LCW Showdown Television Results 04.30.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (April 30, 2008) live from the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, ID.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko announced that Magnum TA had been medically cleared to wrestle only four weeks after his car was run off the road by Paul Orndorff and crashed into a ditch. Schiavone questioned if Magnum wasn’t returning to the ring too soon after separating his shoulder in the car accident. Zbyszko said Magnum wants to get his hands on Paul Orndorff and doesn’t want to wait until LCW Uprising on May 25th. Schiavone announced that in tonight’s main event, LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin would team with Magnum TA to take on Paul Orndorff and Nikita Koloff. Schiavone also reminded everyone that The Rock would step into the ring for the first time in almost a year against Butch Reed tonight.

Terry Funk defeated Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) and Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) in 5:17 in a triple threat match by pinfall when Funk pinned Blanchard with a small package rollup to determine the number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view on May 25th. During the match, Vader was distracted by LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams and his manager Cowboy Bill Watts who appeared on the entrance stage.

Cowboy Bob Orton and Dirty Dick Slater (with Col. Robert Parker) defeated The Wild Samoans in 4:01 by disqualification after Demolition interfered and attacked Orton and Slater. Before the match, Col. Robert Parker berated Demolition and said they made a mistake by destroying his wedding to Lady Amazon and if they wanted to get involved tonight, Orton and Slater would show them just how bad of a mistake they made. After the match, Demolition and Orton and Slater continued to brawl and brawled all the way to the back.

In the back, Billy Jack Haynes approached LCW General Manager Ole Anderson and demanded a rematch with LCW Heritage Champion Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin. Haynes said he should be the champion or, at least, Garvin should have been disqualified for using the full nelson and winning the match with the full nelson. Haynes said, “I thought the full nelson was supposed to be barred during the match.” Anderson said, “Wait a minute, now. No one ever said the move was barred from the match. The only stipulation was that you couldn’t use the full nelson. And you tried to use it…twice!” Haynes asked about Precious interfering in the match and said that was worse than him trying to use a barred move. Haynes said he wanted a rematch next week on LCW Showdown for the title and wanted Precious barred from ringside. Anderson said Haynes had a point about Precious interfering and said, “All right, here’s what I’m going to do. Next week on LCW Showdown you’re going to get your rematch and it’s going to be for the title and Precious will be barred from ringside, but you’re going to be barred again from using the full nelson. If you apply it even one time, you’ll not only be immediately disqualified, you’ll never get another shot at the title.” Haynes looked unsure for a moment, but said, “I’ll take it.” Haynes walked away as the show went to commercial.

In the back, LCW General Manager Ole Anderson approached Magnum TA and said, “Magnum, I’m not convinced. I’m not convinced that you’re ready to get back into the ring after that car accident a few weeks ago. The doctors have cleared you, but the decision ultimately rests with me. It’s on my head, it’s on my conscience, and it’s my job at risk if I let you go out there and get re-injured. There’s no doubt that you’re on track for big things here in Legends Championship Wrestling. You’re more focused than I’ve ever seen you before and I can’t allow you to risk that by getting in the ring tonight.” Magnum interrupted him and said, “What are you saying, Ole?” Anderson said, “I’m taking you out of the main event tonight. If you want to fight Paul Orndorff at LCW Uprising, you will not wrestle tonight. If you wrestle, I’m going to have no choice but to suspend you until and maybe even after LCW Uprising.” Magnum said Anderson couldn’t do that and Anderson said he could and he only had Magnum’s best interest at heart. Anderson said he would allow Magnum to name a replacement, but he wouldn’t be wrestling tonight. Anderson left the locker room and Magnum picked up his bag and threw it across the locker room.

In the back, LCW United States Champion Randy Savage complained to his brother, The Genius Lanny Poffo, about Poffo being banned from ringside, but said he was glad that traitor Sheamus O’Shaunessy was also banned from ringside and said he looked forward to shutting up Rowdy Roddy Piper tonight once and for all in a steel cage. Savage said Piper was another one of Hulk Hogan’s “little bitches” and Savage was going beat Piper in a steel cage and then beat “the biggest bitch of them all,” referring to Hulk Hogan. Poffo wished Savage luck as he left the locker room.

In the back, Sheamus O’Shaunessy wished Rowdy Roddy Piper as he left the locker room for his match with Randy Savage. Piper and Savage were shown on a split screen heading through the arena corridor on their way to the ring. Moments later, the cage was shown being lowered over the ring as the show went to commercial.

Rowdy Roddy Piper defeated LCW United States Champion Randy Savage in 10:19 by pinfall in a steel cage match after a piledriver on a steel chair to win the LCW United States Championship. During the match, as Piper was gaining the upper hand, The Genius Lanny Poffo ran to ringside. Piper put Savage in a sleeperhold and Poffo grabbed a steel chair and climbed halfway up the cage and threw it into the ring. Savage began to drop from the sleeperhold, but managed to grab the steel chair and hit Piper with it enough to get Piper to break the sleeperhold. Savage regained his senses and climbed to the top rope, but then looked up to the top of the cage. Savage started climbing to the top of the cage. Sheamus O’Shaunessy ran out and hit Poffo with the War Sword. Meanwhile, Savage had made his way to the top of the cage and had turned around and was standing on the corner of the cage, in position, seemingly for the flying elbow smash. O’Shaunessy started shaking the side of the cage that Savage was standing on and Savage lost his footing and fell from the top of the cage and down to the mat. Piper grabbed Savage and put him in position for a piledriver, but then saw the steel chair in the ring and dropped Savage. Piper went over to the chair, picked it up, and put it in position in the center of the ring. Piper then grabbed Savage, dragged him to the center of the ring, and hit him with the piledriver on the steel chair and then covered him for the pinfall and the win. After the match, O’Shaunessy came into the ring through the steel cage door and celebrated with Piper. Through the door, Poffo reached for an unconscious Savage, but couldn’t reach him. Just as Poffo was getting close to Savage, O’Shaunessy grabbed Savage and hit him with the FRH (Fiery Right Hand). Piper then threw Savage towards the door, and Savage fell out of the door and into his brother and the two men stumbled to the arena floor. Poffo helped Savage to his feet and away from ringside as Piper and O’Shaunessy continued to celebrate with the crowd.

In the back, Magnum TA approached LCW Television Champion Manny Fernandez and asked Fernandez to take his place in the main event match tonight. Fernandez accepted the offer. Magnum said, “Manny, if you get your hands on Paul Orndorff tonight…” Manny interrupted Magnum and said, “If I get my hands on Paul Orndorff tonight, I’m going to wreck him like he tried to wreck your car, daddy.” The two men shook hands and Magnum walked away.

LCW Heritage Champion Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin (with Precious) defeated Iceman King Parsons in 5:10 by submission with the full nelson. After the match, LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and said, “Garvin, you made your point at LCW Torment two weeks ago when you beat Billy Jack Haynes with his own hold, with the full nelson. But now, now you’re just being an ass! So, when you face Billy Jack Haynes next week on LCW Showdown, I’m changing the stipulation a bit. Instead of barring Billy Jack Haynes from the full nelson again, I’m going to allow him to use the full nelson! Actually, I’m going to demand that he use the full nelson! For that matter, I’m going to demand that you use the full nelson as well since you seem to like it so much. Because to win the match next week on LCW Showdown, the winner must submit or knockout his opponent with the full nelson in a full nelson match!” Garvin threw a fit in the ring as Precious tried to calm him down. On the other side of the ring, Billy Jack Haynes jumped over the security guard rail and attacked Garvin from behind. Haynes tried to lock Garvin in the full nelson, but Garvin slipped out and ran from ringside with Precious.

In the back, LCW General Manager Ole Anderson approached The Genius Lanny Poffo and said, “You want to get involved in your brother’s match with Rowdy Roddy Piper? You want to go to ringside, you want to get involved? You’re apparently looking for some action so tonight, you’re going to the ring again and you’re going to get into the ring because you’re going to wrestle…” Ken Patera was walking by and Anderson grabbed Patera by the arm and said, “…Ken Patera!” Anderson walked away as Poffo yelled to him as he walked away, “Wait a minute, Ole. This isn’t right!” Poffo looked at Patera who just chuckled at Poffo. Poffo said to Patera, “This isn’t right, man,” and then stormed off.

LCW United States Tag Team Champions The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express defeated The Powers of Pain (with Paul Jones) in 2:53 by disqualification after Abdullah the Butcher and Kamala, with Kevin Sullivan, interfered and attacked Morton and Gibson. Kamala splashed both Morton and Gibson before leaving ringside with Abdullah and Sullivan.

LCW World Tag Team Champions The Skyscrapers defeated One Man Gang (with Skandor Akbar) and King Kong Bundy in 5:03 by pinfall when Sid Vicious pinned Gang after Spivey blasted Gang with a steel chair while the referee was distracted by Akbar at ringside. During the match, Sid Vicious attempted to powerbomb Gang, but was unsuccessful because he couldn’t lift Gang. Moments later, Spivey tried to powerbomb Bundy, but couldn’t lift Bundy and Gang attacked Spivey from behind breaking the powerbomb attempt. After the match, Demolition came out and challenged The Skyscrapers saying they had brought down the Skyscrapers before and, given the chance, they could do it again. The Skyscrapers accepted the challenge, but the Hart Foundation came out and challenged The Skyscrapers saying they were back and wanted a shot at the titles. Skandor Akbar said without a steel chair, the Skyscrapers wouldn’t have been able to beat the Skyscrapers. LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and announced a triple threat match between Demolition, One Man Gang and King Kong Bundy, and the Hart Foundation to determine the number one contenders for the LCW World Tag Team Championships at the LCW Uprising pay-per-view on May 25th.

The Rock (with Rocky Johnson) defeated Butch Reed (with Tony Atlas and Slick) in 7:34 by disqualification after Slick interfered and hit Rock with his cane after Rock hit Reed with the Rock Bottom and had him covered for the pin. After the match, Atlas tried to attack Rock, but Johnson dropkicked Atlas out of the ring. Rock grabbed Slick and threw him to his father and Johnson dropkicked Slick. The Rock then hit Slick with the People’s Elbow before picking him up and throwing him out of the ring and onto the floor where Reed and Atlas were. Reed, Atlas, and Slick dragged themselves back to the locker room.

In the back, Kevin Sullivan was watching the new Kayfabe Commentaries DVD, "Kevin Sullivan and the End of WCW" when a courier arrived. Sullivan handed the man a copy of the DVD and said, "I want you to make sure that this gets to Superstar Billy Graham personally. Last month, at LCW Breaking Point, Luna Vachon ran him down with her car and he's been recovering. I want him to have this to enjoy during his time at home: a copy of my new shoot interview DVD, 'Kevin Sullivan and the End of WCW. I tried to save WCW, but no one wanted to listen to me. But when Superstar Billy Graham comes back, I'm not going to try and save him. No, when Superstar Billy Graham comes back, I'm going to be personally responsible for his end. Luna Vachon put him on the shelf, but I'm going to put him in the ground!"

Ken Patera defeated The Genius Lanny Poffo in 4:19 by pinfall after a running powerslam. LCW General Manager came out and announced that, as a result of the victory over Poffo, Patera is the number one contender for the LCW United States Championship. Former LCW United States Champion Randy Savage, who lost the title earlier in the evening, came out and said that decision was the wrong decision and said that he had a rematch clause in his contract. Anderson said he didn’t care and that Patera was the number one contender. Savage said, “Not until he beats me!” Anderson said next week on LCW Showdown, Patera would face Savage and the winner would be the number one contender for the LCW United States Championship.

Nikita Koloff and Paul Orndorff defeated LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin and Manny Fernandez (with Magnum TA) in 10:40 by disqualification after Magnum TA interfered and attacked Paul Orndorff. After the match, as Magnum continued punching at Orndorff, Austin, upset that Magnum interfered in the match, grabbed Magnum and pulled him off of Orndorff. Magnum pushed Austin away and went back to attacking Magnum. Austin then grabbed Magnum again, pulling him off of Magnum. However, this time, Magnum didn’t push Austin away. Instead, the two men stood face to face and exchanged words about Magnum interfering in the match as Manny Fernandez tried to calm them down. Magnum was overheard saying, “I told you, this has nothing to do with you.” Austin said Magnum made it about him when he interfered in his match…twice! Orndorff regained his senses and went to charge at Magnum from behind, but Austin pushed Magnum out of the way and threw Orndorff out of the ring. Magnum charged at Austin and the two men stood face to face again. Fernandez continued to try and calm them down, but this time the fists stared to fly as the two men started to brawl with each other. Fernandez pulled Magnum away and kept the two men apart. Meanwhile, Orndorff was leaving ringside and Magnum jumped out of the ring and chased Orndorff up the entrance ramp and to the back. Suddenly, as Austin turned around, from out of nowhere Nikita Koloff hit Austin with the Russian Sickle clothesline and Fernandez chased Koloff out of the ring and to the security barricade as Koloff jumped over the barricade and through the crowd. Fernandez helped Austin to his feet and a dazed and confused Austin hit Fernandez with the Stone Cold Stunner and left ringside as the show went off the air.
