LCW Showdown Television Results 09.09.09: The Return

LCW Showdown Television Results: The Return (September 9, 2009) live from the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, IA.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to the return edition of LCW Showdown after a two month hiatus as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko talked about Sid Vicious winning the LCW Survival Project 50-man gauntlet tournament last Sunday night (click here for complete results) to become the number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship and Bill Goldberg eliminating eleven Legends from the tournament to become the number one contender for the LCW International Championship.

LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway came out and introduced the men who helped him save Legends Championship Wrestling: Magnum TA, Nikita Koloff, Macho Man Randy Savage, Bret Hart, and LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin! One by one, all five men joined Calaway in the ring. Calaway said, “I know I’ve thanked you all in private personally since LCW Caged Heat last month, but I wanted to come out here and thank you in front of all of these people and I’m sure they’d all like to thank you as well.” The audience exploded with cheers and Calaway continued, “As a matter of fact, I’d like to thank you with some matches tonight. Well, matches for most of you. See, my goal was to try and help you guys get some gold, but one of you already has some gold. So, since I can’t help you out with a match against a champion, Steve, tonight, you have the night off.” The audience booed and Austin went to respond, but Calaway moved on to Bret Hart before he could. Calaway said that he was very impressed by Bret Hart’s performance last Sunday night at the LCW Survival Project pay-per-view. Calaway announced that tonight, Bret Hart would get a shot at the LCW Heritage Championship when he faces the winner of the LCW Survival Project, LCW Heritage Champion Sid Vicious! Calaway then moved on to Nikita Koloff and Magnum TA and said they would get a shot at the LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys. Calaway then announced that Macho Man Randy Savage would face LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page for the title. Calaway went to thank the audience and tell them to enjoy the show when Austin took the microphone from Calaway. Austin said he didn’t want to night off. Calaway said, “I’m sorry, you don’t want what?” Austin said, “I don’t want the night off. Find one of them dumb sons of bitches in the back and get his ass out here because I’m defending the title tonight.” Calaway said, “If that’s what you want, Steve, I’m sure we can find someone deserving of a title shot. As a matter of fact, I’ve got a great idea. This is a big night and it calls for a big main event. Sunday night, you had the night off. And so did someone else. Tonight, you’re going to face, one on one, in a champion vs. champion match…Dr. Death Steve Williams!” Austin acknowledged his approval of the decision with a smile as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Bret Hart defeated LCW Heritage Champion Sid Vicious in 12:42 by pinfall with a schoolboy rollup. Before the match, LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and joined Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko in the broadcast booth. During the match, Vicious challenged Austin to come down to ringside an Austin eventually left the broadcast booth to oblige him. Austin and Vicious started exchanging words and Hart snuck up behind Vicious and rolled him up for the pinfall and the win. As Hart left ringside with the title and Austin, Vicious seethed in the ring.

In the back, Eric Bischoff approached LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and tried to suck up to Calaway. Calaway asked him what he was doing there. Bischoff said, “I’m the General Manager.” Calaway laughed and said, “Oh, no, you’re not!” Bischoff asked Calaway what he meant and Calaway asked Bischoff if he was deaf or just stupid. Calaway said now that Ted Turner was no longer in power, Eric Bischoff had no power. “Just like always, without Turner’s money, power, and influence, you have nothing and you are nothing. Now, against my better judgment, the LCW Board of Directors has seen fit to name a new General Manager and I understand he’s on his way to the arena and will be here later tonight. So, the only piece of business I have left with you is to ask if you have a ticket?” Bischoff said he didn’t have a ticket and added that he didn’t need a ticket.” Calaway said, “Yeah, you kind of do. And since I’m guessing that you don’t, I’m going to ask these gentlemen to escort you out of the building.” Calaway ushered several security guards over who escorted Bischoff out of the building.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Marty Jannetty defeated Dirty Dutch Mantel in 4:45 by pinfall after the Rocker Dropper.

The lights in the arena went out and thunder rolled and lightning struck the LegendsTron before a video package aired featuring religious symbolism and a voiceover that said, “He will show you the truth, the light, the way. You have followed him before, believed in him, took him to great heights with your faith. The Veritas is coming…” The arena lights came back on as Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko wondered what that was about from the broadcast booth.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW United States Champion Diamond Dallas Page defeated Macho Man Randy Savage in 8:40 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Tito Santana about the Raging Bull Manny Fernandez being the masked man who had been attacking him over the past few months. Santana said Terry Funk had Fernandez summed up pretty accurately when he called him “the Raging Bully.” Santana said he had some experience with bulls and would put him down just like he has other bullies in the past. Suddenly, Manny Fernandez appeared and attacked Santana, throwing him into a wall and kicking him in the head before walking away.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez defeated Paul Orndorff in 6:53 by disqualification after Tito Santana interfered and attacked Fernandez. Santana managed to gain the upper hand and went to hit Fernandez with the flying forearm smash, but Fernandez managed to avoid the move and Fernandez hit Santana with the Flying Burrito before locking the Bull’s Brand triangle choke on him. Paul Orndorff got in the ring and pulled Fernandez off of Santana and knocked Fernandez out of the ring.

In the back, Sid Vicious approached LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway and said he wanted a match with LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin tonight! Calaway said he couldn’t do that because he had already announced the main event between Austin and LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams tonight. Vicious grabbed Calaway by the lapels and pushed him against a wall and said he wanted Austin tonight because he cost him the LCW Heritage Championship. Calaway suggested that Vicious release him if he didn’t want to lose his status as number one contender for the LCW Universal Championship. Vicious released Calaway and said, “Maybe I just need to take care of the situation myself.” Vicious walked away and Calaway looked on as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Nikita Koloff and Magnum TA defeated LCW World Tag Team Champions The Nasty Boys in 12:50 by disqualification after Bill Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page interfered and attacked Koloff and Magnum TA. Koloff and Magnum quickly fended Goldberg and Page off, knocking them both out of the ring. Magnum tried to get at Goldberg, but Koloff held him back. From the broadcast booth, Larry Zbyszko noted that Goldberg might want to focus on LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams instead of Magnum. Magnum grabbed a microphone and challenged Goldberg and Page to a tag team match next week on Showdown. Goldberg and Page accepted the challenge.

In the back, Sean Mooney interviewed Paul Roma and Jim Powers who said they were back together and the Young Stallions were headed straight to the top.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

The Young Stallions defeated the Rougeau Brothers (with Jimmy Hart) in 5:53 by pinfall when Paul Roma pinned Jacques Rougeau after Jim Powers hit Jacques with a missile dropkick. After the match, the Young Stallions celebrated as the show went to commercial.

In the back, a limousine arrived with the LCW logo on the license place. LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway appeared as the limousine arrived and opened the door before anyone could get out and said, “I’m glad you’re here. We’ve got a problem with Sid Vicious.”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Universal Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled LCW International Champion Dr. Death Steve Williams to a no contest in 16:11 by disqualification after Sid Vicious and Bill Goldberg interfered and attacked both men. Vicious hit Austin with a powerbomb and Goldberg hit Williams with a Spear. Vicious picked up the LCW Universal Championship and looked at it for a moment before LCW Chairman of the Board Christian Calaway’s entrance music started to play and Calaway came out. Calaway announced from the entrance stage that the new LCW General Manager had a special message for Sid Vicious. Harley Race came out and announced that as the new LCW General Manager he was making a match for next week on LCW Showdown. “Sid Vicious, in that ring next week on LCW Showdown, you will face one on one, Dr. Death Steve Williams!” Vicious dropped the title belt and smiled, but Race added, "Wipe that smile off your face, Sid, because it's going to be a non-title match!" Sid turned around and Austin hit him with the Stone Cold Stunner. Williams hit Goldberg with the Spear. Austin and Williams left ringside together as the show went to commercial.
