LCW Showdown Television Results 10.01.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (October 1, 2008) live from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed Ric Flair’s return to Legends Championship Wrestling last week including his altercation with the Rock at LCW Survival Project which led to Flair being pinned by Sam Houston in the gauntlet tournament. Then, his attack on Sam Houston last week on LCW Showdown and the subsequent tag team match featuring Flair teaming with Tully Blanchard in a losing effort to Houston and Koko B. Ware which Schiavone noted was another unbelievable upset for Houston and led to tonight’s opening match, a singles match between Sam Houston and Ric Flair. Schiavone said, “With that said, let’s go to ringside and ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta.”

Ric Flair (with Dawn Marie and Baby Doll) defeated Sam Houston in 6:07 by submission with the figure four leglock. During the match, Baby Doll and Dawn Marie argued several times at ringside. After the match, the Rock came out and hit Flair with the Rock Bottom. Tully Blanchard came out and attacked Rock from behind, hitting him with a steel chair before leaving the ring with Flair, Dawn Marie, and Baby Doll. From the entrance ramp, Flair challenged the Rock, who was slowly making his way to his feet after the chair shot from Blanchard, to a match at the LCW Night of Horrors pay-per-view on Sunday, October 19th.

In the back, James J. Dillon was with Outlaw Ron Bass when Black Bart approached and Dillon said the Long Riders were back together. The three of them made their way through the arena corridor on their way to the ring.

Fuji tried to calm down an irate Don Muraco who was wiping the Great Kabuki’s green mist from his eyes. He said he was so proud to be reunited with his former two-time LCW World Tag Team Champions and promised that he would take them back to the gold. He said Paul Jones never really understood the Powers of Pain like he did. Mr. Fuji said he was disappointed in the Orient Express and their inability to beat Demolition earlier in the evening, but added that he didn’t think they would have to worry about Demolition very much longer because the Destruction Crew was going to destroy Demolition. The Powers of Pain, the Orient Express, the Great Kabuki, and Mr. Fuji all laughed, but the only one not laughing was Don Muraco who was still trying to wipe the green mist off his face. Mr. Fuji put his arm around Muraco and tried to get him to join in, but Muraco cracked a sarcastic smile and then returned to wiping the green mist from his face.

In the back, Wildfire Tommy Rich was talking with the hairdresser when Austin Idol burst into the scene and said Rich was interfering in his “beautiful time.” Idol said that Rich needed to leave and told the hairdresser that she needed to focus her attention on the most beautiful man in the arena, “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol. The hairdresser ignored him and Idol asked the hairdresser if she’d rather work on Rich’s “dried out, split ended, sorry excuse for bleach blonde hair” or work on his “beautiful, all natural long, blonde, mane.” The hairdresser continued to ignore Idol and he grabbed her by the arm and said, “Look, bitch…” She slapped Idol across the face and when Idol went to slap her, Rich grabbed his arm and began punching Idol. Idol fought back and almost gained the upper hand slamming Rich’s head into the makeup cart, but the hairdresser sprayed some hairspray in Idol’s face, blinding him and allowing Rich to gain the upper hand. Rich hit Idol with the bottle of hairspray knocking him out. Idol fell into the hairdresser’s chair and Rich began smearing makeup all over Idol’s face as the hairdresser sprayed him with moose and smeared various hair gels all over his face.
