LCW Showdown Television Results 09.10.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (September 10, 2008) live from the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone explained that tonight would be a special "Championship Edition" of LCW Showdown as the winners from all of the mini-gauntlet series of matches last week on LCW Showdown would get their title shots tonight.

LCW Television Champion Ron Garvin defeated Randy Savage (with The Genius Lanny Poffo) in 6:41 by pinfall after the Hands of Stone. After the match, Poffo attacked Garvin from behind with his metal scroll and put Garvin's hand under the scroll and stomped on the scroll. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone said, "I think I heard Garvin's hand break. I think The Genius Lanny Poffo just broke Ron Garvin's hand." As Savage and Poffo left the ring, medical officials ran into the ring to check on Garvin. The medical officials asked Garvin if he could move his hand and he said he couldn't. Garvin's hand was wrapped and he was helped out of the ring as the show went to commercial.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed the footage of The Genius Lanny Poffo breaking LCW Television Champion Ron Garvin's hand and as the footage played Schiavone said, "Listen to that, Larry. You can hear the bones in his hand snapping as Poffo stomps on the metal scroll." In the back, LCW General Manager Nick
Bockwinkel check with medical officials on the condition of Garvin who confirmed that Garvin's hand was broken. Garvin demanded a match with Poffo next week on LCW Showdown. Bockwinkel said he wouldn't be able to wrestle because he wouldn't be able to be medically cleared to wrestle with a broken hand. Garvin said he didn't care what it took or what Bockwinkel had to do, he wanted Poffo in a match one-on-one next week and he'd even put the title on the line if that's what it took to get the match made. Bockwinkel asked the medic if Garvin would be able to wrestle and the medic said that his hand would have to be in a cast and he'd have to use caution when using it. Bockwinkel said that wouldn't be an issue because he was going to give Garvin the match and the title would be on the line, but if Garvin used the cast at all, he would be immediately disqualified and the title would be awarded to Poffo. Garvin agreed to the stipulations and Bockwinkel left as the medical officials continued working on Garvin's broken hand.

LCW Heritage Champion Stan Hansen (with Lady Amazon) defeated Terry Funk in 8:23 by pinfall after the Lariat. After the match, One Man Gang came out with a table and attacked Funk, hitting him with the 747 Splash through the table. Medical officials ran out with a stretcher and Funk had to be taken away from ringside on the stretcher.

In the back, the cameraman was running with security officials through the arena corridors towards a fight backstage between Ken Patera and Billy Jack Haynes. In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll about Blanchard's involvement in the mini-gauntlet series last week to determine the number one contender for the LCW United States Championship. Blanchard said the match with LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez should be his tonight, but just like at the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view last month, Jake The Snake Roberts had again cost him a victory. He said Roberts was a brawler and not as technically sound and proficient as him. Blanchard said if Roberts had kept it in the ring, he would have won, he would have gone on to beat the Iron Sheik and he would have won the LCW United States Championship from Fernandez tonight. Blanchard said he wanted Jake Roberts one on one in a match next week on LCW Showdown.

The Iron Sheik (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) defeated LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez in 8:12 by submission with the camel clutch to win the LCW United States Championship after Al-Kassie broke his flagpole across Fernandez's back as he was bouncing off the ropes in an attempt to hit Sheik with the Flying Burrito. Sheik locked Fernandez in the camel clutch for the submission and the win.

Jake The Snake Roberts came out and challenged Tully Blanchard to a match tonight saying, "Why wait until next week to do what we can do tonight?" Blanchard came out said he wasn't ready tonight, just like Roberts wasn't ready for this: Outlaw Ron Bass tried to attack Roberts from behind, but Roberts fought off Bass and went to hit him with the DDT. However, Blanchard had hit the ring and attacked Roberts from behind. Sam Houston then ran out and attacked Blanchard, knocking him out of the ring. Roberts hit Bass with the DDT and rolled him out of the ring. As Bass, his manager James J. Dillon, Tully Blanchard, and Baby Doll walked up the entrance ramp to the back, Roberts asked if Blanchard was ready now. Roberts suggested a tag team match featuring him teaming with his brother Sam Houston and taking on Blanchard and Bass. Blanchard said he was on and the match would happen next week.

Diamond Dallas Page defeated LCW International Champion Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin (with Precious) in 6:11 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter. After the match, Butch Reed came out with his manager Slick and attacked Page from behind, hitting him with three shoulderbreakers before security officials came out and pulled Reed off of Page. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted, "I don't think I've ever seen Butch Reed this intense, this focused, or this vicious. He wants only one thing and that's the LCW International Championship. This was a drive-by, this was a mugging, this was an assault like we've never seen from Butch Reed before."

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage of Butch Reed attacking new LCW International Champion Diamond Dallas Page after Page won the title from Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin before the commercial break. In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Butch Reed and Slick about the attack and Slick said, "It's really a simple matter, Mooney. Diamond Dallas Page took from Butch Reed what should have been: the LCW International Championship. And congratulations to DDP on winning the title because not only has he won the gold, but he's also placed a target square on his back, or should I say on his shoulder." Reed said that he wanted Diamond Dallas Page one-on-one next week on LCW Showdown because he wanted to take what was his, what he earned at the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view in the King of the Cage match: a shot at the LCW International Championship.

The Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) defeated LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Skyscrapers in 5:18 by pinfall when Nikolai Volkoff pinned Dan Spivey after Abdullah the Butcher interfered and blasted Spivey with a steel chair while Vicious was fighting off Zhukov, Adnan, and Al-Kassie outside the ring. After the match, the Disciples of Allah left ringside and were joined on the entrance ramp by the new LCW United States Champion the Iron Sheik. Meanwhile, in the ring, Vicious tried to help his partner to his feet, but an upset Spivey pushed Vicious away and Vicious pushed Spivey down the mat and walked away from ringside, leaving Spivey in the ring.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the Skyscrapers and Sid Vicious told Dan Spivey that he needed to get his mind back in the game or they were finished. Vicious told Spivey that they lost the LCW World Tag Team Championships because of Spivey and they just lost the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. Spivey said, "You know what, Sid, you're absolutely right. I need to get my head back in the game. I think I'm going to take some time off. You walked away from me tonight and I'm going to walk away from you for awhile." Spivey walked away as a confused Vicious watched him leave. Vicious left moments later and Mooney said, "Well, the Skyscrapers aren't condemned yet, but they seemed to be closed temporarily for renovations."

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA defeated Nikita Koloff in 11:01 by pinfall after the belly-to-belly suplex. After the match, Koloff grabbed the LCW Universal Championship from the timekeeper and stood face to face with Magnum, looking down at the title and then looking at Magnum. Koloff then threw the title at Magnum's feet before walking
out of the ring.
