LCW Showdown Television Results 10.15.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 15, 2008) live from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed footage from last week’s LCW Showdown featuring Vader grabbing Slick and powerbombing him from the entrance stage through a table located beside the entrance stage on the floor below in an effort to secure a match tonight with LCW International Champion Butch Reed. Footage was also shown of Vader wrestling Dr. Death Steve Williams and being attacked by Reed at the end of the match.

Ric Flair came out with Dawn Marie on one arm and Baby Doll on the other arm. Together, they all came down the entrance ramp and got into the ring. However, the entire way down the entrance ramp, Baby Doll didn’t seem happy that Dawn Marie was with them. Once in the ring, Flair talked about being in the main event at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view next week against the Rock in the most anticipated main event in LCW history. Flair said he was going to prove once and for all that he’s not only the man, but he’s better than the Rock could ever dream of being. Flair talked about regaining the LCW Universal Championship from Magnum TA. Dr. Death Steve Williams came out with his manager Cowboy Bill Watts and, from the entrance ramp, Watts said Flair was confused about two things. Watts said the first thing Flair was confused about what his place on the card. Watts said, “In case you didn’t already know, please let me be the first to tell you that Dr. Death Steve Williams in the main event at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view this Sunday. Now while I know everyone is looking forward to seeing you kick the Rock’s ass at LCW Night of Horrors, you’re not in the main event.” Watts continued and said the second thing Flair was mistaken about was the fact that he’d be facing Magnum TA for the LCW Universal Championship. Watts said, “After LCW Night of Horrors, the only man you’ll be challenging for the LCW Universal Championship will be the new LCW Universal Champion, Dr. Death Steve Williams!” Flair said anytime he was on the card he was main event and anytime Dr. Death wanted a piece of the Nature Boy, he was more than welcome to step into the ring and get some. Williams started making his way down the entrance ramp as Flair took off his jacket. Williams got into the ring and got in Flair’s face and the two men stared at each other as Watts tried to calm the situation. The audience exploded as the Rock’s entrance theme filled the arena and the Rock came out and stood on the entrance stage. Rock said he was more than willing to let both Flair and Williams beat on each other, but he had something else in mind if they were both willing. Rock suggested that instead of arguing who the main event really was maybe Flair and Williams could put their egos aside and team up tonight to face him and his partner in what would certainly be tonight’s main event. Flair said he welcomed any chance to get Rock in the ring. Williams said Rock could bring it on. Flair asked Rock who his partner would be and Rock said he wanted Flair and Williams to agree to the match first. Flair wasn’t sure, but Watts said it didn’t matter who it was because Williams had destroyed everybody in Legends Championship Wrestling and would destroy the Rock and whoever his partner is as well. Rock then introduced his partner…LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA! Rock and Magnum soaked up the adulation of the crowd for a moment as Flair and Williams reacted in the ring.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW International Champion Butch Reed who said Slick wouldn’t be in his corner tonight when he faces Big Van Vader as a result of Vader’s attack on Slick last week. Reed said he didn’t just want to retain the title, he wanted revenge. Reed said that even though Slick wasn’t going to be coming to ringside with him tonight, he wouldn’t be coming to ringside alone. Mooney asked him what he meant and a familiar voice from off camera said, “I’ll tell you what he means, Mooney.” Harley Race then walked into frame and said, “I’ll be in Butch Reed’s corner. Slick asked me to be his insurance policy and I’m going to insure that Butch Reed walks in the LCW International Champion and walks out with the championship.” Race and Reed walked away as the show went to commercial.

Iceman King Parsons (with Dark Journey) defeated Austin Idol in 2:19 by pinfall with a rollup after Wildfire Tommy Rich came out and showed the embarrassing photo of Idol with his face covered in makeup and his hair messed up with gel after he was attacked by Idol and given the impromptu makeover by Rich and a stylist last week on LCW Showdown. As Rich laughed on the entrance stage, Idol threw a fit and Parsons took advantage of the distraction to rollup Idol for the pinfall and the win. An irate Idol ran out of the ring, up the entrance ramp, and chased Rich to the back.

In the back, Don Muraco confronted Mr. Fuji and asked Fuji if he was coming to ringside with him for his match with the Great Kabuki. Fuji said he wasn’t going to ringside with either man and wanted nothing to do with the match. Muraco said, “Fine. I’ll take care of business without you.” Muraco walked away as Fuji watched him leave as the show went to commercial.

Don Muraco wrestled the Great Kabuki to a no contest in 0:17 after Mr. Fuji came out and refused to let the two men wrestle. Fuji said the match wasn’t going to happen and tried to get Kabuki and Muraco to leave the ring together. Muraco went to leave the ring, but Kabuki blew his green mist in Muraco’s face for the third week in a row, this time, clearly on purpose. Fuji yelled at Kabuki, but left with Kabuki, leaving Muraco in the ring and yelling at Kabuki all the way up the entrance ramp and to the back.

In the back, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel confronted LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks and their managers General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie. Bockwinkel asked Akbar if he knew how long it had been since the Bolsheviks has defend the titles. Akbar said he couldn’t recall and Bockwinkel said, “Akbar, it’s been almost a month since the Bolsheviks defended the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. As a matter of fact, it’s been almost a month since they even wrestled in a match.” Akbar asked Bockwinkel what his point was and Bockwinkel said, “My point is this: tonight, the Bolsheviks will be in a match. Tonight, the Bolsheviks will face the Fantastics. Now, it will be non-title match because quite frankly I don’t want to hear your whining and when they lose I don’t want to hear that it was because of my racism or bigotry because let me assure you right now that neither of those blights on society are guiding my decision. But if the Fantastics can continue this win streak they’ve had recently, they will get a shot at the titles at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view this Sunday.” Bockwinkel wished the Bolsheviks luck and walked away.

In the back, an irate and somewhat blinded Don Muraco confronted the Great Kabuki and Mr. Fuji and tried to brawl with Kabuki, but Fuji kept them apart. Muraco said he was tired of the Great Kabuki spitting his mist in his face and he wanted nothing to do with Kabuki and if Fuji wanted to continue associating with Kabuki, then Muraco wanted nothing to do with Fuji. Muraco said Fuji needed to choose: him or the Great Kabuki. Fuji said he didn’t want to, but since Muraco was forcing him to choose, he would at the LCW Night of Horrors this Sunday. Fuji said Muraco and Kabuki would face each other and he wouldn’t get in their way or stop them and the winner would retain his services as their manager. Muraco stormed off as Fuji berated Kabuki in Japanese as the show went to commercial.

In a pre-taped interview, Bill Mercer sat down with LCW United States Champion Bob Backlund. Mercer asked Backlund about his shoulder injury and Backlund said he won the LCW United States Championship with an injured shoulder and he’d beat Ken Patera to retain the title with an injured shoulder. Backlund said he didn’t know what Patera’s problem was, but he was going to solve it.

The Hart Foundation came out and said at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view they were going to become two-time LCW World Tag Team Champions. Dennis Condrey came out with the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express and made his way to the ring without Bobby Eaton or Stan Lane to confront the Hart Foundation. Condrey said he spoke too soon when he said the Hart Foundation could face the Midnight Express for the titles. He said they were going to have to go through him first. Jim Neidhart laughed and seemed ready to take care of Condrey, but Bret Hart held him back and asked what Condrey meant. Condrey said, “Mabye this will clear things up.” Former Midnight Express member Randy Rose then jumped into the ring with a steel chair and blasted Neidhart and Hart, knocking them out. Rose and Condrey left the ring and joined Eaton and Lane on the entrance stage.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage from last week’s edition of LCW Showdown which featured Demolition destroying the Destruction Crew’s car during the Destruction Crew’s match with Young Stallions. The distraction allowed the Young Stallions to beat the Destruction Crew in a surprising upset.

Destruction Crew defeated The Young Stallions in 4:08 by pinfall when Enos pinned Roma after the Wrecking Ball. After the match, Wayne Bloom said that Demolition would feel the full force of the Destruction Crew devastation when they beat Demolition at their own game.

In the production truck, LCW Heritage Champion Stan Hansen demanded that producers replay the footage of his attack on Kevin Von Erich last week including the segment in which Lady Amazon setup Von Erich by making him that she had been beaten by Hansen. Von Erich burst into the production truck and the two men brawled in the truck as the crew scrambled to get out of the truck. Von Erich threw Hansen head first into a monitor that shattered and then locked the Claw on a bloody Hansen as security officials burst into the truck and tried to get Von Erich to break the Claw.

The Hart Foundation defeated the Original Midnight Express (with LCW World Tag Team Champions The Midnight Express) in 4:21 by pinfall when Bret Hart pinned Randy Rose after the Hart Attack. After the match, the Midnight Express jumped into the ring and attacked the Hart Foundation laying them out with the titles before leaving ringside with Condrey and Rose.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed The Sheepherders who said they wanted to be called the Bushwhackers again. They said they let their desire for gold turn them into people they didn’t want to be anymore, the bad people they used to be. They said their thirst for gold was only outmatched by their thirst for blood, but their thirst for blood had gotten in the way and stopped them from quenching their thirst for gold. They promised to change their ways and make it up to all their fans whom they had disappointed. James J. Dillon appeared and said he would miss the Sheepherders because as the Sheepherders, Butch Miller and Luke Williams, they were true to themselves as bloodthirsty savages. The Long Riders, Black Bart and Outlaw Ron Bass, appeared and attacked the Bushwhackers. Dillon laughed and said, “See you at Night of Horrors, Bushwhackers. Or will it be the Sheepherders? Or is it the Bushwhackers?” Dillon and the Long Riders laughed as they walked away.

The Fantastics defeated LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) in 5:18 by pinfall when Bobby Fulton pinned Boris Zhukov after a missile dropkick in a non-title match. After the match, LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and congratulated the Fantastics, the new number one contender for the LCW United States Tag Team Championships and the challenges for the Bolshevik’s titles at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view this Sunday.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Kevin Von Erich who still had Stan Hansen’s blood on his hands from his attack on Hansen in the production truck earlier in the show. Von Erich’s voice was scratchy as a result of being choked out by Hansen’s bullrope last week on LCW Showdown, but he said he wanted two things: to prove to Hansen that being an asshole and a jerk didn’t make Hansen anymore Texas than him. He suggested that they even the odds and make it old school at LCW Night of Horrors in a bunkhouse brawl. He said the other thing he wanted was to be rid of Lady Amazon once and for all. He said Amazon had been a thorn in her side for far too long. Von Erich said that if he beats Hansen at LCW Night of Horrors, he wants Amazon to leave Legends Championship Wrestling.

Macho Man Randy Savage (with LCW Television Champion The Genius Lanny Poffo) defeated Ron Garvin in 5:43 by disqualification after Poffo interfered and tried to attack Garvin. However, Garvin knocked out both Savage and Poffo with the Hands of Stone. Before leaving the ring, Garvin picked up the LCW Television Championship and looked at it for a moment before dropping it on Poffo and leaving the ring.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko talked about the upcoming match at LCW Night of Horrors this Sunday between Superstar Billy Graham and Raging Bull Manny Fernandez and the history between the two men. Schiavone reminded everyone that their differences started at the LCW Survival Project pay-per-view last month in the 50-man gauntlet match when Fernandez, after eliminating seven legends from the single-elimination gauntlet tournament, went to the 15-minute time limit draw with Graham. Fernandez blamed Graham when Big Van Vader broke his record later in the evening. Believing that the shot at the LCW International Championship should have been his and would have been his had it not been for Graham, Fernandez took his issue to Graham personally, but Graham believed that Fernandez should have showed some respect and actually stepped aside noting that this could be his last run in Legends Championship Wrestling. Fernandez didn’t agree and challenged Graham to a match at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view this Sunday with the winner going on to become the number one contender for the LCW International Championship. Schiavone said, “With that said, let’s take a very special look at the one and the only Superstar Billy Graham.”

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Raging Bull Manny Fernandez about the video tribute package and his upcoming match with Graham. Fernandez asked Mooney where his video tribute package was and said, “You know what, Mooney, it doesn’t even matter because at Night of Horrors, I’m going to prove once and for all, daddy, who deserves to be the number one contender for the LCW International Championship. I don’t know who Superstar Billy Graham thinks he is, but he’s going to learn very quickly that nothing gets handed to you in this business or in this life. Everything I’ve ever gotten in this life I’ve fought for, I’ve struggled for, I’ve worked for, daddy, and if Superstar Billy Graham wants to take the easy road, it’s going to have to go through me and I’m going to be a speed bump on that road that he isn’t just going to be able to drive right over, daddy.”

Big Van Vader defeated LCW International Champion Butch Reed (with Harley Race) in 8:39 by pinfall after the powerbomb to win the LCW International Championship after Race attempted to interfere and hit Vader with a steel chair, but Vader moved out of the way and Race hit Reed instead. After the match, Race told Vader not to get too attached to the title because he would have an opponent for him at Night of Horrors. Vader told Race to bring whoever he had on.

In the back, Baby Doll knocked on the locker room door of the Nature Boy Ric Flair and Flair came out and walked through the arena corridor with Baby Doll on his arm. As they turned a corner, they were met by Dr. Death Steve Williams and Cowboy Bill Watts, and together the four made their way to the ring as the show went to commercial.

After the match, Williams attacked Magnum TA as Flair brawled outside the ring with the Rock. Tully Blanchard came out and helped Flair attack the Rock. As Blanchard and Flair double teamed the Rock, on the other side of the ring Cowboy Bill Watts joined Williams in attacking Magnum TA. Rocky Johnson came out and evened the odds and Flair and Blanchard left ringside. Meanwhile, Nikita Koloff came out to help Magnum TA and Williams and Koloff stood face to face as Watts pulled Williams away from a confrontation with Koloff. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted, “You’ve got to believe that Cowboy Bill Watts isn’t worried about a showdown between Nikita Koloff and Dr. Death Steve Williams, but he doesn’t want to do anything to jeopardize Williams’ chances of winning the LCW Universal Championship this Sunday night at LCW Night of Horrors.” The Rock and Rocky Johnson stood in the ring as Nikita Koloff helped Magnum TA to his feet and handed him the LCW Universal Championship. Cowboy Bill Watts and Dr. Death Steve Williams looked at Magnum TA from the entrance stage as the show went off the air.
