LCW Showdown Television Results 07.30.08
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko reviewed the results of the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday night. (Click here for the complete results.)
The new LCW World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express, Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton, came out with Stan Lane, the insurance policy they promised would guarantee them a victory at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday night which came to fruition when Lane interfered and helped Condrey and Eaton win the titles from the Skyscrapers. Condrey grabbed a microphone and talked about the formation of the Midnight Express with Randy Rose and Norvell Austin and when he started teaming with a young Bobby Eaton. Condrey said that against the cruel judge of time no one could measure up to the Midnight Express and they proved it last Sunday night at LCW Beach Brawl when they defeated the Skyscrapers. Condrey talked about leaving Jim Crockett Promotions in 1987 and said it was a mistake, but he was proud of what he and Bobby Eaton had accomplished since reuniting including winning the LCW World Tag Team Championships. Condrey continued, “But as great as this moment is, it’s going to be bittersweet because I’m still hurt, I’m in constant pain because of that powerbomb a few months ago through a table from the Skyscrapers. While the last laugh was ours and we’re laughing the loudest now that we’ve got these titles around our waists, I’m still in constant pain. One year ago, at LCW Beach Brawl 2007 oddly enough, I debuted in Legends Championship Wrestling to become the manager of the Midnight Express, Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane, and one year later I’m going to return to that role, not because I want to, but because I have to…at least for awhile. So, I’m going to surrender my title to Stan Lane and I’m going to take my place in the corner of the Midnight Express once again as their manager, but I’ll be there if and when either Bobby Eaton or Stan Lane need me. At the end of the day, I just wanted to know that I could, I just had to know if I could do it one more time and now that it’s done, I’m done. But you see, it’ll never be over because the Midnight Express are the new LCW World Tag Team Champions and we’re going to remain the LCW World Tag Team Champions for a long time to come. Bring on every team in Legends Championship Wrestling, line ‘em up and we’ll knock ‘em down. Skyscrapers, Hart Foundation, Demolition, it doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done or where you’re from. If you want some, come get you some.” Lane, Eaton, and Condrey left the ring.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll about their victory over LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and the Rock at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday. (Click here for the complete results.) Blanchard, who was bruised and bandaged after being attacked by LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday night, said that, as a result of the victory, Baby Doll’s lifetime contract was secure and Blanchard asked Baby Doll what she thought about that. Baby Doll laughed and said, “Diamonds are forever and so is my contract in Legends Championship Wrestling.” Blanchard said that another result of the victory at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday night was a title shot promised to him by Calaway if they won and Blanchard said he was going to win the LCW Universal Championship from Magnum TA in tonight’s main event. Mooney asked Blanchard about the bandages and the bruises on his face after being attacked by LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday and an angry Blanchard got in Mooney’s face and stared at Mooney for a moment before leaving with Baby Doll.

LCW International Champion Paul Orndorff defeated Sam Houston in 4:59 by pinfall after the piledriver. After the match, Orndorff said there wasn’t any competition that was on his level in Legends Championship Wrestling. Orndroff said he wasn’t going to defend his title until the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view because he only had to defend his title once every thirty days and since none of the legends in LCW were on his level, he wasn’t going to waist his time when he didn’t have to. LCW General Manager Nick Bockwinkel came out and, from the entrance stage, said that Orndorff was well within his legal right to not defend the title for the next thirty days if he didn’t want to, but Bockwinkel said that Orndorff would defend his title at the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view on August 24th…in an Elimination Chamber match! Paul Orndorff exploded and said that he wouldn’t defend the title in an Elimination Chamber. Orndorff said he successfully defended his title against Diamond Dallas Page on July 27th at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view (Click here for the complete results) and he wasn’t going to defend his title again until August 26th, thirty days after LCW Beach Brawl, but also two days after LCW Caged Heat on August 24th. Bockwinkel said Orndorff was going to defend the title, or he’d be stripped of the title and there’d be a new LCW International Champion at LCW Caged Heat. Orndorff relented and said he’d defend the title, but said he wasn’t going to wrestle until then and was going to train intensely for the Elimination Chamber match. Bockwinkel announced that over the course of the next four weeks on LCW Showdown, there would be four qualifying match to determine who would joined Orndorff in the Elimination Chamber. Orndorff said, “Wait a minute, Bockwinkel, if there are four qualifying and I’m already in the Elimination Chamber match, that’s five legends in the Elimination Chamber. Don’t Elimination Chamber matches normally feature six legends.” Bockwinkel said another legend had been given a bye into the Elimination Chamber match. Bockwinkel said this man had received a bye into the match because Orndorff clearly cheated during their match last Sunday night at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view. Bockwinkel introduced Diamond Dallas Page who came out onto the entrance stage and flashed the Diamond Cutter sign and the signaled that the title would be around his waist.

Baby Doll came out with Tully Blanchard and they got into the ring. Baby Doll said she had a lifetime contract and there wasn’t anything LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway could do about it. Baby Doll and Blanchard laughed about it and Baby Doll continued talking about Tully Blanchard getting a shot at the LCW Universal Championship tonight against LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA in tonight’s main event. LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out and, from the entrance ramp, said, “Baby Doll, you’re right there isn’t anything I can do about you and your lifetime contract and there isn’t even a lot that I would do to you because if there’s one thing that I learned during our time together in the Entourage it was that you’re just as stubborn as me and you’ll so at nothing to get you want and to keep it. And you got it, you got your lifetime contract and I just wanted to come out here to congratulate you.” Baby Doll looked shocked and then smiled and thanked Calaway, but Calaway interrupted her and said, “Don’t thank me too much because while I’m not going to do anything to interfere with your lifetime contract, there is a lot that I can do to Tully Blanchard to make you regret that contract.” Blanchard clearly didn’t like what he was hearing as Calaway continued, “Let’s start with the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view in less than thirty days on Sunday, August 24th. I’m going to give myself an early birthday present because Tully Blanchard I’m putting you in a match at LCW Caged Heat, I’m putting you in a steel cage, but I’ll make it worth your while. I’ll put a title on the line. I’ll put you in the ring with a champion. And if you manage to beat LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA tonight for the title then it will be a champion vs. champion match in a steel cage, but I’m not too worried about that right now. Right now, I’m thinking ahead to LCW Caged Heat when you’re going to go one on one in a steel cage with a champion.” Blanchard told Calaway to bring it on and asked him who he had in mind and Calaway said, “Better than just tell you, why don’t I just bring him out here right now.” Blanchard motioned for Calaway to bring him on, but his arrogance turned to shock when Calaway introduced LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez who had the brass knuckles that he used on Blanchard at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday (Click here for the complete results) and when the camera zoomed in you could see Blanchard’s dried blood on the brass knuckles. Blanchard threw a fit in the ring as Calaway tried to restrain Fernandez. Calaway said, “Tully, I know you’re upset, but I’m going to make it worth your while because not only will the LCW United States Championship be on the line, but I’m going to give you a chance to extract some revenge on the ‘Raging Bull’ because I’m going to make your steel cage match at LCW Caged Heat what I’m calling a brass corners steel cage match because at the top of the steel cage, in each corner of the steel cage will be a pair of brass knuckles. And when you get close enough to get to those brass knuckles, you can either leave over the top of the steel cage and win the title that way or you can use those brass knuckles on your opponent to not only win the match and the title but extract some revenge on your opponent Now, Tully, I’ll be honest, what Manny did to you at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday night was pretty brutal and I want to insure both your safety and I want to insure there’s no attempts at retribution on your part until LCW Caged Heat next month. So, for the next three weeks, until LCW Caged Heat in beautiful South Africa, the two of you will be banned from LCW arenas and events. I want the two of you to focus, I want you to train, I want you to build your hatred for each other because I want you two to bring your best because we’re going to settle this thing between the two of you once and for all at LCW Caged Heat. The ban goes into effect immediately following tonight’s main event.” Calaway left with Fernandez as a still Baby Doll and Blanchard looked at each other in shock and Baby Doll tried to explain to Blanchard what just happened.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed what just happened between LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway, LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez, Tully Blanchard, and Baby Doll as Calaway announced that Blanchard would face Fernandez in what Calaway has dubbed a “brass corners” steel cage match in which a pair of brass knuckles would be placed in all four corners at the top of the steel cage and Blanchard or Fernandez could win the match by either climbing the cage and leaving over the top or by being the first to use the pair of brass knuckles on his opponent. Schiavone reminded everyone that Calaway also announced that Blanchard and Fernandez would be banned from all LCW arenas and events until the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view on Sunday, August 24th and that the ban would go into effect tonight after Blanchard’s match with LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage of Luna Vachon and Kevin Sullivan attacking Madusa Micelli backstage at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday. After the match, Madusa kicked at Sullivan and Sullivan got into the ring to attack Madusa, but Diamond Dallas Page came out and hit Kevin Sullivan with the Diamond Cutter and left ringside with Madusa as Vachon checked on Sullivan.

Fernandez got into the limousine and it drove away. Calaway turned his attention to Sean Mooney who was standing there and Mooney asked Calaway what he meant when he said he had everything under control. Calaway said he was hoping Mooney would ask him that because he forgot to tell Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll one thing while they were all together earlier. Calaway said, “I forgot to tell Tully that in his match with LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA tonight…I’ll be the special guest referee.” Calaway walked away, but quickly returned and said, “Oh yeah, and as a little primer for the LCW Caged Heat pay-per-view…it’s going to be a steel cage match!” Calaway walked away as a speechless Mooney watched him leave.

In the back, Lady Amazon was talking with Stan Hansen when Sean Mooney approached them and asked her why she turned on Kevin Von Erich. Amazon said she explained herself at the LCW Beach Brawl pay-per-view last Sunday, (Click here for the complete results) but since Mooney needed more clarification, it was simple. She said she was tired of backing a pathetic loser and had decided she wanted to back a winner and she found a winner: Stan Hansen. Hansen said, ”This ain’t about Miss Lady Amazon. This is about you and me, boy. She didn’t want a pretty boy anymore. She wanted a real man and now she’s got one. The only reason you was anything in this business is because you’re a daddy’s boy and your daddy was the promoter. But now your daddy’s dead and your brothers are dead so there ain’t no one who can save you now. And that’s too bad for you, boy, because I’m going to hurt you so bad you’re going to wish you were with your daddy and your brothers in Heaven. You say you’re from Texas, but you ain’t Texas, boy! I’m Texas and I’m going to show you what being Texas is really all about!” Hansen and Lady Amazon walked away.
