LCW Showdown Television Results 04.16.08
From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to a special, three-hour edition of LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone reminded everyone that tonight would feature a twenty-man battle royal with the last four men in the ring then competing in a one-night, mini-tournament to determine the number one contender for the LCW International Championship at the LCW Torment pay-per-view this Sunday only on LCWTorment.com. Schiavone also announced that LCW Universal Stone Cold Steve Austin would defend his title, only four nights away from LCW Torment this Sunday, against the number one contender Stan Hansen and Nikita Koloff. Schiavone asked, “Could this be the end of Stone Cold Steve Austin’s reign as champion? Could Hansen be facing Koloff at LCW Torment with Koloff as the champion, or vice versa? Could Austin walk into LCW Torment as the challenger for the championship? Tonight could change the main event of LCW Torment in ways we could never imagine. With that, let’s go to ringside and ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta!”
Big Van Vader (with Harley Race), Terry Funk, Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll), and Jesse Ventura were the last four men in 12:17 in a twenty-man battle royal to determine the four participants in a one-night, mini-tournament to determine the number one contender for the LCW International Championship at the LCW Torment pay-per-view this Sunday. Before the match, LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams and Cowboy Bill Watts joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth to provide guest color commentary. - Honky Tonk Man was eliminated by Ron Garvin at 7:10 when Garvin hit Honky Tonk Man with a hard right hand that sent Honky Tonk Man over the top rope.

With five men left in the ring, after Funk eliminated himself and Tatum, there was some confusion as to who the last four men in the ring were. After reviewing the footage, Tatum clearly landed first. Funk got back in the ring and squared off with the other three winners of the battle royal: Big Van Vader, Tully Blanchard, and Jesse Ventura. Meanwhile, outside the ring, Garvin was yelling at Missy Hyatt for interfering in the match. After Tatum regained his senses, he attacked Garvin from behind, attacking him outside the ring as Vader, Funk, Blanchard, and Ventura all brawled with each other inside the ring. Tatum blasted Garvin with a steel chair before leaving ringside with Missy Hyatt. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Funk, Vader, Blanchard, and Ventura continued brawling with each other as the show went to commercial.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone talked about a video that was delivered to the production truck earlier in the afternoon by the LCW United States Champion Randy Savage. Schiavone said that after reviewing the footage on the tape, the producers of LCW Showdown had decided not to show the footage. Savage appeared with his bodyguard Sheamus O’Shaunessy in the broadcast booth and demands that the truck show the video. Schaivone said that the producers in the truck were refusing to show the footage. Savage sent O’Shaunessy to the production truck and when he got there he threatened the producers and they showed the footage. The video, which played on the LegendsTron, featured Savage, holding a camcorder, stalking Linda Hogan and Brooke Hogan as they shopped in a mall. Savage called Linda the love of Hogan’s life and talking about how precious Brooke must be to Hogan. The footage then changed to a beach scene with Savage again holding the camera and Sheamus O’Shaunessy approached Nick Hogan on the beach for an autograph. Savage said that O’Shaunessy could have ended Nick Hogan’s legal problems by eliminating Nick right there on the beach. The video ended and, from the broadcast booth, Savage said, “Hogan, don’t think I’ve forgotten about you. Piper is just like Diamond Dallas Page. He’s just a momentary distraction. When I’m done with him this Sunday at the LCW Torment pay-per-view, I want you in the ring so I can prove once and for all and decisively who the best in this business really is.” Savage slammed down the microphone and picked up a headset and sat beside Schiavone.
In the back, Rowdy Roddy Piper was shown making his way through the arena corridor to face The Genius Lanny Poffo. Moments later, Poffo was shown meeting up with O’Shaunessy who was coming back into the arena after invading the production truck. Together, they made their way through the back.

Rowdy Roddy Piper defeated The Genius Lanny Poffo (with Sheamus O’Shaunessy) in 5:31 by pinfall after O’Shaunessy hit Poffo with the War Sword in a match to earn a shot at the LCW United States Championship at the LCW Torment pay-per-view. During the match, O’Shaunessy accidentally tripped Poffo from ringside and Poffo rolled out of the ring and berated O’Shaunessy. Piper grabbed Poffo by the hair and put the sleeperhold on him while Poffo was on the ring apron with the ropes between them. Poffo dropped to the floor, and Piper was dropped on the top rope and as he fell backwards, he bumped into the referee. With the referee slightly dazed, Poffo got back in the ring and demanded that O’Shaunessy get in the ring and hit Piper with the War Sword. Poffo was going to throw Piper into the War Sword, but Piper was able to reverse it and sent Poffo into the War Sword instead. O’Shaunessy, who didn’t seem to disappointed by his mistake, left the ring as Piper pinned Poffo for the win. Savage left the broadcast booth and yelled at O’Shaunessy as he made his way past the broadcast booth and to the back.

In the back, LCW United States Champion Randy Savage followed Sheamus O’Shaunessy and yelled at him for costing The Genius Lanny Poffo the match moments earlier. O’Shaunessy said he didn’t want to hear it and Savage said he was going to hear Savage loud and clear. Savage then slapped O’Shaunessy and O’Shaunessy stopped dead in his tracks and stared at Savage, who changed his tune and started slowly backing away. O’Shaunessy turned away and was going to walk away, but Savage took his title belt and blasted O’Shaunessy on the back of the head, dropping him to his knees. Savage then attacked O’Shaunessy and Lanny Poffo appeared and the two men kicked O’Shaunessy until Piper appeared with a steel chair and chased Savage and Poffo away.
Ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta introduced Billy Jack Haynes who came out for the Full Nelson Challenge with LCW Heritage Champion Gorgeous Jimmy Garvin who came out with his valet Precious. Garvin reminded Haynes that if he could break the full nelson, Haynes couldn’t use the full nelson in their match at the LCW Torment pay-per-view. Haynes reminded Garvin that if he couldn’t break the full nelson, Precious would be banned from ringside during their match. Both men agreed to the stipulations and a referee got into the ring. Garvin got into position to allow Haynes to put him in the full nelson. Garvin continued to stall and wouldn’t let Haynes put the full nelson on him. After more stalling, Garvin finally let Haynes lock the full nelson on him. The referee checked that the full nelson was locked and Haynes fingers were laced and, with Garvin fully locked in the full nelson, Garvin tried to escape. Garvin struggled to escape for a moment until it was clear that he wasn’t going to escape. Precious hit Haynes with a low blow and Haynes released the full nelson. Haynes then grabbed Precious and put her in the full nelson. Precious screamed as Haynes tossed her like a rag doll. Garvin grabbed a steel chair and blasted Haynes on the back, causing him to release Precious and knocking him out of the ring. Garvin checked on the fallen Precious as, from the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone said, “Precious is hurt. She’s seriously hurt.” Security officials came out to keep Haynes out of the ring as medical officials ran in to check on Precious. Garvin grabbed a microphone and said he broke the full nelson. Haynes said he didn’t and Garvin asked for the footage to be shown on the LegendsTron. Garvin said he was about to break the full nelson when Precious interfered. LCW General Manager Ole Anderson appeared on the entrance ramp and announced that technically, regardless of how it happened, Garvin did break the full nelson and Billy Jack Haynes would be barred from using the full nelson in his match with Garvin at the LCW Torment pay-per-view this Sunday. Haynes tried to rush into the ring, but security officials held him back as medical officials and Precious continued to check on Precious in the ring.

After the match, Orndorff was joined on the entrance ramp by Muraco and Fuji. Orndorff had a microphone and said he didn’t care who paid his bail and allowed him to be released from jail and he didn’t care. Orndorff said the only thing he cared about was kicking Manny Fernandez’s ass. Orndorff said he didn’t even care about winning the LCW Television Championship because he wanted to punish Fernandez and making him suffer for getting involved in his business and he was going to do that this Sunday at the LCW Torment pay-per-view. Orndorff threw down the microphone and left with Muraco and Fuji.

We’re received a lot of emails, letters, and phone calls from fans about the possibility of Ric Flair returning to Legends Championship Wrestling. Not only because he’s a former LCW Universal Champion, but as the very definition of legend, no one more than Ric Flair deserves to be in Legends Championship Wrestling and he will always be welcome in LCW. However, at the moment, due to his commitments to and continued involvement with World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., there are no plans to bring Ric Flair into Legends Championship Wrestling. We wish Ric all the best in his future endeavors and his future involvement with World Wrestling Entertainment and we’d like him to know that he will always have a home in Legends Championship Wrestling.”
