LCW Showdown Television Results 08.27.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (August 27, 2008) live from the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, OH.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. From ringside, ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta introduced LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and the LCW Board of Directors: Bruno Sammartino, Verne Gagne, Mil Mascaras, Gene Kiniski, Pat Patterson, Pedro Morales, Dominic DeNucci, Baron Mikel Scicluna, Capt. Lou Albano, Ivan Koloff, and Dory Funk, Jr., who came out to the entrance stage as a picture of Walter “Killer” Kowalski appeared on the LegendsTron. Calaway announced that last week Kowalski, a member of the Board of Directors, was taken off life support and wasn’t expected to live. Calaway noted, however, that Kowalski was a fighter and if anyone could continue to fight and survive, it would be Kowalski. Calaway said, “It is, however, with a sad and heavy heart that I have to announce today that while Mr. Kowalski has yet to pass away, he is no longer in a position to continue as a member of the Board of Directors. Therefore, the Board of Directors voted Monday to replace him effective immediately.” Calaway wished Kowalski the best on his recovery and knew the fighting Kowalski would continue to be the very definition of the words legend and champion until his passing. Calaway also wished Kowalski’s family and friends the best as they continue to battle through this difficult time. Calaway implored them to continue in their unwavering commitment and love for the truly remarkable Kowalski as they were not alone. Calaway announced that the new member of the Board of Directors would be announced by the end of the night and left with the members of the Board of Directors.

In the ring, Bill Mercer introduced Superstar Billy Graham who came out and joined Mercer in the ring. As the audience exploded, Graham thanked the fans for their support and announced that he would be a participant in the Survival Project. Graham said he would single handedly go through all 49 of the other participants if he had to if it meant becoming the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. He said he and LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA were friends, but the fact that this might be his last chance to become the LCW Universal Champion. He said, “This might be my last run, but it’ll be a run for the gold!” Kevin Sullivan appeared with Luna Vachon and said that Graham wasn’t going to win the Survival Project because he’d have to go through him first and he wasn’t going to go through him. Sullivan taunted Graham about running him down with his car several months ago and putting him on the shelf and Graham said, “How about trying to run me down, tonight?” Sullivan accepted the challenge, but said that if he won Graham wouldn’t be allowed to participate in the Survival Project. Graham agreed to the stipulation.
