LCW Showdown Television Results 05.14.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (May 14, 2008) live from the Pavilion in Villanova, PA.

Tonight’s episode of LCW Showdown is dedicated in loving memory to Judy Grable (1925-2008).

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone reviewed what happened last week on LCW Showdown when the LCW Board of Directors decided to strip Rowdy Roddy Piper of the LCW United States Championship for appearing on WWE television twice in as many weeks. Schiavone reminded everyone that tonight twenty-men would step into the ring to compete in a battle royal to crown a new LCW United States Champion tonight.

LCW Television Champion Manny Fernandez came out and said, “Two weeks ago, when I was hit by Stone Cold Steve Austin with the Stone Cold Stunner, I knew it was a mistake. It was an accident. I told myself he was disoriented and confused after being hit by the Russian Sickle clothesline from Nikita Koloff. But last week, last week was not a mistake, daddy. I want Stone Cold Steve Austin to come out here and explain himself right now!” LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and joined Fernandez in the ring and said, “You’re right, Bull. It wasn’t a mistake last week. Hell, it wasn’t a mistake the week before either. You were in the way two weeks ago and you were in the way last week. And I’d do it again if you got in the way again.” Austin got closer to Fernadez and Fernandez said, “How about if I get in your way again tonight?” The two men stared at each other for a moment and then started exchanging blows, brawling with each other until Fernandez grabbed Austin and threw him into the rope. Fernandez attempted to hit Austin with the Flying Burrito, but Austin moved out of the way and hit Fernandez with the Lou Thesz press. After the Lou Thesz press, Fernandez rolled out of the ring and left up the entrance ramp.

Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin (with Precious) defeated LCW Heritage Champion Billy Jack Haynes in 6:01 by pinfall when Garvin pinned Haynes with a small package rollup. During the match, Haynes applied the full nelson to Garvin, but Precious collapsed at ringside, distracting the referee. Garvin kicked Haynes with a low blow to break the full nelson. Precious slowly regained her senses after a moment and when the referee turned around he saw Garvin with Haynes in the small package and made the pinfall count for the win.

In the back, Kevin Sullivan was reading an article on his computer about Superstar Billy Graham’s fall in a hotel bathroom to Luna Vachon and they laughed about Graham ripping the sink off the wall. Sullivan said they might never have to worry about Superstar Billy Graham coming back to Legends Championship Wrestling.

In the back, Billy Jack Haynes approached LCW General Manager Ole Anderson and demanded that she be fired immediately for interfering in the match. Anderson said there wasn’t anything he could do because, while Precious’ collapse during the match was suspicious, he couldn’t fire her because he couldn’t prove that her fainting was anything but legitimate and not an attempt to distract the referee as she did. Haynes stormed off saying the decision was crap.

King Kong Bundy and One Man Gang (with Skandor Akbar) defeated Demolition in 5:18 by pinfall when Gang pinned Demolition Ax after the 747 Splash. During the match, Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater came down to ringside with their manager Col. Robert Parker. Towards the end of the match, Parker distracted the referee and Orton and Slater pulled Smash off the ring apron and threw him into the ring steps and then went into the ring and hit Ax with a double suplex and Gang hit him with the 747 Splash for the pinfall and the win.

Hollywood John Tatum came out with Missy Hyatt and went to the ring. Hyatt complained that it had been three weeks since he beat Ron Garvin in a match to earn a shot at the LCW Television Championship, but Manny Fernandez still hadn’t given Tatum a shot at the title because he was “too distracted by his little boyfriend Magnum TA and Stone Cold Steve Austin.” Ron Garvin came out and, from the entrance stage said Tatum couldn’t beat him and wouldn’t have beaten him three weeks ago without help from the Honky Tonk Man. Garvin said he’s been trying to get his hands on Honky Tonk, but Honky Tonk had been avoiding him because he knew if he stepped into the ring with Garvin he’d finish what Honky Tonk Man tried to start. Garvin said since he couldn’t find the Honky Tonk Man maybe he should just finish things with Tatum. Garvin started to head toward the ring. The Honky Tonk Man then came out with Jimmy Hart and said he wasn’t avoiding anybody and would step in the ring tonight if Garvin wanted to settle things between them. Missy Hyatt said she was bored and went to leave with Tatum when Garvin said he still wanted a piece of Tatum and wanted that title shot that Honky Tonk Man screwed him out of. LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and joined Honky Tonk Man and Jimmy Hart on the entrance stage and said, “How about we do this? Honky Tonk Man, Ron Garvin, you two are going to go one on one tonight and the winner will face Hollywood John Tatum next week on LCW Showdown and the winner of that match will go on to face LCW Television Champion Manny Fernandez at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view in two weeks.” Tatum threw a fit in the ring and Missy Hyatt screamed that Tatum had already proved himself. Anderson said, “No, Missy, Tatum just proved that he can win a match when someone comes into the ring and blasts him opponent over the head with a guitar. As a matter of fact, I think Tatum needs to prove that he deserves the title shot. I’ve kind of setup a little tournament here, but Tatum isn’t going to get a buy into the finals. No, let’s give him a semi-final match tonight. Tonight, Hollywood John Tatum will face…Hillbilly Jim! And if Hillbilly Jim can beat Tatum tonight, then he will go on to face the winner of the Honky Tonk Man-Ron Garvin match tonight next week on LCW Showdown!” Anderson walked away and At the announcement of this, Tatum was livid and stormed out of the ring with Missy Hyatt. Meanwhile, Honky Tonk Man ran down the entrance ramp and when Garvin turned around, he blasted Garvin in with the guitar security officials came out and escorted Honky Tonk and Jimmy Hart to the back. As Tatum made his way up the entrance ramp with Missy Hyatt, medical officials arrived to check on Ron Garvin. As Tatum passed by Garvin he kicked Garvin in the head as the medical officials yelled at him to leave. Security officials came out and escorted Tatum and Hyatt the rest of the way to the back.

Slick came out with Butch Reed and Tony Atlas and said they wanted a tag team match with The Rock and Rocky Johnson tonight. The Rock appeared on the LegendsTron with his father, Rocky Johnson, and said, “I can’t speak for my father, but I’m really getting tired of whipping your candy asses. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, for you guys I’m on location filming my new movie, ‘Witch Mountain.’ But I want to end this Brothahood thing once and for all. I tried to beat Butch Reed one-on-one, but Tony Atlas and Slick wanted to stick their noses in and they got their asses beat for their effort. Every time my father tries to take on one of you guys one on one, the other guys gets involved. So, we’ll give you guys a tag team match in two week at LCW Uprising. But, before you agree there’s a stipulation I want before I agree to waste my time with you guys again. In two weeks, if we beat you guys, the Brothahood is dead, over, finished once and for all. You guys can never team again and if you ever try to interfere in one of the other’s matches you will both be fired!” Slick threw a fit and The Rock said, “Don’t worry, Slick. I wouldn’t try to interfere with your business dealings and wouldn’t want to cost you any money. This deal won’t apply to you. You will still be allowed to manage Butch Reed and Tony Atlas, but only if you step in the ring with them at LCW Uprising.” Slick looked shocked and said, “But the odds wouldn’t be even, it would be the three of us against the two of you.” Slick realized what he was saying and agreed to the stipulation and Rock said he and his father couldn’t wait to put an end to the Brothahood once and for all…if you smell…what the Rock…is cookin’!”

In the back, Magnum TA was walking through the arena corridor when LCW General Manager Ole Anderson asked if Magnum was going to ringside to interfere in Paul Orndorff’s match. Magnum said he was going to provide guest commentary with Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko. Anderson reminded Magnum not to interfere in the match if he wanted his match with Paul Orndorff at the LCW Uprising poay-per-view to determine the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship at the LCW SuperClash pay-per-view.

Orndorff picked up Putski again and hit him with a third piledriver. Magnum jumped up on the ring apron, but didn’t get in the ring. Meanwhile, Rick Martel and Tito Santana came through the crowd and got into the ring and helped Ivan Putski out of the ring. LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and said, “Since you two seem to want to be in the ring with each other so badly, we’re not going to wait until LCW Uprising. As a matter of fact, next week on LCW Showdown you two are going to be in the ring together…as a tag team! And you’re going to face…Strike Force!”
