LCW Showdown Television Results 08.30.06
LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and The Ultimate Warrior arrived in the parking lot and were immediately surrounded by security officials. As they were walking through the arena heading to ringside, Magnum TA, in street clothes and with bandages on his forehead to cover the stitches from last Sunday's Elimination Chamber match, tried to attack them, but security quickly stopped him. Magnum yelled, "You screwed me, Calaway," as security dragged him away. Calaway said, "No, I saved you, Magnum." Cameras followed LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and The Ultimate Warrior into the arena where they were immediately booed out of the arena. Calaway and Warrior went to the ring where explained that he simply did what was best for the business and more importantly what was better for the health and future career of Magnum TA. He said The Ultimate Warrior was killing Magnum and would have killed Magnum if he hadn't stepped in an awarded the match to Warrior. Calaway announced that at LCW Survival Project, LCW Universal Champion Nikita Koloff would defend his title against The Ultimate Warrior. LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel then came out and said Nikita Koloff might not be defending the title because tonight there would be a six-man battle royal featuring the six men, not including the seventh man, The Ultimate Warrior, in the Elimination Chamber match last Sunday for a title shot against LCW Universal Champion Nikita Koloff next week on Showdown. He announced that the battle royal would include Dusty Rhodes, Stan Hansen, Paul Orndorff, Ricky Steamboat, Sgt. Slaughter, and Magnum TA.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Ted DiBiase, with Virgil, about attacking Diamond Dallas Page and pushing him down a stairwell in a wheelchair at LCW Caged Heat last Sunday. DiBiase said he was going to make an impact at Caged Heat and he did. Mooney said Page had a special message for DiBiase and was handed him a portable DVD player. In the message, Page said that DiBiase made an impact all right, but he didn't make a bang. Page leaned into the camera and said, "I'm hurt. I'm sore. But the amount of pain I'm going to make you feel is nothing compared to the pain I'm in right now. I'm going to take this pain, hold onto it and release with the most explosive Diamond Cutter the world has ever seen. I'm going to make sure you feel the BANG!" DiBiase looked at Mooney and said, "You know what, talk is cheap. Page felt the bang when I pushed him down that stairwell. Maybe next time I need to push him down an elevator shaft. When the time comes, Page I'm going to make you feel the bang when I bankrupt your career."
LCW Heritage Champion Greg Valentine (with Jimmy Hart) defeated Bob Backlund in 7:10 by pinfall when Valentine pinned Backlund with a small package rollup after hitting him with the title belt.
In the back, Big Van Vader and Harley Race confronted LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel and demanded to be included in the battle royal for the title shot. Bockwinkel pointed out that Vader clearly lost to Koloff last Sunday in a Hell in a Cell steel cage match. Race said Vader deserved another shot, one on one, no stipulations involved. Bockwinkel agreed to allow Big Van Vader into the battle royal, but said even if won, he'd have to defeat Koloff in a non-title match in two weeks before he'd grant him a title shot. Race was upset, but Bockwinkel said there was no other option.
Kevin Von Erich defeated Baron Von Raschke in 5:11 by submission with the Claw. After the match, LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel came out and congratulated Kevin Von Erich and announced as a result of the victory he was the new number one contender for the LCW Heritage Championship.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed LCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel who explained the rules of the Survival Project: "There will be 50 legends competing in a gauntlet tournament. For instance, Wrestler Number One will wrestle Wrestler Number Two and the winner of that match will face Wrestler Number Three, Wrestler Number Four, and so on until he's eliminated either by pinfall, disqualification, or countout. At the end of the night, the man with the most single eliminations in the night will be the number one contender for the second most prestigious title in LCW, the International Championship and the last man standing at the end of the night will be the number one contender for the most prestigious title in LCW, the Universal Championship. Meaning, even if someone enters at number 40 and manages to eliminate 9 men, but loses to number 50, he'll be the number one contender for the LCW International Championship, but not the LCW Universal Championship. The luck of the draw has never been more important and the challenge has never been more daunting."
The Hart Foundation defeated LCW United States Tag Team Champions Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham in 10:14 by pinfall when Bret Hart pinned Mike Rotundo after the Hart Attack to win the LCW United States Tag Team Championships. After the match, Windham and Rotundo shook hands with and congratulated Hart and Neidhart.
In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed the new LCW United States Champions The Hart Foundation. Bret Hart said they were simply delivering on a promise. He said Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham gave them the title shot and they would return the favor anytime, anywhere. Suddenly, The Nasty Boys, with Missy Hyatt, attacked The Hart Foundation. Windham and Rotundo appeared with steel chairs and chased them away.
LCW Television Champion Bam Bam Bigelow (with Luna Vachon) defeated Bad News Brown in 6:12 by pinfall after the Greetings From Asbury Park. After the match, Cowboy Bill Watts came out and grabbed Luna Vachon outside the ring and kissed her before Bigelow ran him off.
In the back, LCW Television Champion Bam Bam Bigelow, with Luna Vachon, confronted Cowboy Bill Watts and was attacked by "Dr. Death" Steve Williams from behind with a steel chair. Watts slapped Vachon's ass as she and medial officials checked on the fallen Bigelow as security officials escorted Williams and Watts from the scene.
Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) won a seven-man battle royal in 19:22 which also included: Dusty Rhodes, Stan Hansen, Paul Orndorff, Ricky Steamboat, Sgt. Slaughter (with Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie), and Magnum TA, by last eliminating Paul Orndorff, to win a title shot next week on Showdown.
