LCW Showdown Television Results 06.10.09

LCW Showdown Television Results (June 10, 2009) live from St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, FL.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko welcomed everyone to LCW Showdown as "Monsters" by Matchbook Romance, the LCW Showdown theme song, played in the background and as fireworks exploded all over the arena. Schiavone and Zbyszko talked about the contract expiration situation with the network and introduced LCW Founder Christian Calaway.

From his office at LCW Headquarters in Sacramento, CA, LCW Founder Christian Calaway appeared live via satellite on the LegendsTron. Calaway said that the future of Legends Championship Wrestling was indeed in doubt as their contract with the network was set to expire in three weeks. Calaway said that he had spoken with Ted Turner, the lawyers, and the network executives about keeping LCW Showdown on the air and, at this moment, due to his tenuous relationship with Turner he wasn’t sure if they were going to be able to come to an agreement in time to save the show. “You see, at the end of the day, there’s nothing I can do about the fact that Ted Turner owns the network on which you are watching this show.” The audience booed and Calaway continued, “So the stakes at LCW SuperClash this Sunday have to be raised. In my hands I hold a contract, the contract that Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg, Ted Turner and myself have already signed. However, there’s been an addendum added to the contract that says that if Bill Goldberg wins, Ted Turner can determine the fate of Legends Championship Wrestling on his network and if Austin wins, I get my company back and LCW Showdown remains on Turner’s network for the lifetime of either the network or Legends Championship Wrestling.” The audience cheered and started chanting LCW’s initials. Calaway thanked the fans for their support.

Manny Fernandez (with Terry Funk) defeated Stan Hansen (with Big Van Vader) and King Kong Bundy (with One Man Gang) in 7:31 by pinfall when he pinned Bundy after the Flying Burrito. After the match, Funk, Vader, and Gang got into the ring and the three men brawled as security officials came out to separate them.

In the back, Sir Oliver Humperdink was walking through the arena corridor when someone grabbed him from behind knocked him to the floor with a punch. The camera zoomed out and Paul Orndorff could be seen standing over Humperdink. Orndorff picked up Humperdink and dumped him into a wheelbarrow and started pushing him through the arena corridor as the show went to commercial.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Paul Orndorff came out with Sir Oliver Humperdink in a wheelbarrow and called out Kevin Sullivan and Luna Vachon. Humperdink started to regain consciousness and Orndorff said that he appreciated the LCW Board of Directors putting him and Sullivan in a steel cage, but he didn’t think that was going to be enough to stop Humperdink and Vachon from interfering and trying to save Sullivan from his inevitable fate. Sullivan told Orndorff if he let Humperdink go that he would get in the ring alone with Orndorff tonight! Orndorff agreed and said it sounded good to him and kicked over the wheelbarrow and Humperdink fell out of the wheelbarrow and rolled out of the ring. Sullivan started to walk down to ringside with Vachon. Vachon tended to Humperdink outside the ring to the side of Orndorff as Sullivan slowly started getting into the ring. Vachon made her way behind Orndorff and slipped into the ring as Sullivan continued getting into the ring. Vachon tried to hit Orndorff with a low blow, but Orndorff caught her and grabbed her by the hair, holding her at bay and challenging Sullivan to get into the ring. Sullivan backed off and demanded that Orndorff let her go. He put her, kicking and screaming, in position for the piledriver. Sullivan slid into the ring and Orndorff let Vachon go, throwing her to the mat and charging at Sullivan. Vachon slipped out of the ring as did Sullivan before Orndorff could get his hands on him. As Sullivan, Vachon, and Humperdink made a hasty exit, Orndorff picked up the microphone and said, “Go ahead, Sullivan. Run while you can, because in four days you’re going to be locked inside a 15-foot high steel cage with me. There will no interference from the fat clown or the biker bitch, there will be no escape, and there will be no survival for you, Kevin Sullivan. For too long you’ve been running around here like evil incarnate unleashed. Well this Sunday night, at LCW SuperClash, I’m putting evil back in the box and I’m making sure it never gets out again.”

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko called attention to Angelo Poffo, the 84 year old father of Macho Man Randy Savage and the Genius Lanny Poffo, who was sitting in the front row.

Tito Santana defeated the Genius Lanny Poffo in 6:17 by disqualification after Rick Martel interfered and attacked Santana. Before the match, Poffo gave his father a hug before he got into the ring. After the match, Martel locked Santana in the Boston Crab and refused to release the hold as Poffo kicked at Santana’s head. LCW United States Champion Macho Man Randy Savage ran out and pulled Martel off of Santana as Poffo jumped out of the ring. Martel ran from ringside as medical officials came out to check on Santana and help him from ringside. Savage called his brother into the ring and Poffo cautiously climbed into the ring. Savage said he didn’t know what had happened to his brother in the past several weeks, but he crossed the line last week when he hit him with his metal scroll. Poffo admitted that it might have been a mistake, but it wasn’t an accident. Poffo said since Savage won the LCW United States Championship he had stopped returning Poffo’s calls, he had stopped hanging out with him, and he had stopped traveing with him. Poffo said he missed his brother and he didn’t want to have to do it, but if taking the LCW United States Championship from him at LCW SuperClash this Sunday would bring them back together, than that’s what he would have to do. Savage got in Poffo’s face and the two men were about to come to blows when a voice came over the PA system that said, “Stop it! Stop this, right now!” The voice belonged to Angelo Poffo who had grabbed a microphone and was let past the security guard rail by a security official. Poffo got into the ring and said his sons needed to stop acting like a bunch of babies and start acting like men. He said he was so proud for the many months that they worked together, as a team, conquering the legends in Legends Championship Wrestling. He said he was never prouder than when he saw his son Lanny Poffo helping his brother reach for the “brass ring”, the LCW Universal Championship. Poffo grabbed the microphone from his father and said, “That’s the problem, old man. You’ve always been so proud of him, you’ve always been so supportive of him. It’s always been about the Macho Man Randy Savage. Well, what about me, Dad? What about me? I’m actually a Poffo. He was so ashamed of his name, so ashamed of you, that he had to change his name, he had to become someone else. But I was proud of you, I was proud of my family and I was proud of my name. And what did I ever get for it? What did it ever get me? Nothing!” Poffo turned to leave, but his father grabbed his arm. Poffo turned around and pushed his father to the mat. In the instant that he had realized what he had done, Poffo leapt from the ring as Savage checked on his fallen father. Poffo, upset with what he had done, stormed from ringside as Savage called for medical officials to help his father from ringside.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Television Champion Wildfire Tommy Rich and Missy Hyatt defeated LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard and Baby Doll in a 7:47 in a mixed tag team match when Rich pinned Blanchard after Hyatt hit Blanchard with a low blow. After the match, Baby Doll went after Missy Hyatt and the two women brawled and even hit their own charges as they tried to separate them. Eric Bischoff came out and said, “That’s it! That’s enough! Stop it, damn it! Control them, damn it!” Blanchard and Rich were finally able to separate the two women and Bischoff got in the ring. Bischoff said that LCW Chairman of the Board Ted Turner sent him to ringside to restore order and to ensure order between the two women. Bischoff said, “So here’s what we’re going to do. Starting tonight and lasting for the next four days, until the end of the unification match at LCW SuperClash between LCW Television Champion Wildfire Tommy Rich and LCW International Champion Tully Blanchard, Missy Hyatt and Baby Doll must keep their hands off of each other. If you don’t Ted Turner has authorized me to inform you that both Rich and Blanchard will be stripped of their titles and the titles will be declared vacant!” Bischoff left ringside as both Blanchard and Rich looked at each other for a moment as Hyatt and Baby Doll exchanged words from across the ring. Blanchard grabbed Baby Doll by the arm and put her in the corner and got in her face and yelled at her and held the belt in front of her and asked her if she knew how important the title was as Rich quickly dragged Hyatt from ringside.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Diamond Dallas Page (with Eric Bischoff) defeated Don Muraco in 5:18 by pinfall after the Diamond Cutter. After the match, Bischoff came into the ring with Page’s crown, robe, and scepter. Dr. Death Steve Williams came out and went to hit Page with a spear, but Page threw Bischoff in front of him and Williams hit Bischoff with the spear as Page left ringside.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Heritage Champion Nikita Koloff and Ken Patera defeated the Bolsheviks (with General Skandor Akbar and Sheik Adnan Al-Kassie) in 8:24 by pinfall when Koloff pinned Zhukov after the Russian Sickle clothesline. After the match, Koloff and Patera celebrated as they left ringside. Meanwhile, in the ring, Akbar and Al-Kassie blamed Zhukov for the loss, his second in as many weeks. Zhukov started yelling back at Akbar and Al-Kassie. Volkoff pushed Zhukov away and Akbar and Al-Kassie walked away without Zhukov.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Jim Neidhart defeated Jim Powers in 1:09 by pinfall after the Anvil Flattener running powerslam. After the match, Neidhart locked the Sharpshooter on Powers and refused to release the hold. Security officials came out, but they couldn’t pull Neidhart off of Powers. The Dynamite Kid came out, on crutches again after being attacked and reinsured two weeks ago, and hit Neidhart across the back with a crutch, forcing Neidhart to release the hold. Neidhart quickly got back to his feet, shaking off the crutch shot. Neidhart went to attack Dynamite, but he raised his other crutch and was ready to hit Neidhart with it, but Neidhart backed off and left the ring.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

Big Van Vader (with Stan Hansen) defeated Terry Funk (with Manny Fernandez) and One Man Gang (with King Kong Bundy) in 6:35 by pinfall when he pinned Funk after the Vader Bomb.

From the broadcast booth, Tony Schiavone and Larry Zbyszko reviewed the complete card for this Sunday’s LCW SuperClash 2009 pay-per-view:

- LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA vs. the Nature Boy Ric Flair.

{COMMERCIAL BREAK}

LCW Universal Champion Magnum TA defeated Barry Windham (with JJ Dillon) in 11:55 by pinfall after the belly-to-belly suplex. After the match, Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard came out and attacked Magnum, but Magnum managed to fend them off and hit Blanchard with a belly-to-belly suplex. When Magnum tried to hit Flair with the belly-to-belly suplex, Flair managed to escape and rolled out of the ring, exiting up the ramp with Blanchard and Windham.

In the parking lot, Stone Cold Steve Austin was in his black pickup truck and trying to leave the arena when Bill Goldberg turned the corner in his Hummer. Goldberg and Austin revved their engines. Goldberg sped toward Austin and Austin sped toward Goldberg, but before they collided, Goldberg swerved his car to avoid Austin, lost control of the vehicle and drove it into the parking lot wall. With severe front end damage, damage to the parking lot wall, and smoke coming from the front of the Hummer, security and medical officials ran to the scene. They found that Goldberg wasn’t moving and removed him from the vehicle before loading him onto a stretcher. As he was being loaded into the ambulance, from the broadcast booth, Schiavone questioned whether Goldberg would be able to wrestle Austin at LCW SuperClash this Sunday and what that meant for the future of Legends Championship Wrestling.

I know this is a bit late but, if Christian Calaway wasn't Chairman at this point, why did he have an office at LCW Headquarters?

As Founder, an office was setup for Calaway at LCW Headquarters. Since it wasn't as nice as the Chairman's office, we can tell you that he's glad to be back in his old office again. His office as the Founder has been converted back to a storage area.

Thanks for the support and stay tuned,
