LCW Showdown Television Results 01.16.08

LCW Showdown Television Results (January 16, 2008) live from the Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, SC.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena.

Mean Gene Okerlund was in the ring and introduced his guest: the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship and the man who will face LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday: Dr. Death Steve Williams, and his manager Cowboy Bill Watts. Williams and Watts came out and joined Okerlund in the ring. Okerlund asked Watts why Williams deserved to be the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Watts pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and read Williams' accomplishments including his reigns as "All-Japan Pro Wrestling Triple Crown Champion, eight-time All-Japan Unified World Tag Team Champion, IWA Tag Team Champion, NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion, Mid-South Tag Team Champion, UWF Heavyweight Champion, UWF Tag Team Champion, USWA Southern Heavyweight Champion, UWF Television Champion, UWF World Heavyweight Champion, NWA United States Tag Team Champion, NWA World Tag Team Champion, WCW World Tag Team Champion, LCW United States Champion, LCW Television Champion, and this Sunday, you can add LCW Universal Champion to the long list of accomplishments." Okerlund tried to ask Williams what he thought his chances were against Austin, but Watts grabbed the microphone and said, "Dr. Death doesn't talk because he doesn't need to, not because he can't or doesn't want to, but because he doesn't need to. You see, I have Dr. Death focused on a singular path, a path of death and destruction." Watts said Williams and Austin were both on a death march, but each with different results. Watts said, "You see, Mean Gene, Dr. Death's death march has led to the end of many, many others. Austin's death march will inevitably lead to his own end because his death march leads directly to Dr. Death Steve Williams." Watts said he would be in Nick Bockwinkel's corner tonight when he faces LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. Watts said Bockwinkel knows that tonight isn't about his own selfish desires for gold, but instead to lead the lamb to the slaughter. Watts warned Austin that "the slaughter begins tonight!" Watts and Williams left the ring and made their way up the entrance ramp.

Jesse Ventura defeated LCW Heritage Champion Butch Reed (with Slick) in 9:42 by pinfall with a schoolboy rollup to win the LCW Heritage Championship. During the match, Iceman King Parsons and Koko B. Ware came out to interfere, but ended up arguing with each other at ringside about Dark Journey who tried, to no avail, to separate the two men. Parsons and Ware arguing distracted Reed and allowing Ventura to pin Reed with the schoolboy rollup. After the match, Slick got in the ring and said that he had had enough of their arguing. Slick said at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view, Iceman King Parsons would face Koko B. Ware and the loser would be kicked out of the Brothahood. Dark Journey didn't look happy and Slick said, "Don't be sad, baby girl because you're going to be the guest referee!" Slick then walked out with Butch Reed as Ware and Parsons started arguing again and pushing each other as Dark Journey tried to keep them apart.

In the back, LCW United States Champion Manny Fernandez congratulated the new LCW Heritage Champion Jesse Ventura and asked him if he was going to defend the title at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday and Ventura said, "You know me, Manny. I'm a fighting champion and I'll welcome anyone who wants to challenge me for the title this Sunday at LCW Ascension." Fernandez and Ventura walked away together to continue celebrating the victory.

At ringside, Sean Mooney interviewed Michael "Titan" O'Hearn from NBC's American Gladiators and they talked about co-host Hulk Hogan. Randy Savage appeared and grabbed the microphone from Mooney, pushed him over, and turned his attention to O'Hearn after Mooney left ringside. Savage said, "What do we have here? Is it really Titan from American Gladiators? It's Michael O'Hearn, right? Or, should I say Titan? Say, Titan, let me ask you, I know Hulk Hogan is scared to step into the ring with me again, but tell me, what's he saying about me? I know Hulk Hogan is talking about me, talking about how he's scared of me, how he's worried I'm going to come after him? What's he said to you about me, the Macho Man." O'Hearn said, "Actually, Macho Man, Hulk Hogan hasn't said much about you…aside from the fact that he thinks you're an insignificant little bitch!" Savage got in Titan's face for a moment as if he was going to attack O'Hearn, but Savage backed off and said, "Speaking of insignificant bitches…you're married to Scott Steiner's former valet in WCW Midajah, aren't you?" O'Hearn reached out to grab Savage, but he moved back and said, "I want you to take a little message back to Hulk Hogan and the rest of the American Gladiators." Savage then slapped O'Hearn across the face and the two men began to brawl with the security barricade between them. Security came out and tried to separate the two men and eventually pulled O'Hearn back as they escorted Savage back up the entrance ramp.

Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson defeated The Fantastics in 3:10 by pinfall when Tony Atlas pinned Bobby Fulton after the gorilla press slam. After the match, as Atlas and Johnson celebrated in the ring, from the broadcast booth Tony Schiavone said, "Could Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson actually be making it work? Could they be back on the same page as a team?"

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed footage from last week's LCW Showdown which featured LCW International Champion Don Muraco attacking Paul Orndorff and slamming his head in the mini-cage that was to house Mr. Fuji during Orndorff's title match with Muraco at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. LCW General Manager Ole Anderson joined Schiavone and Zbyszko in the broadcast booth and announced that Paul Orndorff had suffered a Grade III concussion and would be unable to compete at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Anderson announced that Magnum TA would replace Orndorff and face LCW International Champion Don Muraco and Mr. Fuji would still be locked in the mini-cage at ringside to insure that he doesn't interfere in the match. Anderson wished Orndorff a speedy recovery and wished Magnum luck at LCW Ascension.

LCW Women's Champion Luna Vachon came out with Kevin Sullivan and Lady Amazon. Amazon was on the leash and being led to the ring by Kevin Sullivan. From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone noted that Amazon had seemingly been brainwashed or hypnotized by Sullivan and seemed heavily drugged since being kidnapped by last month at the LCW Endgame pay-per-view. After getting in the ring, LCW Women's Champion Luna Vachon issued an open challenge to any woman in the back who wanted to get in the ring with her. Former LCW Women's Champion Rockin' Robin's music began to play and she came out to face Luna Vachon.

LCW Women's Champion Luna Vachon (with Kevin Sullivan and Lady Amazon) defeated Rockin' Robin in 3:13 by pinfall after the Luna Bomb after Kevin Sullivan yelled at Lady Amazon to trip Robin. Amazon tripped Robin which allowed Vachon to attack Robin and hit her with the Luna Bomb for the pinfall and the win. After the match, LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and announced that at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday, LCW Women's Champion Luna Vachon would defend her title against…Lady Amazon! Amazon seemed to smile for a moment, but quickly returned to her catatonic, drugged looking state before being pulled out of the ring by Sullivan and Vachon, who yelled at Amazon as they pulled her up the entrance ramp and to the back.

Sam Houston and Tom Zenk defeated Kevin Sullivan and LCW United States Champion Tully Blanchard (with Baby Doll) in 4:27 by pinfall when Tom Zenk pinned Tully Blanchard with a small package rollup as Houston and Sullivan brawled up the entrance ramp. During the match, Baby Doll pushed Sunshine into her chair, sending her tumbling into her chair and knocking over the chair behind her and the fans behind and around her as they tried to catch her. After Baby Doll turned her attention back to the ring, Sunshine grabbed from behind by the hair, but Doll grabbed her and pulled her over the barricade and bodyslammed her onto the arena floor. Baby Doll then kicked Sunshine in the head with her boot only seconds after Zenk pinned Blanchard. Zenk chased Baby Doll from ringside and up the entrance ramp before turning around and heading back to ringside to check on Sunshine. Zenk called for medics who came to ringside to check on Sunshine as Blanchard made his way up the entrance ramp and to the entrance stage where Baby Doll was standing. As the medics placed Sunshine on a stretcher, LCW General Manager Ole Anderson came out and announced that Sam Houston would face Kevin Sullivan at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Anderson then announced that LCW United States Champion Tully Blanchard would defend his title against Tom Zenk at the pay-per-view this Sunday as well.

Magnum TA defeated Outlaw Ron Bass (with James J. Dillon) in 5:12 by pinfall after the belly-to-belly suplex. After the match, the Orient Express, referred to by Tony Schiavone from the broadcast booth as "Fuji's hired assassins", interfered and attacked Magnum, but Magnum managed to fight back and clotheslined them both over the top rope and out of the ring, but when he turned around, LCW International Champion Don Muraco had come into the ring and knocked him out with the title belt. Muraco then stood over the fallen Magnum with the title raised about his head for a moment before leaving with Fuji and the Orient Express.

In the back, the new LCW Heritage Champion Jesse Ventura was walking through the arena corridor and stopped to talk with a production staff member about his victory over Butch Reed to win the LCW Heritage Championship tonight when Big Van Vader appeared out of nowhere, with his manager Harley Race, and attacked Ventura, hitting him with several stiff right hands before throwing him into a steel door and knocking him out. Race said, "Enjoy the title while you've got it, because Jesse Ventura, this Sunday at LCW Ascension, we want the first title shot. This Sunday will be Vader Time and this Sunday this title will belong to Big Van Vader." Race dropped the title belt and walked away with Vader.

In the back, Butch Reed, with his manager Slick, approached LCW General Manager Ole Anderson, and said they wanted a rematch with LCW Heritage Champion Jesse Ventura at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Anderson informed them that Big Van Vader had already taken that spot and he would get a title shot against Ventura at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view this Sunday. Reed and Slick were irate, but Anderson said, "If you'll let me finish, I think I can make it up to you. How about this: how about this Sunday, at the LCW Ascension pay-per-view, you and LCW Television Champion Manny Fernandez go one-on-one for the LCW Television Championship?" At first Reed was against it and said he wanted his title back, but Slick calmed him down and said it might actually be better to face Manny Fernandez. Slick agreed as Reed continued to protest. Slick said he would explain his reasoning to Reed later and officially agreed to the match. Anderson shook Slick's hand and Slick and Reed walked away to discuss the match.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko previewed the complete card for this Sunday's LCW Ascension pay-per-view only on LCWAscension.com as Puddle of Mudd's "Psycho," the official theme song for the LCW Ascension pay-per-view, played in the background:

Graham said, "Answer my challenge at Ascension, you bring the bullrope and we'll make it a bullrope match." LCW General Manager Ole Anderson appeared and said, "I like the sound of that and I hope Stan Hansen accepts your challenge because I'd love to see a gold old fashioned bullrope match, but more importantly, bullrope match or not, I'll be watching because the winner of that match will be the number one contender for the LCW International Championship!" Graham said he really liked the sound of that and Anderson wished him luck before walking away.
