knows that gold for any one of them is power for them all. Akbar added that Sheik wasn’t worried since he’ll be getting at shot at the LCW International Championship tonight when he faces LCW International Champion Big Van Vader one-on-one. Bob Backlund came out with a bandage on his face covering the burn from the fireball that was thrown in his face by Al-Kassie last Sunday night at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view. Backlund challenged Patera to a rematch tonight, but Akbar told Backlund that he’d have to wait until the LCW Showdown at the Chase television special on Saturday, November 1st. Akbar said the Disciples of Allah were holding the LCW United States Championship hostage and no one, not Backlund, not anyone was going to take the title from them ever again. Backlund said he could wait for the title shot, but he couldn’t wait to kick Patera’s ass. Backlund ran down to the ring and started brawling with the Disciples of Allah, but the numbers were too great and Backlund was quickly outnumbered. Corporal Kirchner came out with a steel chair and cleared the Disciples of Allah out of the ring and helped Backlund to his feet.

In the back, LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA confronted Manny Fernandez about the way he defeated Superstar Billy Graham to become the number one contender for the LCW International Championship at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view last Sunday night. Fernandez said, “I’m just doing what I need to do, brother. If you can’t understand that, then maybe you’re just in my way like everybody else. You’ve got what I want and if that’s going to stand in the way of our friendship, then maybe we weren’t really friends in the first place.” Magnum said, “Manny, we are friends, but if this title means more to you than our friendship, if your desire for this (point to the title belt) is driving you to do what you did to Superstar Billy Graham, then maybe you’re right about one thing, but you’ve twisted it around, brother. We’ve always been friends, but if this (pointing to the title belt) is making you do what you’ve been doing, then maybe we’re not meant to be friends anymore. I’ve got no problem giving you a title shot…when you’ve done something to deserve it.” Magnum walked away leaving Manny Fernandez with an angry look on his face.

Rock said that Flair had to admit that he would have never beaten him without help from Blanchard. Rock said at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view last year, LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway would have never beaten him without help from Tully Blanchard. Rock said there seemed to be a common theme: Tully Blanchard Rock said he thought Blanchard had a problem with him and, if he did, they could settle the problem right now. Blanchard said he didn’t have any problem with the Rock and added that in each instance it wasn’t personal, it was just business. Rock laughed and said, “Well, that’s just fine Tully because I’m going to make it personal. I’m going to make it my personal business to kick your roody poo, candy ass!” The Rock made his way to the ring and brawled with Blanchard and Flair, handling the two men well until Baby Doll hit Rock with a low blow from behind. Bockwinkel asked why Graham thought he deserved a shot at the LCW Universal Championship and Graham said Fernandez is going to get his shot at the LCW International Championship and he cheated to get it so Graham wants a shot at the LCW Universal Championship instead. {COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA, Superstar Billy Graham, and Nikita Koloff came out for their triple threat match for the LCW Universal Championship. LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out and said, “With all due respect to LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel, something about this match just doesn’t feel right. I know all of you were looking forward to a triple threat match tonight for the LCW Universal Championship, but something just doesn’t feel right. No offense to either man, but I don’t think Superstar Billy Graham nor Nikita Koloff is ready for a title shot. Superstar Billy Graham just came off a loss, regardless of the circumstances, to “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez and in spite of his recent change of heart, I don’t know if Nikita Koloff has it in him anymore to be the LCW Universal Champion.” The audience booed and Calaway said, “Bear with me a moment, ladies and gentlemen, please. Tonight, there’s not going to be a title match, but there will be a number one contenders tag team match. Whoever scores a pinfall on either LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA or his partner will be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship at LCW Redemption Day.” Calaway then introduced Magnum TA’s tag team partner...“The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez! Before leaving the entrance stage, Calaway added that if Fernandez could pin either Koloff or Graham, he would be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone announced that Five Finger Death Punch’s “Never Enough” had been selected as the official theme song for the LCW Redemption Day 2008 pay-per-view and that the video would air at the end of tonight’s broadcast.

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez wrestled Nikita Koloff and Superstar Billy Graham to a no contest in 8:24. During the match, Manny Fernandez kept looked down at ringside where the timekeeper was sitting and holding the LCW Universal Championship. Fernandez also made no real effort to tag into the match when Magnum was close to tagging him into the match. During the better part of the match, Magnum was trapped in Koloff and Graham’s corner and every time he made it over to his corner, Fernandez made no effort to tag in and Magnum couldn’t reach him and Graham or Koloff would pull him back to their corner. At one point, even Nikita Koloff asked Fernandez what he was doing and Fernandez just flipped him off. Towards the end of the match, with Fernandez having not tagged into the match at all, Magnum hit Koloff and Graham both with consecutive belly-to-belly suplexes and then tagged went to the corner to confront Fernandez. Fernandez held out his hand like he had been waiting to tag into the match all along. Magnum could be overheard asking, “Where the hell were you?” Fernandez replied, “I was waiting for you.” Magnum pointed at the fallen Graham and Koloff, looked at Fernandez and said, “I did this for you, brother. Go get it.” Magnum tagged Fernandez into the ring and Fernandez got into the ring and grabbed Magnum as he was getting out of the ring, threw him into the ropes and hit him with the Flying Burrito! From the broadcast booth, Tony Schaivone screamed, “What the hell was that!?!” Meanwhile, Manny Fernandez looked down at Magnum TA and said, “I don’t need your f*ck*ng charity!” Schiavone continued, “Ladies and gentlemen, please, let me apologize on behalf of Manny Fernandez for that, what was clearly an emotional outburst.” As Fernandez continued looking down at Magnum, Koloff and Graham had made it back to their feet and challenged Fernandez asking him about what he had just done. Fernandez backed off and left the ring to a chorus of boos. As Koloff and Graham checked on Magnum TA, from the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone said, “I think we can safely assume that the friendship between LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA and Manny Fernandez is effectively over and it’s all because of the LCW Universal Championship and the Raging Bull’s desire to capture that prize.“ Meanwhile, the camera zoomed in on the timekeeper handing the title to the referee who handed the title to Magnum TA who was being helped to his feet by Koloff and Graham as the camera switched between shots of Fernandez walking away and Magnum getting back to his feet as the show went off the air.
